I live in Asheville NC and trust and believe we see bears all the time. We have a mama bear and 3 cubs that roam our apartment complex and get into the dumpster all the time. That's why I am terrified of walking my dog. I am sure the mama to that cub wasn't that far away.
Coyotes are careful. A cat scratch can easily cause a bad infection, and coyotes never go to the vet. Even a sore paw can keep them from catching anything to eat.
I sometimes leave a package with a padded cinder block inside for the porch pirates . Make those chumps work for nothing. LOL
I have had people come to my house in the middle of the night. My dog alerted me. I was up and ready before they reached my front door. I asked what they wanted and they said they were looking for someone. I told them they don't live here and they left! You never know what these people will try to do so be ready.
Im glad the cat was ok. The owner should keep the cat inside for its safety.

The car accident made me laugh way too hard.
I walk my dogs for about 10 minutes most nights late. I lock the door when I leave, even though I'm in visual range of the building. If someone did walk in, my boyfriend won't be very nice, and he'll be armed. I'm also armed when I walk the dogs. I've seen all kinds of weird stuff going on. The neighbors have had walk ins, I've caught people trying our vehicle doors. It gets worse every day.
I actually walked into my neighbors apartment once thinking it was mines. The one and only time I've been drunk😐

I have vivint. It is expensive but you can make a payments. Not a bad view. You can call cop, 911 inside from your screen. Or just simply buy cheaper cameras from the store and you hook it and play it. You can do that too.

It's kinda of funny but we keep our outer doot to our front door locked all the time. But it's so our are can't open the door and escape! And while we don't have a doorbell camera, we do have a camera on the Eve's of the house pointing down for security. Which is good because they can't just rip it down!!
Why would anyone get something delivered? Is the package still insured by the vendor and will be replaced at their cost if stolen from front step when delivered to home when nobody is there?

Hey, diapers are expensive and likely have good resale value. So many porch pirates steal in order to resell the product. Diapers, formula, and laundry detergent are often stolen for their resale value.
