I really appreciate you pausing the video at signs so we can read them. No one else does that. Hopefully others will catch on.
I like that too! Nice touch
Ever since I first saw him do it, Love It. The wife just said it again, too. Great episode. Pretty scenery
The humidity is absolutely insane down here right now!
Amazing place! We love going there.
👋🏼 Hey, JD!
I cannot tell you both how relaxing this video was today for me to just sit back and enjoy the scenery and the joy of the ride of that bike was just amazing. Just love your videos so much. Stay blessed and safe out there.
I had to stop riding my Victory Vision about 5 years ago because of medical issues. Watching this video made me miss riding so much. I was leaning into every curve with you on the ride. Thank you.
You actually made me lol with your comment "Look kids, Big Ben! Parliament!".
We've been stationary for 7 months now in S Texas. Your video makes me hanker to get back on the road! On the other hand I am trying to embrace this phase in our RV life and not waste a moment waiting for the next .❤
The Pacific War museum in Fredericksburg is a multi day visit.
The hill country and the Fredericksburg area is great to visit. Looked like you had a lot of fun.
Hi, a german here. Ratskeller in Germany is normally a restaurant / tavern beneath the Rathaus (townhall). They are an old tradition in Germany and way back in time when this started these taverns were only open for the Ratsherren (Rulers of the city).
Cheers
Volker
Ha! Loved the "Big Ben, Parliament" comment.. such a funny movie!
We love KOAs. Recently stayed at our 1st KOA Resort. It was incredible the things they had at Mt Rushmore/Palmer. This was more of a destination stay itself. Lots of families. We like to use our stays as a base camp and explore the surrounding areas. We belong to the rewards program and stay enough to pay for the yrly charge.
The road surface that you said looked like gravel stuck in tar is called chip and seal. The road oil seals cracks and preserves the asphalt on existing roads, or can be a stand alone surface that is much cheaper than asphalt. The gravel basically keeps you out of the oil
You did great by picking Firefly and the Fredericksburg area. We spend a lot of time there and were at Firefly for Memorial Day. Luckenbach is great as well as hiking Enchanted Rock. Another part of the hill country worth seeing is the Bandera, Medina, Utopia area. The scenery is amazing and lots to enjoy. Glad y'all enjoyed a sweet part of Texas. Hope y'all have safe travels
I am so glad to see content creators enjoying their RVs and sharing their adventures. So many of the other channels have gotten away from RVing and have turned into a totally negative experience. The length and quality of their videos is disappointing. Some of them seem to just talk about anything to get paid. I have personally unsubscribed from many of them recently. Thank you for staying the course and sharing the good side of traveling in a RV with all of us.
You visited the Hill Country during one of the most spectacular wildflower seasons I have seen in many years.
Could always check in with the local chapter. 23-3. 3 Sisters is a loop, but any road between Bandera and Kerville is beautiful...he'll just stay on 16 and you will see amazing beauty. You don't have to do the whole loop. Bent Rim Grill is a great place for a beer and a burger. Couple of Motorcycle Museums out there too.
Dripping Springs is wonderful with all the hiking and natural sites to see!
My grandma loves your channel and especially your motorcycle rides!!
My wife n I really enjoy your videos. Especially your journeys. Stay safe out there. RC from Havelock, NC retired USMC
Thank you for your service! 🇺🇸
Really enjoyed the sightseeing and touring; thanks! For the first time, I'm starting to think it would be fun to have a motorcycle. 🙂
Enjoyed your video! I have spent several trips in that area and enjoyed reliving it. We spent about 5 days in Fredericksberg, Greune, New Braunfels, and Kerrville area. Did a little 5 stand sporting clays shooting in Kerrville, the Olympic Training Facility. It was really nice and lot of fun. We used to ride our bicycles in the Tour de Gruene bike ride several years during the Wurstfest in October. The bike ride was 100K. The first part left Gruene and went along the Guadeloupe River for about 17 miles. Must have crossed the river 4 separate times. Beautiful ride, I know you'd enjoy it on your motorcycle. We also spent time around Canyon Lake, which is fed by the Guadeloupe River. Went tubing on a section of it during one summer, extremely hot weather and cold river. Tubed by a music festival where Zac Brown Band was performing. Good times. Thanks again for your video, well done.
Waco has a bus tour drive throughout town to look at houses, but there is a wonderful spot that shows the landscape. It's beautiful!
Hello from the heart of the Twisted Sisters route, Leakey (La-Key). I grew up here and now it’s our home base.
You owe it to yourselves to make a return trip a little later in the spring to enjoy the wildflowers!
Safe travels!
Some civil contractors use what some call a rock box or dump box. As the excavator digs up unwanted or non-soil material, it puts it in the box and drag the box behind them as they move along.
Hi Chad and Tara, We live just outside of Houston and we have a Harley. We have ridden some of the roads in the Hill Country and it is absolutely beautiful. I am glad you got to see all the Bluebonnets. We have been to Luckenbach too. We were there on the weekend and was very crowded. Glad you are enjoying our beautiful Texas. Stay safe and enjoy!
I always enjoy watching your adventures. Give that darling Daisy some love from me❤️🐾🥰
Mississippi used to resurface roads like that and it was a windshield buster till all lose gravel either stuck or got off the road. That was a relaxing ride and beautiful scenery. Yall find some amazing places. I look forward to next weeks video.
Texas Hill Country, specifically Boerne, is on my list once I finally buy my travel trailer.
You guys are making me homesick. I love The Hill Country.
Have family in Kerrville, great place to stay - several nice RV parks and Medina Highway 16 is a great motorcycle road , and on that road - Apple Store!! - must stop !! Great burgers and their homemade apple pie ! Yummy!
Ahhh... That precious Daisy loves her Mama... 💗
I think you would enjoy Bandera, TX and also Wimberley TX. They're both in the Hill Country.
Allstate Brewery is a MUST! The WW 2 Museum is fantastic and could take 2 days to go through. Fredericksburg is one of our favorite places! Becker Vineyards is another great place!
That "pebbles laid on top of tar" is called a Chip and Seal.
Good to see your vids. I must say that I worry about you folks with all the frame failures. I hope all is well. Thanks for posting!
14:26 Must have been one hell-of-a peanutbutter cup!
😂🤣
Very entertaining! Your hard work putting this, and all of your videos is very much appreciated!
Also, watch for deer out there. They are EVERYWHERE, especially at dusk and dawn. They pay no attention to crossing areas.
I have driven through the Texas Hill Country by car & truck, but never by motorcycle. Thanks for posting!! It is such incredibly beautiful country!!
You drove right by it coming into town. If you didn't visit the Nimitz Museum, you haven't seen Fredericksburg. The old hotel belonged to Adm. Chester Nimitz' parents and the interior shows his life story and everything WWII in the Pacific theater.
The atom bomb, the Japanese captured subs, the Japanese peace garden…. That museum is amazing!
On the list for next time! 😊
Love Fredericksburg! Have RVd there many times. Love your videos, Daisy is awesome.
Ohhh I live here! Hill Country is amazing. A lil hot right now. 😀
Good to see you 2 having some fun on the bike!
Welcome to SA during rush hour, and don’t talk about the heat and humidity, WOW! We are building a new home in Valdese NC and can’t wait!!!!!
Looks like we just missed you. We stayed at Firefly on 3/12-3/14.
Great video! Thanks for taking me along! 👍🇺🇸
What a beautiful tour. Thank you!
Thanks for the ride on the motorcycle although I would like to see one without music and just listening to your pipes as you roar down the road love the dog
Keep the music. Good stuff.
The parking lot you parked in is by a restaurant called the hitching post. They make the best chicken fried steak in the area. Hope y'all enjoyed our town.
FM 1323 goes from HWY 16 all the way to HWY 281. The wild flowers on 1323 from Willow City to 281 were magnificent this year! We live in San Antonio and when we drive the Willow City Loop, we always come from the 281 because of the flowers. Also, the flowers this year peaked earlier than normal. When we get to end of the Willow City Loop, we turn right on 16 and go to Llano to eat BBQ at Cooper’s Pit BBQ. Then we will head east on HWY 71 to Marble Falls for pie and Blue Bonnet Cafe… As far as best of the Hill country, that’s too subjective because it’s all beautiful. You were in a good spot, right in the middle so you could go both north and south easily to enjoy it all…
Love gettin out for a ride on Lucille. The music was great too. That is rotten about the backhoe noise.
Nice ride through the farmland
The type of pavement you were riding on was chip seal. It's an alternative to asphalt pavement, and we drove on it last summer while driving the famous 'Road to McCarthy' in Alaska.
The wall of trees on both sides route of 1376 and the blue sky horizon made for a narrow but scenic drive. Absolutely beautiful. ❤
Love Tara’s hat. Can spend a while walking around that store.
My wife and I were stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany for 6yrs. We visited Luchenbach. It was a quaint little village. Most German towns were and are very friendly people. If you were American military they would buy you drinks. You made friends, I still stay in contact with some after 30 yrs of leaving Germany. Some have come here and stayed with us for vacation. We showed them around. We live in Louisville, KY. We take them to Mammoth Cave and the Smokies. We have a blast. I want to visit Fredericksburg, TX and Leavenworth, WA. I am 3/4 German, 1/4 Scottish
Hope you ate at Vaudeville and Hill and Vine. We moved out just past Kerrville from Houston about 5 years ago I will die out here. Hill Country is HEAVEN on earth. Traded the Joneses for wildlife which are the best neighbors by far!
Love you include the date of filming! Looked like an amazing bike ride! I always forget that Lukenbach Texas had a German heritage . Duh 😂. Safe travels! - Mike and Shelley
What a beautiful day for a ride!
That was so fun. The walk through Fredericksburg and the bike ride was awesome. What a wonderful area, and really very pretty. I'm with you I didn't know there were mountain areas like that. Best of all was precious Daisy. That precious little girl is absolutely adorable. She has such a precious little face and personality. You guys are soooo blessed by her.
I loved Texas Hill country. I went to a dude ranch in Bandara. I had a great time, went to the smallest bar with a sawdust floor and listened to a live band. Beautiful landscape. Great video ❤❤
The road surface you were driving on while on the Willow City Loop is known as a "macadam" surface. It's usually comprised of multiple layers of similar size rock/gravel/pebbles held in place by an oil-based tar, although in some instances an organic rubber-based tar is used. It's kinda a pre-courser to modern day asphalt and isn't very widely used in the US these days, as it's not quit as structurally stable as asphalt or concrete, as it's especially susceptible to deformation due to use during periods of high heat. However, my understanding is that it is less expensive than asphalt, which makes it a good choice for surfacing a road that, while not highly used, has enough traffic volume on it to make leaving the surface graded dirt more expensive to maintain than installing a macadam surface would be. Macadam road surfaces are widely used elsewhere in the world, especially in developing countries. If you have any interest in learning more about macadam, it has an interesting history and goes back, I think, to the Roman Empire. I'm not certain what was originally used as the binding agent to hold the rock substrate together, but do know that macadam was widely used as airport runway finish surface in the times prior to the advent of jets. And the ONLY reason I know this much about macadam is because a lot of world-wide travelers in the pre-jet age, who wrote books about their travels, used the phrase "lifted from the macadam" or "touched down on the macadam" when describing their air travels. I read a lot of those books as a young teen in the 60's and 70's, had no idea what macadam was, so went to my local library (obviously pre-internet days) to find out. Macadam surfaces don't hold up well in conditions of high speed traffic, which is why you don't see it used much anymore.
You can check out any time you like but you can never leave 🎶
We ate at the Ratskeller in Münich last Oktober!
The Schnitzel was Awesome!!
Hondo’s makes the best margarita (hand squeezed lime juice). Nothing like the Hill Country!
PS I have a good friend who lived in Texas and took his motorcycle for hill country/blue bonnet rides and I am asking him the best ones. He mentioned the Butler’s Motorcycle maps. They have one especially for the Texas Hill country and mention some hidden gems.
Thank you for taking me to Texas. I have never been there and doubt that I'll be able to do that trip. :)
So glad y’all got to see the bluebonnets! Did you go over to Ingram and see Stonehedge II? The coming kingdom prayer garden on top of the hill in Kerrville has a spectacular view. You should come back to Fredericksburg when it’s all dressed up for Christmas and also take a ride to Johnson City to see the lights there. For twisted sisters, you can try out Garner State Park or lost Maples or any of the RV parks in Bandera. Fall is beautiful in the Hillcountry.
😂holy crap😂 spot coffee all over my laptop at the European Vacation reference 😂😂
Welcome tah my part's guys -
Love your RUclips Channel! See your in the Fredericksburg area! we used to stay (in our motor home) at the SunSet Point RV campsite. (not part of the military camping as some maps say). Each site has a view of the lake and many trees. Keep up the good work!
Another great bucket list destination!! And ya'll put in some great music this week, love it all! Thanks for sharing.
I was curious to find out which mac and cheese was the best, but seeing Lucille after her long hiatus intrigued me even more. Love those rides!😊
Thanks for sharing that part of the video Chad we got lost at TTO coming in late from the Tampa RV show rode around for about 22 minutes😢
HI CHAD & TARA 👋
LOOKED LIKE A LOT OF FUN ON THE HARLEY DAVIDSON. GORGEOUS RIDE , GREAT LOOKIN MEALS TOO ! THEY NEEDED ARROWS OR SIGNS TO GET AROUND THE CAMPGROUNDS, L.O.L. NOT FUN . LITTLE ONE LOOKS SO HAPPY ALL THE TIME ❤
THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME TAG ALONG WITH YOU BOTH ALWAYS ON YOUR ADVENTURES!
Bandera is good area. Garner State park. Kerville. Highway 16 from Kerville to Medina is a beautifully ride on the bike Anywhere in hill country is good
Great video guys and some awesome rides can’t wait to have that life style. Keep them coming and safe travels.
Definitely Bandera home of the cowboy. Plenty of history, artisans, and it is one of the 3 corners of the 3 sisters triangle, one of the best motorcycle rides in the US!
Great ride through a section in Hill Country, I really enjoyed the tag-a-long, much appreciated.
Look at the Marble Falls area. Also, the town of Kerrville is nice, beautiful scenery along the Guadalupe River
Beautiful episode and top notch editing. Thank you for sharing your journeys.
Great video guys!
It was so nice to see you two again. The sites are so nice. Love the video on the bike. Glad you had good weather. Do you know when you will be heading back to the cabin? Again Thank you for the videos.
In the hill country, be sure to visit New Braunfels, Gruene, Boerne and Wimberly. Gruene is a great half day trip.
We visited the hill country approximately 2 weeks after you. We rode the Willow City Loop and were treated to amazing spring flower blooms. We also rode Twisted Sisters twice! Fortunate to have the time❤.
Y'all ate @ the Rathskeller! Our favorite German food restaurant. It's about the only reason we go to Fredericksburg anymore. The museum is a great visit as well.
Willow City loop is only really good when the flowers are in bloom.
I really hope y'all rode the sisters while you were in the hill country.
What a beautiful ride
Here from Kerrville. The Twisted Sisters is a must especially during the fall.
Great Video! Just found you on RUclips and subscribed. Love all your content and music. The Tucker’s from The Woodlands, Tx.
I do love the Hill Country! I will have to remember the loop
Great Video Awesome towns & beautiful scenery ❤ 🐶I know you have told us "the breed" Daisy🌼 is but I can't remember 🤔 She's so adorable 🥰‼️ Perfect dog for seniors in retirement 😊 Safe Travels & btw the food looks amazing 😋😋😋‼️
Great video!!!
Thanks for the Video
Especially the spot you had 167. Based on this I am going to change our reservation from 167 to another spot away from the morning construction.
So glad you are enjoying Texas.
Places we like for camping are Concan, Leakey and Bandera.
But any place in the hill country is great, as well as so many places to ride.
Willow City Loop is an assume ride.
Thank you for sharing.
Spent the past weekend one spot down at Firefly site #168. Will never go back! 10 people two spots down #170 thought it was okay to party and play music every night until 1:30AM. Management no where around on the weekend , and when I finally did get to speak to mgt. on Monday I was made to believe it was my fault because I did not call them in which I did their main phone system was down.... Never again!!! To many other nice RV parks in the area to deal with that.
You have to be careful on those low water crossings if there is water flowing over it. Those things build up algae and become very slick. Very easy to drop your bike even if you ar going slow with the training wheels down.
We love Hill country, Fredericksburg, and discoveries. Hope you get to the National Museum of The Pacific. Admiral Nimitz!! Did you eat German food? Schnitzel
Welcome y'all to Texas. Fredericksburg is the capital of Texas Hill Country. You can walk that city for days, and if you don't find something good to eat there, ya ain't human.
There are several of the "city loops", all are beautiful especially if you hit at prime blooming time. The bluebonnets and indian paint brush just cover complete pastures and hillsides.
Beautiful area for riding a motorcycle, as y'all saw.
Y'all mentioned humidity, after about the end of January, you can expect 80 to 90 degree temps and about 100 to 135 % humidity. You turn on a dehumidifier, it'll generally just start laughing at you !
If your lucky enough to be here in mid-June through mid-September , you can expect temps about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the surface of the sun. LOL
Seriously, y'all did pick one of the most beautiful areas in Texas to visit. Ant area of the Hill country is good.
When we go to and from San Antonio from DFW area, I prefer taking hwy 281 over I-35. For the most part 281 parallels 35, but a much much prettier drive. You do end up going through several of the smaller, nice hill country cities that way.
Anyway or anywhere you go in cantral Texas, you can't go wrong.
Enjoy your visit to Texas.
God bless and stay safe on the road out there.
How do you keep your adorable doggie from crying when you leave her in the rv. We have a little dog (peanut) that looks just like your puppy, but she cries every time we leave her by he's self.
The wife and I visited Fredricksberg and Lukenbach this past winter. What a great place, we will return as we need to see the other 2/3 res of the museum of the pacific. Lol. Safe travels
We had a blast with Phil and Stacy here for New Years! We stayed at Firefly, don’t think I would stay there again. There was a RV park down the road that looked nice! Also we ate at the Alstad brewery, and it was awesome!
We stay in Fredricksburg about twice a year whenever we head West to visit family. Great wineries, in fact our last stay was at the Texas Collective for a Harvest Host stay. It was amazing! You should see Fredricksburg all dressed up for Christmas!
