losing the Rev was a major setback for these guys. they never saw it coming... they lost a brother. I hate when people rag on their new album. they worked hard on hail to the king & hearing it live, I could appreciate their new sound. they can't make the same music when such an important element is missing...still a good band that loves their fans. RIP Rev
Agreed. The band is doing what they've always done. That is, whatever they want. As fans we should support them in whatever style they choose next. Until they start releasing the same album with different names. Then we know they sold out.
I'm not even a fan of HTTK. Nightmare would be my favorite. Go instrumentals! I liked 3 songs on it but I respect their artistic vision. Didn't find anything bad In it. It just wasn't for me. Same with their metal core stuff. Didn't like it but I wouldn't dream of shitting on it.
I respect them for not clinging to past successes and their love for the art form. If the day they do sell out comes it'll be an incredibly sad one.
heres the thing they DIDNT work that hard on hail to the king in my opinion the only thing that is outstanding on that album are the drums and the songs were more copies/tributes to other bands andddddddddddddd they got a new drummer brooks wacker man that is amazing he is probably better then the rev but i still love the rev and brooks is on the same page as a7x
The stage is also great. I loved all of their the stage album songs especially Roman sky and the stage itself.
Yeah, Jimmys monster drumming is important for Avenged, and his deep growls. Since no one else in the band can play (Drums) like he could, or growl and scream like he could, they had to change.

this is fucking amazing i don't care what anyone says. Avenged Sevenfold's progression as people and musicians is truly awesome and it is unfair to compare any of their albums to each other. They all represent a different point in the A7X timeline and it would be lame if they did the same thing every album. I love all their music but WTF has a special place in my heart :)
They went for really different styles among all their albums. I heard from a musician that it sucks sticking to one genera of music, it's better to experiment. So I agree, you can't really put 2 of their albums together and really compare the sound, but you can say what's different (mostly Matt's voice deciding to fuck off (mostly found in the new song they recorded, mad Hatter)). But waking the fallen is in fact my favorite album from them, and unless they release an album like waking the fallen again (which is highly unlikely) I don't think I'll ever thoroughly enjoy an album from them just like I did when listening to this album for the first time. And they did bring a little bit of that back in nightmare with God hates us, but that's the only one that caught my attention. So saying that one of their albums is better than the other is like saying that "Metal is better than pop", yes, us Metal heads will say that, but it's an opinion

i love Avenged Sevenfold i think its the most amazing band i know! i love the hail to the king album but yet ill miss the old avenged sevenfold. waking the fallen, avenged sevenfold, city of evil and nightmare albums were amazing. all of their albums were amazing IMO. i still listen alot to hail to the king album but somewhere in my mind there still is that empty dark space thats sad avenged sevenfold wont be making the music again they used to make a few years ago. still ill follow this band anywhere and ill love their music always until the day i die and hopefully after that i still love it.

I love this song. Then again, I have favorite songs from every Avenged Sevenfold album. I think the difference between the Old and the Modern Avenged Sevenfold is the loss of The Rev. I personally and strongly believe the Rev's passing has caused M. Shadows, Synyster Gates, Johnny Christ, and Zacky Vengeance to, in a way, grow up and mature, both as individuals and as a band.
Actually, when they still had the Rev, they were changing a lot. You can't tell me that you would expect Avenged Sevenfold to release a song like Lips of Deceit, then proceed to make a song like afterlife, so they were changing, like this before the Rev passed away
You’re making it sounds like the Rev was holding them back or something. I just think their taste music just changed with time not because Rev died.

I was lucky enough to see them in 01 opening for Shadows Fall n Mushroomhead when hardly anyone knew who they were. M. Shadows n the Rev weren't old enough to drink so I kept buy them beers but I was just 21 myself! Can't believe the Rev is gone they were funny dudes n they put on an awesome show that night in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Waking the fallen was their best. It just has a more serious tone of m shadows vocals. Now he is just a mix of James hetfield and axl rose. I wish they can make another album like this one. Each album sounds very different from one another that's what I like about them, they are always changing it up

Absolutely. "Waking the Fallen" and "City of Evil" are the tops. It seems like the jump from "Waking" to "City" was the biggest shift in most people's opinions, but I think it was the self-titled. At least on "Waking" and "City," the mentality was somewhat similar in terms of songwriting... Interesting lengthier songs with great dynamics, hooks, multiple bridges, great instrumentals, etc... Bring this Avenged back already.
