I doubt those ladies are the first to have recognised you from your Vlog. Many more, like me, are probably too shy to say anything even if the GoPod and Winston would ring an immediate bell!
If you are still in Scotland but due to come back to England in the next week or so, you could do worse than to stop in at the Teesside DA THS at Beadnell on the Northumberland Coast for about 23 nights from 19th July (this coming weekend) onwards. No need to book, and you can stop one night or 23 or even leave and return as some do on their way up to and back down from Scotland, two fields away from the Beadnell club site, literally 100 yards from the sand dunes and the beach. Bamburgh 5 miles away. Lovely flat fields and really well organised AND only £10 per unit per night.
Anyway, this was another very professional video. Thanks.

@@Roz.S You are obviously a member of the Camping & Caravanning Club since you seem to have camped at their Oban Club Site.
The Camping Club has various types of camping open to members:
      1. The Club Sites which are effectively well-run commercial sites open to members and, I think, non-members, at a slightly higher rate per night. But £30-50 per night is possible at high season, even if that is slightly cheaper than some non-club commercial sites and many are booked up in advance.
      2. There is a network of (usually) farmers who have "five-van sites" know as Certificated Sites or Certificated Locations in the clubs, but these often only have a drinking water tap so you can fill up & an Elsan disposal point apart from the place to site your van. They are much cheaper to stay at. SOME (but only some) may offer toilets & showers, too. They are listed in the Camping Club's Big Sites Book but probably also online. You deal directly with the farmer when staying there.
      3. District Associations (DAs) exist all over Britain in the Camping Club - in the North East Region of England that comprises Northumbria DA, Durham DA and Teesside DA - and the various DAs have a programme of weekend meets published in the "Out & About" part of the Club magazine & website. So, for example (and I will make this up) 2 weeks ago Teesside DA might have a weekend meet at Hutton-le-Hole in the NY Moors, Durham might have a similar meet at Seaham and Northumbria might have a meet at, say, Hexham. You might decide to go to the meet organised by your "home" DA but if you like one of the other DAs' sites or if you have already visited your DA's site recently or if you don't "fancy" that place, you can just join one of the other DA's at their site. Yorkshire, East of England and other Regions of the country have their own DAs and they have THEIR meets, too, and you are welcome to join any of them, for example if you are touring outside your local area. Those DA Meets (usually a weekend but sometimes a "long weekend" or even Thursday to Monday) will often also be on a farmer's field but may use sports clubs etc, where there are flat fields! Normally very cheap (£10-15 per unit per night) and although the farmers' fields may only offer a water tap and an Elsan point, though sports clubs and similar sites which are used for a THS sometimes allow the showers and toilets to be used. No doubt the club is happy with that as it is more likely the campers may pop in for a few drinks during their stay. These meets will have stewards who organise the site for the duration of their stay, collect the fees etc.
      4. For longer stays, particularly in the Easter, Summer and half-term holidays, DAs or even Regions organise Temporary Holiday Sites - again using farmers' fields or schools/colleges/sports club. Again they will have stewards or, for larger THSs, teams of stewards so they can take turns. Some THS meet might last a week/10 days and some (like Teesside DA's Beadnell THS which opens on 19th July this year, and runs for 23 nights, I think) last rather longer.
They are often near a town or city with attractions (like the Edinburgh with its Festival or York), near the coast (like Whitby, or Tenby in Wales or, indeed, like the Beadnell THS) or in the countryside like the National Parks with all they have to offer.
THS meets sometimes have to be booked in advance (or at least you should phone the number or send an email to the Stewards at the contact details given in Out & About. The Teesside DA THS is on two large fields which have, so far, never been filled so, for that meet, you just need to turn up with your membership card.
The Beadnell THS is somewhere people can go (a) for the full 23 nights at only £10 per unit per night (b) for any other number of nights within the 23 available - sometimes, for example, GPs might bring the Grandchildren for a week, take them home to their parents then come back for some time on their own. (c) People can pop in for a weekend or pop in to break their journey for one or two nights on their way up to Scotland as it's fairly near to the Border, or pop in for one or two nights on their way back down from Scotland.
Last year there was a children's play area but I'm not sure whether or not that is happening this year, but there is a large communal tent for people to spend evening time in, maybe for drinks with friends etc, particularly in poor weather. But there is the second field from which the hubbub from that tent could not be heard and some people ask to go to that quieter field if they have dogs or just prefer solitude . I have never heard anyone complain about that THS. Some people go to it every year to meet friends from previous years. Some just drop in because it is a convenient stop on their journey.
A THS is a cheap way of spending time in a different area from where you might normally stay. And for Beadnell there is so much to do in terms of walks and cycle rides, the dunes & beach, nearby places like Seahouses and towns (like Alnwick, Bamburgh, Lindisfarne , Warkworth, Craster , Amble etc) with castles and other things to see and do.
Some people plan their trips by moving from THS to DA meet to another THS etc. Even if from time to time you need/want to stay at a commercial site for it's facilities, the money saved at a THS will allow you to afford the stay at that much more expensive commercial site!
The Beadnell THS is 2 fields away from the Camping Club site at Beadnell. That site is often fully booked but the stewards there will often send people up to our field if they have travelled a long way & there is no room at the inn on the Club Site, to see if we can fix them up. They are normally amazed at the price differential and I have heard many say that they had never heard of THSs before despite being in the club for years (maybe they used the club for its Club Sites network, van insurance deals etc) but they often say they'll use THSs in the future. Good weather, of course, helps wherever you camp!
I hope that answers the questions you had. And I hope you and Winston enjoy the rest of your trip.

I thought it was sad when you were walking last day in Oban, when you mentioned you would one day be walking alone without Winston.Thats why we have for such a short time in our lives, and they give us great times, they make us laugh they make us cry..So cherish them whilst you have him. I like you had a furry friend that always went into the hills with me, camped with me, shared breakfast sausages, out in all weathers. She was Ruby my Border Collie, best dog I ever had, so I now walk alone, but I still have great memories, and I walk alone in places we went in the past, but I still feel her presence…These videos are great, as I get to see a lovely person, with a great pootch, living a great life..Keep these videos coming Rox. Good reversing. It's actually harder with a little caravan than a larger one. You mentioned that you were under pressure with people watching. There is no shame in unhitching and motormovering the caravan on to the pitch. I always used to reverse on to the pitch but these days I just pull up, unhitch and motormover the caravan on to the pitch.

Watching people pitch or manoeuvre into place is a national pastime and the reward for getting to your site early. I would always envy people in caravans watching us put our tent up in the rain from the comfort of their lounge. I now have a Campervan for just myself and my dog but still hate people watching me drive onto levellers. Especially when I go too far and drive off the end of them.

I’m guessing it probably takes close to another 40 hours just to get 25 minutes of quality content out. You are always so conscientious in responding to your post comments also. Your channel is growing and becoming very popular! It might become a little more challenging to connect with every one of your followers comments. Personally I would never be offended or disinclined to watch your next episode if you didn’t respond to one of my comments. I would just think you are prioritising a bit of precious time with your dear sweet boy, Winston.

Each vlog episode contains about a day or two of footage, and each episodes takes me about 15 hours to edit. This video took a bit longer because there was a lot of shorter clips in the first section that needed cropping, so that took a long time. I do enjoy it though, and I like being able to look back on our adventures.

@@Roz.S I’m not surprised it takes that long. I tried my hand at making a parody video once and it literally took me days to get about 3 minutes of completed footage. But chuck a bit of OCD in with trimming and splicing footage, laying down audio and that probably made it a much longer task! Your Vlogs are some of the best I’ve seen! I think if you ever lose your day job, you could turn your hand to editing other people’s Vlogs! But that aside, it’s wonderful you have these very creative video diaries of your adventures with Winston. I kind of wish some of this technology had been around when I had my first dog!

I did a lot of orienteering. I still have an old compass in a drawer. I can still recall the little rhyme for map reading and bearings. "Mag to Grid, get rid. Grid to Mag, add". Paper maps have an offset compared to the magnetic North Pole. Which changes over time. its printed at the top of the map. So you add or remove however many degrees it is on your map. Depending if you are using a magnetic or map grid bearing.

1 issue with the bug zappers. They attract and zap bugs well. The "attract" part can be a problem. If the zapper is placed in your space at the farthest distance from where you are, the better. Recommended that you don't place nearest to you for the bugs that don't get zapped quickly. Just keep it at the opposite end of where you are. (Example: If you are sleeping, keep it at the Pod door). Cheers.

With Winston as regards water we tend to put our Alfie on bottled water a week before we go away in our caravan as you can go to a soft water area where we have a hard water area where we live it does perhaps taste different He does look fine you both have a good adventure and try not to worry To much he is great 😊

I also hate an audience when I'm parallel parking.Something I can do but go to pieces if someone's watching. My ex used to laugh at me because if the space was tight I could get in no problem but if I had loads of space it would take a few goes!! Winston's got good taste in water.I remember as a kid on a hot summer's day in Scotland having a drink out of a fast flowing stream.Best water ever and ice cold.Glad to see the bug zapper was working overtime at your last camp but you don't need it now.Safe travels.See you on the next.

Nothing wrong with taking a couple of days out from your busy touring schedule to catch up on work. You are still in a beautiful environment away from the usual daily grind. If it takes the pressure off, you will also enjoy the adventuring more, without the nagging feeling of being behind in your work. Just my own experiences shared here.

I'm in America and I find it cute that 5 hour drive is long. I know America is much larger, but for example I'm from Memphis TN and to go to my parents house which is in East Tennessee on the Virginia border it's 12 hours. Don't get me started on Texas. You could drive 24 hours and still only see a third of the state. We just travel we pick a place hit the interstate and drive. But I so enjoy watching your videos and Winston of course.

Found that the bumpy roads had seized the door lock, ended up with half the site helping me, WD4O , Fairly liquid, nothing worked. Then I had a brain wave(unusual). Old van had the door stay that was operated from the inside of the door. Unscrewed it and gave me just enough room to get a wire through into the inside door handle. Never happened again!

Don’t worry about your dog drinking. Ours never drink when walking or traveling. He will drink when he want just like our Chihuahuas. Just like us we like water in the area we live in but not so much when we travel. Look at the torus water holder and put in bottled water if he does not drink local water. This may be why he like streams and such they taste better to him.
