    Many thanks Andreas for this fantastic tip. In the installation video you mentioned at the beginning that you just have to pull the flap hoses left and right. Since I think that a lot of people only want to drive with the flaps open anyway, that's an extremely interesting hint. I tried it straight away. You don't have to lift the car or remove the diffuser, you just put your hand under the fender and you can even pull out this little metal hose without effort (left and right), you don't even need a screwdriver. I think it would also be worth having a video of its own. Thanks again

      Do you need to have the exhaust button selected before the tubes are removed?

      @@seanf7174 No, the engine is off, during procedure.

    Best thing I've ever done is to install this valve controller. Huge improvement. Thanks for recommending it and thanks to Cargraphic for making the device! Highly recommend it - you can actually hear your car properly at normal speeds.

    I’ve done it (gen 2 GT4). Makes a massive difference.

    Ask your Porsche dealer to disconnect exhaust valves/gates permanently, this keeps exhaust flow open all the time. Warranty not effected if done by Porsche (You gotta ask workshop manager very nicely, they may charge an hours labour). This way its always On and the exhaust button on centre console becomes redundant.

      This seems logical and more appropriate

      I've never used one, really, but I believe you can put it in the serial mode, so it'll just bypass the car's intent on controlling the flaps.

    What has been your experience with potential liability voiding the new Porsche warranty?

    What would you do next with the exhaust? Any recommendations after the valve controller?

    • @neilroscow5342

      Sorry for late reply. This is the ONLY change I recommend, No more changes required, It is a simple non invasive disconnect that reverts the car back to the sound it would make had there been no noise regulations.
      I have driven same car with an "Akrapovic" system fitted, it is expensive, loud to a point where it is no longer enjoyable to drive.

    Just subscribed to your channel I did not see the video where you show which exhaust system you got for your spider. I just purchased 718 boxster Spyder and I love it beautiful spec but I want to do something about the sound which exhaust do you recommend? Top three that I was thinking about was JCR sole performance or fab speed

    • @WheelsToys
      @WheelsToys  3 года назад

      Thanks for subscribing Robert! The video is being edited. I will have it out in a couple of days. There has been some sad happenings regarding the exhaust, but now everything seems back on track.
      There is a big difference in the exhausts you are mentioning. First of, JCR is in the UK and the other two in the US. If you are in any of those countrys I would go with that manufacturer to not get an extra tax. But mainly the design of JCR, Sole and Fabspeed is different. On one side you have JCR and Sole that offers x-pipe solutions. While Fabspeed will in its open mode release the exhaust straight out in one pipe per cylinder bank. This will make a difference in the sound. I like the X-pipe sound better since its combined in one note instead of two if that makes sense. :)

  • @huguesr1603
    @huguesr1603 4 года назад +1

    this is an essential modification! now to go further it is necessary to switch to the silencer cargraphic touring or xpipe. the x pipe seems ideal, its like a gt3, but is it sufficiently quiet and without drone with the valves closed??

    • @huguesr1603
      @huguesr1603 4 года назад

      @@WheelsToys ok, i will follow your changes carefully. I ordered a pdk spyder which will be delivered in 2021 and will be doing the exhaust modifications as well. apparently the cargraphic touring is often recommended, but the xpipe is tempting! to be continued ...

    Why did Porsche not leave that decision to the customers at first? Does it have anything to do with the emission levels or other sort of compliance?

  • @richardzuccato1028

    Was disconnecting the battery, and adding a power connection also required to make this modification? This is not shown in your video, but is shown in another video that I’ve seen showing the Cargraphic controller being installed.

    • @WheelsToys

      Not needed, but recommended by some. There is no open electronics in the rear of this car. When I did the same operation on my Ferrari F430 there was some wiring needed, then I disconnected the battery. :)

    Do you still recommend replacing the exhaust system (Cargraphics) or is this modification good enough?
    /Tack på förhand.

    • @neilroscow5342
      @neilroscow5342 4 года назад

      This modification is enough, try it first before you start spending money & making changes to car.

    • @neilroscow5342
      @neilroscow5342 3 года назад +1

      This mod is good enough for me. Its easy, cheap they probably will not charge you, small change done by Porsche Dealer so you cannot be accused of making changes yourself to car & losing warranty. It's a good compromise. A friend in local Porsche Club had the Akropovic exhaust fitted to his 2019 Spyder, it is too load when cruising and he regrets spending so much money unnecessarily.

    Can you recommend it for a ‘closed’ GT4. Is the change/open valves audible in the car? Thnx!

    • @neilroscow5342
      @neilroscow5342 3 года назад

      Absolutely, It was a GT4 owner who had it done & told me about it. Warranty not effected as its your Porsche Dealership who does it, then no warranty issue.

  • @BigAppleEmperor

    Total waste of time and money, just disconnect the vacuum hose near the rear of the OPF filter, the valve will open all the time, it takes literally 2 minutes.

    • @WheelsToys
      @WheelsToys  3 года назад +3

      You should however plug the lines. :) Otherwise you might get a check engine light down the road for vacuum leakage. But two screws or golf-pegs do the trick.
      But I do love to be able to turn the exhaust of and make it a cruiser on the freeway. :D
