@@felinegood-livingtheferall4340 Always love to hear from you, Larry -- thanks for matching the handle to the name for me. One hour per minute of produced video is precisely the calculus we expect. Last summer we were doing two per week, too, to try to jump-start the channel! Our workhorse camera is a Sony Alpha a6500 mirrorless with their G-Series 18-105mm lens, which is f4.0 throughout the range. We have a 35mm f1.8 lens for it, too, which we seldom use. We also use a DJI Osmo+ for driving shots, a GoPro Hero 5 and, of course, the drone which is a DJI Mavic Pro. For the mic we use a Rode VideoMicro which is an awfully good value (currently $56 on Amazon). For software we're using Cyberlink PowerDirector, which comes in both subscription (PowerDirector 365) and own-it-outright (PowerDirector 18) flavors. We've been using PowerDirector for years at our own expense, but in the interest of full disclosure Cyberlink has recently begun providing us with our PowerDirector 365 subscription on a complimentary basis. We've put all of our photography/video/editing gear in one section of our Amazon Store www.amazon.com/shop/grandadventure?listId=29P8DKMLOCJAX just to be able to point folks to what we use when we're asked. (Standard disclaimer: that's our Amazon Affiliate program.) For soundtrack music, we license our tracks from Soundstripe.com under their all-you-can-eat monthly subscription. IIRC it's ~$15/month and you only need to have a license on the date the video first appears on RUclips; after that, you own the license in perpetuity. They're a little heavy on electronic dance, but by digging around a bit you can find some true gems in their catalog. One thing we like for the way that we edit is that you can filter by track length, a search feature that other popular licensing companies like Endemic Sound don't provide. When we start a video segment, the first thing we do is lay the clips in our preferred order on the timeline, which gives us an approximate length of the segment. We're then able to filter Soundstripe by the segment length, then browse those search results for a track that provides the proper mood. No worries on the questions, I love answering them!
@@GrandAdventure ... Professor Guido you should contact a few colleges about teaching a class on "Social Media - Presence/marketing". You really have a gift Marc and are a valuable resource. Also think about contacting the Department of Tourism of the various State/County locations you have traveled. They may be willing to invest in you to produce video marketing pieces they can use for their web sites. I bet you could use a lot of the footage you already have on hand. All you would need to do is change the intro to meet their requirements. In addition you might also want to take on a college intern to travel with you over the Summer months. Having a "sharp" intern for six weeks or so could provide you with a break from all the editing and production time (or not). It could even establish a relationship with an institution of high learning if you ever consider going that route. Your #1 Fan in Florida. Larry Livengood
@@felinegood-livingtheferall4340 you're much too kind, Larry! We've sniffed around a state tourism department or two looking to leverage some funding to help sponsor some of our videos or travel, but couldn't even garner a nibble. That's OK, though, for this way we get to do things on our own terms, beholden to no one. Interesting idea on the internship, though. When we started the channel we never envisioned it earning more than beer money. It was just a creative outlet to share our videography. Right now, though, with the numbers we're at, the channel produces a respectable second income. It wasn't that way until only recently, but it's finally at the point where it actually defrays our travel expenses. Surprisingly (or perhaps not so), compared with our RUclips ad share, the heavy lifting is done by our Amazon Store, which depending on the month accounts for half to two-thirds of our revenue stream. If we've already talked about this I apologize, but remind me where you're at in Florida? We spent 8 years in the Sarasota/Bradenton area.
I agree, I lived in San Antonio from 2014-2016 and realized the lack of public lands, for me this makes Padre Island such an attraction to be able to boondock on the beach just as you did, but timing is impeccable as you learned due to the heat! For these reasons I took the opportunity to move back to Idaho when it presented itself, one never knows the value of public land until you don’t have the option. Even at that, I really enjoyed my time in San Antonio and hope to return soon, next time to just visit and explore. Thanks for refreshing my memories!
Could not agree more than the last comment , it’s always a pleasure to watch anything with Marc and Grand adventure and we learn so much from you too over here in damp gloomy London, but the sun is always shinning there ! Mark we've been watching you for a while. You inspired us to do what we've always wanted to do. Hopefully our paths will cross one day and we'll get to meet you. Keep up the great work.
You need to go a little farther north of New Braunfels and San Antonio to get into the heart of the Texas Hill Country, I'm a native. My family settled south of Bertrum, Texas, in 1846 just west of Balcones fault, which is pretty much in the center of the Hill Country. Nothing wrong with New Braunfels or San Antonio, I have relatives in each, but that would be the southern extremes of the Hill Country of Texas. By the way, I remember seeing them build the Canyon Lake dam.
@@GrandAdventure Allow me to suggest Lake Buchanan just west of Burnet on 29, it's a hidden treasure, and you're going to want to come from Liberty Hill west along 29 through Bertrum to Burnet, it's a beautiful drive, and from Burnet to Lake Buchanan is incredible.
Excellent video once again! We’re enjoying the Fort Worth area right now and you just gave us the idea for our next destination. I’m thinking we don’t want to rush through Texas. Thanks again for sharing. Safe travels!
As always a great video. We are headed out on our first trip since retiring and will be staying @ Potters Creek just across the lake from were you stayed. Our stay will be in February, hopefully not too cold. Guess it will be better than the weather here in Virginia.
We hear that the deer are just crazy over at Potters Creek, and they take deer corn right out of your hand at dusk. Hope you two enjoy your stay as much as we did, and congrats on your retirement!
Mark, Very nice video and drone footage. You did a great job. At first I thought I found a new RV park I didn't know about but when you said Corps of engineers that told me why I didn't know about. There are several Corps of engineers park that are beautiful BUT.... NO 50 amp, NO sewer. That leaves me out. I don't know why they can't update their parks. But Hey.... keep those videos coming, you're doing a good job.
Thanks so much Tommy! Confirmed no sewer at site in Cranes Mill, although there's a dump station at the entrance. I never noticed if there's 50A at the pedestal.
Thank you for sharing this video. It is enjoyable to come along with you. I noticed that you have a slide out on the curb side of your RV. Is that a very common thing. Thinking it isn't. Thanks again for giving a good look at so many places. ATB, Bill
Thanks for coming along, Bill! The patio-side kitchen slide containing our fridge, range and some counter space and cabinetry is indeed unusual. In our case it's directly opposite our larger slide that contains our dinette, so the slides oppose one another. That allows our relatively small 26' trailer to open up to 15' wide, making it very, very roomy for just the two of us and our dog. Our galley includes an island sink; it's a very unusual floor plan. Sure, we lose a bit of patio space thanks to that 3' kitchen slide, but it's a trade-off that we're more than willing to accept. Here's a real quick walkthrough on a dealer's RUclips channel: ruclips.net/video/6fM0hwObVXk/видео.html
Hi! I recently stayed in two Corp of Engineer campgrounds in MN this past summer and was very impressed. Cranes Mill Park looks like a gem! I have watched several of your Texas vids and it looks like you are having a grand adventure!
It was a wonderful swing through Texas, Randi! And even though this was our last Texas episode this trip, we still have a couple of terrific stops coming up from our travel back to Utah: Carlsbad Caverns National Park, and Roswell, NM. And while this may have been our first COE experience, it certainly won't be our last.
Hey Marc, yes New Braunfels is an absolutely gorgeous place. My parents moved there about 35 years ago and are still in love with it! It's amazing watching the deer stroll by the dining room window at any given time of day. I'll be up there in the spring and I can't wait!! Another terrific video thank you.
Yes Congratulations on 30K. Been watching for quite awhile now and look forward to the next video every week. San Antonio is definitely on our bucket list.
Hey friend! That looks like an awesome site! My wife just informed me while we were talking about our 10 rv question video (that I accidentally deleted the footage from) that apparently Texas is on her must see list (I know that's pretty broad, I mean it's such a small state). I love COE campgrounds. I think its a great deal for the money, especially with a pass. I wish I could find more Boondocking here around us in TN/GA though. I'm mounting my Generator in the rig this weekend and then putting my solar panels on this new rig so we are getting closer to the freedom. But I only know of a few spots. A lot of the ones I know, are way back in the mountain roads where you wouldn't want to take a 50 ft rig! lol
Hey Barratt! Thanks so much for watching and for commenting. As East Coast natives ourselves, we know too well that boondocking opportunities back there are too few and far between. I'm not sure that I would've been an RV camper had we stayed back there; when we'd camp, we'd usually backpack into the mountains -- usually the Adirondacks -- and set up somewhere deep in the backcountry. But Texas is ridiculously diverse, from mountains reaching nearly 9,000 feet ruclips.net/video/0wnGAMSo3aI/видео.html to boondocking on remote beaches ruclips.net/video/SqY-UIfQnRQ/видео.html to the Hill Country that you saw in this video. We really enjoyed our six-week swing through Texas, and we've barely begun to scratch the surface, so we'll most certainly be back.
You find the best places!!!!!! Loved the music you chose. Fit so well with what I was seeing. Very cool. Safe travels! Can not wait to do the river walk someday.
Thank you, Christina! Coming from you that means the world to us. This was maybe only the second time we used a soundtrack that included a song with vocals, but the lyrics seemed to fit so well with what we were trying to accomplish. Tailwinds and happy trails to both of you as well. Now, send some snow our way, will ya? LOL
@@GrandAdventure Marc, you got out just in time. It's been in the low twenties the last two nights. Had to get a new space heater for my travel trailer... Gord
@@GrandAdventure Marc, it's treasonous to have this level of cold in Texas this early in the season... Actually, this will likely be the coldest we get the whole season.🙄 Gord
Interesting question, William. Seeing as this was our last Texas stop on this trip I'll play. For me there were two standouts. One was Big Bend National Park. I was enamored with both the terrain and the solitude, and being right on the border held its own special charm with that vast land right across that tiny river that was off limits to me. The other favorite, the double murder on our doorstep notwithstanding, was boondocking on Padre Island National Seashore. For Mrs. GA, her two favorites were Rockport and New Braunfels. Rockport just held a coastal small town charm that left her smitten. And New Braunfels just had that cozy, historic down home vibe that she really felt connected to.
@@GrandAdventureThe murders were tragic but very rare/uncommon. Mrs. GA is going to love Fredericksburg. Plan on touring the German culture museum. They have a couple of the old style "Sunday" houses on display. The german families that had farms outside of town would come to town Saturday shop and spend the night in town so they could go to church on Sunday. If you can come back in the springtime there are the carpets of Bluebonnets along all the roads. There is also a farm that grows wildflowers for the seeds just outside of Fredericksburg on the way to the LBJ ranch. Next time in San Antonio go to the Spanish Governor's Palace and eat here. www.mitierracafe.com/
@@WILDEBILL308 excellent advice all the way around, William -- thank you so much! Hope that our viewers take note as well. As for the Padre Island murders, we agree -- that was a fluke case of "wrong place, wrong time." An aberration that could have happened anywhere, and one that isn't necessarily tied to RV living. That said, having camped right next to the Butlers' trailer in the week leading up to the crime, and having talked briefly with the suspect ourselves who was camped only a few hundred yards from our beach boondocking spot, that one really shook us as a bit too close to home. I'd return to Padre Island boondocking in a heartbeat, but I'm not sure that Mrs. GA feels the same way.
@@GrandAdventure I can understand why she might feel that way. I hope I am not working on being one of those who keep telling you "You should have gone hear" Just offering suggestions.

Marc, I loved this adventure. What great footage of the magnificent mission and then River Walk was perfect. I think spring time would be one of the best times to visit the area when everything is green and lush and the flowers and blossoms are coming out. I also loved the New Braunfels/Guerne coverage. What a quaint little place. I can see you didn't even have time to kayak the lake at the RV site. You definitely need to do another visit to this location. Gord
We too think that spring would be perfect, Gord. And we absolutely loved the New Braunfels area, so we'll definitely be back. Any place Mrs. GA loves warrants a return. LOL! We had one evening earmarked for paddling but it turned out to be cold, windy and rainy. That left us one evening for New Braunfels, and another evening for San Antonio, before it was time to get back on the road. Because we worked business hours Monday-Friday from the rig on this trip, we had to do our big travel days on weekends, so come Saturday morning we left Canyon Lake to make a marathon drive to Carlsbad, NM.
@@GrandAdventure Marc, you did as much as you could. But isn't it great when you can't do it all in one visit. That means a second visit us in order. A twofer... Gord
@@gorrdd so true. If I had a buck for everyone who tells us, "You should've seen X" we'd be millionaires. And my stock response is, "That just gives us one more reason to return."
Not silly at all! It was a bit too chilly for us to consider swimming, but there were folks out wakeboarding in wetsuits so we're sure the water is fine. In warmer climates you need to keep an eye out for green algea that can be toxic, so always check.

Sadly, Texas is a little out of our range for the moment. We’re still camping in our county! Gualala Beach in mid December! Marc - your videos are da Bomb!!
Thanks, Ram! We had to look up Gualala Beach, but that looks perfect. Texas would be out of our range, too, were it not for finding a wonderful new employer that believes in making professional goals match personal goals whenever possible. It was actually one of my superiors who suggested that we work from the road, after I had only been there for 2.5 months. So while we're home for winter to enjoy the ski season, we plan on doing much more travel in 2020 than we did in 2019, more like what we were able to enjoy and share in 2018.
That sounds like my kind of employer!! Hopefully, in a couple more years, I won’t have to worry about an employer! 😉 Gualala will be our second outing with our trailer.

Wow, San Antonio another amazing place to visit. No wonder why so many are moving to Texas . . . Its got EVERYTHING !
Everything but a lot of public land, boondocking opportunities across Texas are very few and far between.
@@GrandAdventure Great to know fact 👍
I agree, I lived in San Antonio from 2014-2016 and realized the lack of public lands, for me this makes Padre Island such an attraction to be able to boondock on the beach just as you did, but timing is impeccable as you learned due to the heat! For these reasons I took the opportunity to move back to Idaho when it presented itself, one never knows the value of public land until you don’t have the option. Even at that, I really enjoyed my time in San Antonio and hope to return soon, next time to just visit and explore. Thanks for refreshing my memories!
@@Kaiakka we enjoyed our brief visit as well, and look forward to an opportunity to return to explore more. Thanks for sharing your perspective!

Such an excellent vid Marc.
Thank you so much!
Very cool, Cajun Wolf! Yeah, we knew we were on the fringes, and next time we'll certainly explore further north.
@@CajunWolffe thank you for what is surely excellent advice, we will bookmark it for our return!

welcome to texas, bubba...
Thank you! We really enjoyed our time there.
Awesome drone footage. Love all the water there. Great video!
Thank you so much!
Grand Adventure Looking forward to watching more!
@@RandisAdventures and we look forward to having you along...thank you.
Fabulous! Thank you! 🤠
Thank you as always, Marian! Stay warm up there.
Hey Marc, yes New Braunfels is an absolutely gorgeous place. My parents moved there about 35 years ago and are still in love with it! It's amazing watching the deer stroll by the dining room window at any given time of day. I'll be up there in the spring and I can't wait!! Another terrific video thank you.
thank you Petra! We were fascinated by the plethora of deer, it wasn't something that we expected and it's too bad that it was too dark to film them.
Welcome to Texas and the hill country! Hope you enjoyed your time here, like your videos!!
Thank you Ronnie! We had a wonderful visit.
Yes Congratulations on 30K. Been watching for quite awhile now and look forward to the next video every week. San Antonio is definitely on our bucket list.
Thanks NonRev for being one of our most regular regulars!
Congrats on 30k
Thank you so much for being a part of it, Jimmy!
LOL
Grand Adventure agreed! Great video! No snow!! 😅😂
@@TheMcMillanExpress yeah, with 10 days to opening day of ski season that's pretty much our story here: "No snow!" Hey winter, c'mon baby!

@@GrandAdventure Marc, you got out just in time. It's been in the low twenties the last two nights. Had to get a new space heater for my travel trailer...
Gord
@@gorrdd man up, that's not so bad! 😉😆
@@GrandAdventure Marc, it's treasonous to have this level of cold in Texas this early in the season... Actually, this will likely be the coldest we get the whole season.🙄
Gord
@@gorrdd of course, 'twas just teasing of course. That blast of Canadian air was most impressive for early November.
Now you have a taste of the area. What did you like best?
@@WILDEBILL308 not at all! We love getting local hints, so thank you. We're all about hole-in-the-wall restaurants, local watering holes, and unique bits of local history.
@@GrandAdventure Amen to that...
Sorry if it sounds a little silly but when you come to places like this near the water are you typically allowed to go in and swim
Not silly at all! It was a bit too chilly for us to consider swimming, but there were folks out wakeboarding in wetsuits so we're sure the water is fine. In warmer climates you need to keep an eye out for green algea that can be toxic, so always check.

Thanks for the help!!
Sadly, Texas is a little out of our range for the moment. We’re still camping in our county! Gualala Beach in mid December!
Marc -
your videos are da Bomb!!
Gualala will be our second outing with our trailer.
@@laughingram7287 honestly, they rock. After working 29 years for firms with 10K employees or more, I'm now at an insanely profitable company with maybe 100 employees.
