- This video shows why and just how good a 79mm by 15 flats wrench/socket fits the HYUNDAI/KIA 26300 35505 oil filter.
Will the larger 80mm work? Yes but with caution!
This oil filter wrench is cheap and well made of cast aluminum.

A big thank you from across the pond for your advice on Kia oil filter removal tool. My Soul filter was same part number as yours, so I was able to order 79mm 15 flute tool with complete confidence from Amazon. It arrived next day and job done.
❤
Great to hear!
Exactly what I needed, thank you for this,

its very help me to buy part online
You are welcome!
Just wanted to say thanks for the video. I was in the middle of an oil change on my 2016 Sonata and was unable to take off the OEM filter. Now I know exactly what I need to order!
Glad it helped
Wrong size for my Elantra, 79mm is too large.
Very helpful, cheers.
No worries!
Excellent buddy.
It really is something nowadays how everything has to be just so so.
I still prefer the older days 😉
For me simple is the key.

I know what you mean! A guy can't even "properly" bleed brakes on his car without a bi-directional scan tool.

Great video thanks for sharing. What size oil filter wrench does a 2020 Kia Forte LXS use? Also, Can you tell me how many quarts of oil I should put in it? When changing the oil.
Get a claw type socket Lisle 63600, there is a bigger one tho. I would get both and get their oil filter pliers they are awesome
I have the adjustable oil filter pliers, they are handy!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you. PLease provide an Amazon link so your subscribers can say , " thanks".
I just added the link in the description.

I performed an oil change using the 80mm 15 flats wrench I just bought at Advance Auto Parts. Even though it fits, you were right about the 80. As I was tightening the filter it just slipped out, and I didn't use much torque. So I returned it and ordered that 79mm on eBay. I'm also going to start ordering my filters on Amazon now that I know the part number.
Good deal Willie! I'm glad it worked out for you and I also appreciate the time you took to watch this video!
Stay safe!!
@@pmtips4482 Not a problem! Thanks for your reply! 😃
got a couple of months to go til the Soul's first oil change, but it's our first Kia. I've always been told just hand-tighten filters and use a wrench to remove if needed. Is something different on the Kias/Hyundai's? Just curious maybe it's just your personal preference?
Know what you mean there. Got to have a hundred tools unlike back in the days of just needing a wrench, pliers, hammer and screw driver for everything. Then along came the phillips screw, sockets, tons of proprietary stuff that needs its own tool. I'd use a layer of aluminum foil to tighten the gap better.
Thanks for the aluminum foil tip!
I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Thanks. Can we expect a video of your oil change using this new toy? ;-)
Just fyi, tried the first oil change on the wife's 2021 soul, and my claw type that worked so well on the old subaru, was useless. I think it probably had more to do with the factory snugging it up too well from the factory, then partially due to the cramped area. Even had the socket extender and used a rag for a little more grip, but to no avail. Had to literally do just an oil change. Thankfully, I do the first change WELL before the recommended 6k miles. I just did it at 1900, so I'm glad I did! I have the one you showed on order and it will arrive tomorrow, WELL before the next change! Now if THAT doesn't work, I'll have to pull off the bottom panel like another utuber does!
Awesome video, liked. Any chance you can provide the link to the amazon filter socket?
Deem, try this item description. Amazon closed my affiliate link so I best not hot link it, but copy and paste this exact description from my past order:
Rannb Oil Filter Wrench Model 904 Cap Type Filter Socket Car Remover Tool 15 Flutes - 79mm Dia
Deem, also it is a very high quality tool, and a very good value!
@@pmtips4482 That worked perfect. Ordering now, thanks a bunch!
My Hyundai Elantra's oil filter has only 14 flats, and is only about 70mm from flat to flat. Your recommended filter was not even close.
Your Hyundai Elantra must not use the 26300 35505, 26300 35504, or 26300 35503 engine oil filter.
Just measure across the flats and count the flats then order the proper socket/wrench.
Thanks and good luck!
The 911 size oil filter wrench seems to be same size--79mm 15. Do you know if 911 size works, and also what's different from the 904 size, if anything?
Edwin, the 904 fits these filters like a glove. The 911 looks to be identical. You could email the seller and ask for the difference in them. It kind of puzzles me now after looking at both the 911 and the 904 (I have the 904).
I can't see any immediate difference in looking at the Amazon pages.
Thanks!
Does this socket fit mobile one oil filter M1-104a?
If it has 15 flats and is 79mm across the flats.....it will work. If not precisely 79mm x 15 flats....then no.
Thanks for watching!
Trying to get this tool for my new hyundai i20 which is using exact same model oil filter. Not available on amazon india. Can Anyone help me?
Any oil filter socket style tool with the proper flats and width will work for you.
Thanks for watching!
Why not use a 3 claw spin type universal socket? It's sold at Wal-Mart and auto parts stores. It takes a 3/8 drive wrench. Less than 5 bucks
do you have one? I have one, I'll have to try it when I do the wife's cars first oil change.
You have to be careful with those turn/tighten type sockets because you can damage the filter by denting it. Coming off is no biggie, but denting a filter on the install is a no-no.
Thanks!
@@pmtips4482 I only hand-tighten, so there shouldn't be an issue with the 3-claw type for me. Thanks.
I have one and they only work for tightening on the new Filter and not for removing.
They can puncture the thin metal's thickness.
Wrong size for my Elantra.
Will this wrench work for the 1.8L 2011 elantra?
It would be best to firm up the measurements on your oil filter. If the 2011 will take this exact filter no problem though.
Stay safe!
No, it is too large for my Elantra.
I would be leery about using those washers. They appear to be fake/counterfeit as the name Hyundai is misspelled - "Hyudai." Quality control on genuine parts is usually much better.
Good catch!! That is strange as those washers came in the sealed 6 pack of Hyundai/Kia oil filters which I am positive are genuine. The OEM oil drain plug washer is a thick solid washer versus the likes of Subaru which likes to use a hollow cored folded washer that will collapse when properly torqued.
Even with the misspelled name, the included washers are the exact size including thickness as the OEM.
Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Very interesting. Im thinking they are OEM washers as well, just abbreviated Hyudai for whatever reason
What is the nut size?
Hi James, the nut size on the filter socket is a 26 mm which is not a practical size at all, it's best to use the 1/2 inch square drive with an adapter down to 3/8 inch drive.

I have a 2020 Tucson, and ordered that silver piece. Well long story short it didn't fit like a bear unfortunately. Now keep in mind this is a new 2020 with a factory hundai filter. I did purchase another hundai filter and it seems the filter wrench fits it much better. I just wonder if hundai used a different filter not sure. I will be taking it to the dealership and let them get it off. I will than do it myself the next time, but for now it is just to tight.
I'm almost certain the Hyundai models take the same 26300 35505 (35504) as the KIAs do, it's the four cylinder engines we are talking about here.
A lot of times that factory installed engine oil filter is tightened so tight a DIYer cannot get it off without a perfect fitting filter socket style wrench. Not only KIA but RAM Cummins are notorious for this too.
If you think about it, ask the tech to show you the filter when he gets it off. You can get a look at what the factory put on.
Thanks!
@@pmtips4482 I bent the filter wall somewhat using the wrench strap, but it isnt leaking or anything. I sure hope that they can get it off. I was almost tempted to tap a screwdriver though it, but i didn't have room like I wanted.
I have a tool that can also do this job well I’m not sure the name of it but believe it’s a clamp socket? I can take a picture of it if any one is interested.
Thanks, I think I know the tool you're talking about.
Take care!
The 79mm is the wrong size for my Elantra, much too large.
I hope you know you have a fake hyundai oil filter hyundai mobis it’s an electrical department it’s Mann-hummel who made OEM filter.
It is very hard for me to believe someone would "counterfeit" a 5 dollar oil filter.
A Hyundai Mobis came off our brand new Kia Sorento when I did the first oil change.
I'd say Mann-Hummel has made them for Hyundai-Kia too.
Thanks for watching!
Hyundai mobis is Hyundai-Kia parts brand. Just like “mopar” is Chrysler-dodge-keep-ram parts brand.
lol
