This song means a lot to me, when I was a little kid, my dad used to play it often every time we rode the car. More than 10 years have passed since I heard it for the first time, I started to look the time passing on my dad´s face, him getting older. I´m grateful for this memories.

Как то, давно в 1999 году, когда было 17, услышал песню Promises и понял что влюбился в группу. Я не знал как она выглядела, не знал её другие песни. Тогда слушал только русский рок. Да я знал что у них была песня Зомби (по голосу понял, что это они). Тогда не было у меня интернета и музыкальных каналов. Но я стал судорожно искать в музыкальных киосках группу со странным названием "Клюква". И вот так 99-е и, наверно, до 4-го года прошло в наушниках с этим надрывистым и охеренским голосом. Потом постоянно к ней возвращался. Нет-нет - да включу её концерт.А сегодня такая новость. Люди, которые лепили рок, да, в принципе, музыку, уходят от нас. ПлАчу.

Rest in pease, Dolores Mary Eileen! She was great talented musician and author of beautiful songs which come through her heart. But Dolores O'Riordan raised the bar very high. For example, she could barely (often - just couldn't) take a low note performing 'Zombie' live. She certainly wasn't a great singer in terms of vocal range or technicas. But she had a real gift.

Watch her live videos and name me ten female vocalists that have a better range? Possibly pink,Amy mcDonald, and a few others,nowadays we get fed shite like beyonce and adele.
I always used to think the Irish singers had something special be it U2, enya, sinead or corrs unique style I meant but one will miss the deep vocal style associated with dolores
Back in the day when lyrics had a meaning and music videos told stories.
I mean this isn't none existent in today's music. The "Sound of Silence" video from disturbed has a very nice story to it.
"Heavy" by Linkin Park has a very hard hitting and moving narrative.
And if you want something more in line with the genre of The Cranberries there's "Love Song" that video has a cute little narrative along with the lyrics. I can't remember the artists full name. He first name is Sarah.
Just a few examples. Most narrative use in music today(with pop anyway) is very boring though. It's usually all about break ups or falling in love or a struggling relationship. Rinse and repeat.

Totally agree. Today's music is bland and boring. Most doesn't have a proper narrative nor does it have a great range of vocals.
The worst thing to my mind though is that lots of modern music is without bands playing real instruments and seems to be thrown together on a computer with sythecised vocals.

I'll always regret not going to the concert, I wanted to go but my boyfriend at the time said he didn't want to go. I should have gone alone or taken a friend. This was one of the first songs that got me through a dark time. And still gets me through dark times. A mother's love is ceaseless, it is never ending. I now know what she means about the animal instinct in us mothers.
