    You would have really been shocked had you unrolled the filter element. 2 - 3 times more filter than mobil 1 or royal purple

    I looked at the K&N PS1004 oil filter cut open video and they both look identical

    Thanks I just bought a 2020 Kona and i was wondering what a Hyundai filter was like. Thanks. Looks like a well made quality product. Better than some generic oil change places

      IT is a well made filter and they are cheap on Amazon, or was it ebay...

    ..these are the very same ones I always buy online , shipped by the 10-pack box for about $50 from EBay....and they all have the exact same packaging, quality construction, and the official Hyundai/ Kia Mobis hologram labels and seals...such a great product...

      Same here. I have never heard of these being counterfeited??? Why would anyone bother with such an inexpensive product???

    • @xminusone1

      @@jasmwhite1 They do alot of counterfeit parts. From 15 dollars transistors to oils filters. The transistors are awful. They kinda look the same but they don't withstand the same power than the original (I'm an electronic technician)
      If they're too cheap, they're probably counterfeit.

    Look for the Hyundai logo stamped inside the genuine filter.

    They’re very well made filters and quite affordable so you’d be nuts not to use them if they are available to you.

    I was questioning the authencity of a 10 pack filter from Amazon and compared the new filters to the 2 previous oil filters my car had and the only difference I saw was the boxing.
    The new boxed ones have the new KIA logo and come in a brown box, while the old ones come in the red and white kia box.
    I think they are legit. I always do oil changes myself and always buy the oem brands from Walmart for the 3 cars that I have but my local Walmart doesn't have KIA.

    • @Jimmy-sj9ny

      The filters are genuine but the brown boxes aren't. The seller bought them wholesale without boxes and had his own boxes made.

      @@Jimmy-sj9nythe brown boxes are genuine my man! Just the newer packaging, the ones I bought from my local kia dealership came in brown boxes

    • @Jimmy-sj9ny
      @Jimmy-sj9ny Год назад +1

      @@snoofayy6150 Thanks. I did some checking and you are right. The brown boxes signify either filters made for the Korean market ONLY (the dealer told me some will even say "Not for sale outside the Republic of Korea."); OR filters meant to be sold in wholesale lots and not individually to retail consumers.

    IMHO, this filter, while a good filter, is not built to the level of quality of the WIX XP or NAPA Platinum. Have used 6 each Hyundai/ KIA filters for the reason that someone said here, i.e. protect your investment with OEM (paraphrasing). I have noticed that toward the end of the 7,500 oil life, the oil has been pretty dirty. This time, I purchased 2 each NAPA Platinum PFL 41334 to try. Please remember that you can seek protection through the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act when using aftermarket parts on your vehicle, if the parts meet or exceed OEM requirements. As far as the medium type (paper or synthetic media), there are many videos of guys cutting open oil filters. Based on what I have seen on other sites, the media in the Hyundai filter is paper. Only my opinion.

      Appreciate your input. But if you can get these cheap enough and change your oil on time, I would stick with OEM

    • @williamiwaniuk5561
      @williamiwaniuk5561 4 года назад

      @@kalani1987 , Thank you for your response. I always value hearing what other guys are using and doing. The reason for my changing filter brand is to see if the oil looks about the same at the oil change interval. I do always change the oil on time (7,500 miles), and I have used nothing but Red Line 5W-20 oil. And I got a real deal on the filters- about $6.00 each (internet sale) at Napa online.

      @@kalani1987 Hyundai/Kia filters are made by Mann-Hummel in Korea. The Wix filters are also made in Korea for this application since Wix is owned by Mann. They basically rebranded them. I have used Wix filters in a Hyundai, there are no problems. Stay away from cheap low quality filters.

      I stick only with OEM on my Optima, I don’t want to give Stealership any wiggle room to void warranty. I don’t even want them to consider going down that road.

      @Jimmy-sj9ny Год назад

      @@kalani1987 Most of the ones criticized as counterfeit from online sources are NOT. They are genuine OEM made for the Korean market. That's how the seller makes a profit-- they buy wholesale "Korean market only" lots and re-sell them in the USA.

    You act surprised at first time seeing pleats inside of an oil filter. What about the check valve that you say, as an expert on international oil filters and manufacturers, is anti-cloning junk? Share what you learn, not what you think is good to share because you're wrong about a lot of things here. AND it costs $6 at my Hyundai dealer with a free $2 drain plug gasket. "Kind of weird, but it works." Guru. They do NOT stamp those out on a stamping press either. lol Just because you THINK how things are, what they are or why things are done don't make it so. If you research first then you can let us know what you found out. My brother works for Hyundai as an engineer and showed me this vid to laugh at. Quick hunt real quick is my fave. Wait until your Mom finds out that you cut open her $9 filter. Had fun. Just lovin' on ya Mason. Good vid.
