I have the second gen ring door bell coupled to a ring pro chime which I believe acts as a wifi extender as well. Installing the ring door bell was easy but getting the doorbell to talk to the chime took more work. In the end I set up the doorbell up on my routers 2.4ghz guest channel. It seems if you move the chime to a different location you will have to set it up again. My main complaint is the chime even on full volume is not that loud and in fact the doorbell ringer is louder than the chime. Other than that it is working well and I turned off live video to save the battery draw as it doesn’t seem it will last as long as the manufacturers say it will. The video quality is ok and the recorded sound is good.
@LuneSolstice without the sub you just won't have the recordings / rings saved. But if someone is at your door you will still receive a live notification and can answer on the spot
Bought this ring 2nd generation last month. What I didn't realise was you have to take the unit out everytime you need to charge the battery because you cannot just take the battery out to recharge it. I've nearly bought the spare battery but it's going to be useless😢
You can but your videos won't be recorded and saved to the cloud, so you can't watch recordings/ motion detect later on if you didnt catch the person live whilst the doorbeing was rung
I just got this doorbell two weeks ago. And it was working fine, and suddenly, it tells me it has low internet connection. Personally, I believe these companies do this so you have to buy some more of their products to make their original product work better. 🙄. Nope, won’t do that, bc I know my internet connection is great. I’ll just return their product and never buy Ring again. 😊
They can definitely come off, but they're not very expensive so not worth the effort in my opinion. I'd rather steal peoples deliveries and get a mystery box :D

Thanks for the comment, I still haven't got the chime but thinking of installing it when I move to my new place. Do you think it's worth getting?
@@kevnalysis I think the chime is useful if you’re not glued to your phone. Hopefully Ring can update the software to make it louder.
1 thing i forgot to add, the doorbell doesn't come with a chime included, you'll need to buy that separately. It does ring on your phone though

A comparison between the Gen 2 and Gen 1 would have been helpful. What's the differences between the two? Better camera?
Thanks for the feedback :) have noted this for future videos

Would be great if you could just slide in a new battery instead of taking the whole unit off hey
@@kevnalysis the 149.99 option has a removeable battery that you recharge
Solar charger
So you can still use it without the subscription? What features does it have without the subsciption?
Pretty much all the features except saving recording to the cloud
Like the video easy to follow. Ty
Glad it helped
it's ringtone volume is very low can we increase the volume

I'm I able to turn off notifications for cars that drive by? Because the blink I have now it goes off everytime a car drives by.
Yes, you can turn off other motion in the settings, otherwise you can also define motion zones to reduce picking up motion from the road
My doorbell kit has an odd shaped tool that is orange with no instructions on how to use it. What is it for?
Hmm odd, mine didn't come with an orange tool, could it be the security screw ?
How much is the subscription??
Starts at $4.95 per month or $49.95 per year
Great video!
Can you use this without an extra subscription?
You can but your videos won't be recorded and saved to the cloud, so you can't watch recordings/ motion detect later on if you didnt catch the person live whilst the doorbeing was rung
Very useful, thank you.
How to make it work with Google Home , If that's even possible?
It can through the google home app, but i don't use Google home so I haven't tried it. It works better with alexa.
