Well, I guess nobody mentions it here: the lyrics are truly deep. It's about running from problems, from people, from closeness. The girl from the song feels nowhere secure or safe. She tries to run from familiar patterns, and by doing so, she repeats the pattern learned from her father.
It's about a girl who ended up with borderline personality disorder, running away from the rat race which keeps trying to suck her into it's vortex where most women end up, being a baby incubator with an apron on. She instead lives in her own world of fantasy and dissociation. That's why it makes me cry. It's a character portrait of my very life. It's not necessarily about being poor. It's about not wanting to be some ordinary wifey person stuck in some boring dude's life. Her father idealized her so she is too good for anybody. That's her secret smile. ❤
I'm sad that she didn't continue in this style on her follow up albums. Liked it best with her musicians from "Tuesday night music club", Bill Bottrill and Co
@@candylounge7962 Agreed. but it is very likely the change prolonged her career. Her album "Threads" debut was at #2 on the US country charts and she was 58 at the time.
It amazes me that this song gets virtually no airtime on the radio and that it didn’t make the charts. It’s better than some of her more well known hits
Eu até me emociono escutando essa música fazia anos que não escutava. Eu literalmente voltei a ouvir por causa da novela História De Amor que está reprisando no Canal Viva ❤

One of my all time favorite songs, and one of my all time favorite drum tracks. Drummer is amazing. So much feeling and so perfectly old school. Fantastic.
I LOVE this song - without a doubt this is definitely one of my 'desert island discs'. The emotion in Sheryl's voice, the sound and rhythm of every instrument, makes this possibly one of the best songs I've ever heard. Also, would have to nominate this as potentially one of the best album 1 - side 1 - track 1's ever made.
Nossa... sempre achei que "Run, Baby, Run" fosse o maior sucesso da Sheryl... pelo visto a canção é mais conhecida aqui no Brasil mesmo. Eu simplesmente amo essa música maravilhosa!
A lot of memories during a crucial time period in my life weigh for me on this track. Bad, good, very emotional song for me during a time that had 2 paths, if i took one of the paths i would probably not be here anymore, the other one is where i am today. Thx for making me run in the right direction Sheryl.
Alguém ouvindo essa reliquia em 2019! Essa Música marcou minha adolescência, era tema de Sheila de História de Amor, tenho o LP Internacional da Novela até hoje.
Just rediscovered this song. I'm 27 and last time i heard it i was 10. I'm so happy right now! Took a screenshot and added it to all my playlists. Won't forget about it again!
I have never heard this piece before and i was in my early 30's then. It is bluesy and beautiful and maybe reflects the Boomer and Gen X proclivity for a certain drama and meaning to escape a past, relationships yes, but can it be our condition? I know something about humans but have to rely on nature for some answers I suppose, maybe many of us instinctively want to help create a future that works for the individual and the many. Hoping all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Holiday season 2023-2024 and beyond! I love you all!
Huxley = one of the great writers and visionaries of the 20th century. Sheryl crow = one the greatest singer songwriters and musical artists of modern times. artistic siblings.
This is the only album of hers worth listening to. All others are nothing as far as I'm concerned. If you like it, that's cool. I like her and I hope other people like her later works, but not for me.
Sheryl's best song by far for me, the lyrics, the emotion, it's a masterpiece, every time she sings the line run baby, run you can hear the emotion in her, and it just takes me away to a peaceful place every single time
When my wife and I met, we would go to a local bar where an awesome band would cover this song. Listening today brings back great memories and still a great song.
I had also such a venture! I was waiting at the telephone to talk with the library for some books for my son, and I waited and waited and waited, this song in background. After half an hour they answered me and my first question was:"Please, give me the title of this song!" I was fallen fully in LOVE with it… and I still am! So many feelings, a mix of desperation, hope (it's contrary), power, rebellion, fight and escape (another oxymoron!), trust in themselves and mistrust anyone else

poetic, philosophical, artistic, and full of emotions

In your opinion.
True that
Its highest chart position was #24 in the UK. It was re-released after the other songs off the album took off.
I think I like 'I shall believe' the most, all in all, from TNMC album.
Other than 'can't cry anymore' and 'nobody said it would be easy'.
200%
Great hearing this single again December 2024. ❤
This song is still good, and still so true after all these years.
The power of good music.

Sheryl Crow : una delle più brave, autentiche ed anche belle cantanti americane !

Sheryl's music is timeless... She did not have to go country.
