My Swedish friend, this was amazingly informative. Prospective GT4 buyer so I have been getting really confused by all the exhaust options so this was super.
Great job on your two exhaust system videos! I learned a lot. Thank you for posting these.
Over axle pipe is the starting point of the sound mod if you live in North America because it is the most cost-effective in my opinion. And the oem back box is not restrictive as we may think.
100% agreed!
Excellent choice! Myself and a friend did a lot of homework and analysis and went for Cargraphic X Pipe. 👍🏼
very good analysis! by being objective I arrive at the same conclusion and the same choice. I was looking forward to this video. if the budget was not taken into account I would have put JCR number 1. for a normal continent European that Cargraphic comes first.
Installed Soul over axle pipes with their valved back box with a Cargraphic valve controller on my Spyder. Sounds amazing and extremely happy with the result - perfect set up in my opinion. It’s louder, but not obnoxiously so and the tone is so much better than stock...it now has a higher pitch...that classic flat 6 scream like a GT3 at higher RPMs. And it’s nice to have the option to quiet it down with the valve controls when you need to. Love sitting around 3,000 RPM and then just opening up that 4L with the top down as it screams up to 8,000. Nice job by both Soul and Cargraphic 👏
Any 2-3k resonance issues?
@@hbullock Not that I have noticed, but I’m also driving with no roof on a Spyder, so less of an issue than with a GT4 coupe version.
My spyder arrives in Feb, so I am researching now. :)
Excellent choice man!
Amazing video a simple and clear explanation of the exhaust system for people like me that hadn’t any idea exactly what parts the exhaust are made of and their job
Looks like you and i see eye to eye because I want an exhaust that is crazy loud high pitched as possible and still compliant leaving the cats and opf/gpf
Does the cargraphic you chose work with the oem exhaust on off button? And another question- to the best of my knowledge any alteration certainly exhaust change voids the warranty at least that’s how it is in my country how can it be different in other countries as there is only one porsche manufacturer in the world ?
I had a 981 GT4 and the exhaust was great as stock, but i now have a 991.2 GT3 touriing and the sound with the valve connected was too quiet, so i disconnected the valves so that the system is open at all times. It sounds great but a bit boomy at 2800-3200rpm. however the sound is so much better from 3-4000 rpm where the valve silenced the engine or exhaust untill the valve openede. My dilemma is cabin sound as opposed to outside the car!!! For me i need to know how it sounds inside the car. Perhaps more tests from inside would help consumers like me> thanks for your video. very helpful, cheers
Great Review! I would love to see a review about the 992, either Base or S of aftermarket exhaust options as well.
Looking forward to a comparison video of over axle pipes only (keeping stock headers and back box)! I think that will really help North American buyers make an OAP selection as our GPFs are unmonitored anyway.
Great video. One small question, are the cargraphic over axle pipes compatible with other manufacturers like for instance a jcr exhaust
I am getting the soul race with the resonators.. gitty up...
Nice Videos from you, thank you for that. What i miss is, you did not talk about droning from exhaust. The JCR should drone anoying! Maybe you can make a vid about that, or just your Cargraphic one.
This will come Chris. :) give it a week or two. The focus will be Cargraphic drone unfortunately.
What’s new about the exhaust ? Did you get it and how did it change the sound ?
there are actually 2 sport exhausts from soul; one you explained Race version with straight OPF mid pipes and an other which has a silencer box in addtion to straight through
Both of them are build around the X-pipe design though. :) So the same facts apply for these. One will just be louder and no choice of having it silenced for a while.
I went with Kline inconel full exhaust with 200 cell headers . Sounds amazing.
Would love to hear it in person, video can not reproduce sound
Good stuff! I'm browsing for an aftermarket exhaust option that would make my 718 GTS 4.0 sound like a stock 981 GTS the most. Which option would you recommend?
There is only one way to go for that. Remove the OPF-filters. Im fitting the Akrapovic link pipes in a couple of weeks and tuning the ECU to try this out. But from my research, this will be as close as you get.
@@WheelsToys Thanks for your reply. Would love to see a before & after video! Keep it up man! This is good stuff!
Hi. The experience with the Cargraphic might not have been as good as you thought. We got no news of it :(
You are correct. Vid soon dropping on that. It’s a disaster for the Spyder.
@@WheelsToys wow! Wasn't expecting that. What happened?
I have a 2023 GT4 going into production. I have the same wants as you described (crazy when appropriate and quite when needed) I am also concerned with Drone (with closed valves). I am in the US so no monitored Filter. I have been leaning towards the Kline back box with Kline over axel pipes with high flow filter. Can you tell me what the downside of that system might be for me?
Curious what your thoughts would be if you had to choose a full system. I believe in Canada 🇨🇦(where i am) I don’t think I have the same issue of having a monitored system. Thanks in advance.
I went with the Akrapovic and Soul OPF pipes - but its way too loud, so I am waiting for a set of the Cargraphic OPFs with flow optimized no/monitoring ...
Very interesting to hear Larry! Did it become just louder or did you get a big change in the exhaust-note?
Im not only looking to get my car louder, rather a bit less muted in the way it sounds.
Im looking to also get the optimized filters as a next step I think. :)
Looking forward to hear if you are happy to the upcoming setup!
@@WheelsToys its definitely a significant change; removing the OEM OAP pipes definitely opens up the sound and eliminates the muting, the Akrapovic then creates a lot more aggressive sound - I think because of the large volume of the 3 exhaust canisters ... I'll make a short video of it, upload it and post a link here.
The car's sound is transformed, but for long distance cruising and also for local track sound limits the combination is too loud, so I am hoping that the CG optimized flow OAP pipes will be a happy medium - waiting for CG to ship them...
I think if all you want to do is unmute your Spyder, replacing the OEM OAP pipes with the CG pipes would be a good 1st step/solution...
I made the mistake of doing both at the same time, I should have replaced the OAP's 1st to see how that sounds, of course being in the US we have the ability to dispense with the
particulate filters which you do not have in the EU (which make a huge difference IMO).
watch this space!
just heard that my CG pipes are delayed until mid June... and they were ordered in early April - I might just switch back to the OEM or get the Akra OAPs instead!
@@larrycable984 did you you go back to OEM muffler and new OAP?
I'm considering cutting open my GPF/OPF, having a look at what's in there, modify as required, weld back to stock appearance...
Has anyone done that?
@@Mikoyagi nope I kept my Akrapovic slipon with the CarGraphic OAP ... you dont need to cut the OEM OAP open you can remove the ceramic particulate filter matrix w/o doing so...
Hey guys , is there no 3rd episode on the exhaust’s choices ? I liked the previous ones … for me it should be a JCR or potentially Kline but not sure what is the price
Hey no follow-up on this ? Finally did you choose and bought one of them ?
Hi ! Very nice and useful video. Any news ?
great vids - sub
Which of these utilise the cars standard exhaust switches? A couple have remotes so I wondered if these remotes are override remotes?
All of these that are valved (some can be have unvalved) uses the standard switches. But in standard the valves close at low speeds and RPMs. Have a look at my video about the Valve Controller and you will see how it works. :)
just decat muffler delete it...
