  • Subtitle Edit is one of the most amazing free programs I've ever seen.
    I've started using this program a while ago to add translations in subtitles to my videos. And it works great.
    But instead of doing all this manually it can be done automatically! Including translations!
    Subtitle Edit has a Beta version that is just incredible.
    In this video I'll show you how to make this incredible feature work.

    Please bear in mind that although an indispensable help, AI translation requiresa professional post translation edition (MTPE)
    especially in the case of artistic/literary film subtitles.
    The scientific, instructable genre etc. is much simpler linguistically and easier for the AI to process,
    but in any case for the subtitle translation to be professional never neglect the expert's eye and practical knowledge.

    Can I make adjustments to subtitles like changing font size, moving the subtitles to the right or left, etc..?

    • @yosefk2864
      @yosefk2864  2 года назад +2

      Yes. The easiest way to do this is open your .srt file, highlight all of the subtitles (highlight the first one and then press Ctrl+A, right click on any of them and make your changes: bold, color, font name, allignment etc. You can also do this with individual lines. Save your changes. The advantage of doing this is that it remains a .srt file which you can upload to add to your RUclips videos. Another way is: open a subtitle file. in the menu bar there is a small drop down window that shows the format (extention) of the opened file, change this to "Advanced Sub Station Alpha (.ass)", additional buttons will now appear in the menu bar including one with a big "A" on it (Advanced Sub Station Alpha Styles). Press this button and a new window with the options you're looking for will appear. Make your adjustments and save with the .ass extention. This .ass file is not supported by RUclips so you can't upload it as a subtitle file. A solution to this is to burn-in the subtitles to your video: menu - video - generate video with burned-in subtitles, and then upload the video file to RUclips. Hope this is helpfull to you.

    • @yosefk2864
      @yosefk2864  2 года назад +1

      The easiest way to do this is by opening the google online dictation website (www.dictation.io), press the "launch dictation" button and choose your language. While playing your video (in Hindi), put a microphone in front of your loudspeaker, make sure the google dictation window is the active window. Google dictation should start typing out the text. The same can be done in Microsoft Word using the "Dictate" menu on the Home tab or using Google docs (www.docs.google.com) Tools - Voice typing. I've got a tutorial on this here: ruclips.net/video/SAF_sT5L0UI/видео.html

When I opened it back up however, the translation is gone, and it shows the original language in both the "Text" and "Original Text" fields. Does this ever happen to you? When saving make sure to save the original and the translation: To save the translated subtitles go to file - save as..

      I advise you to update to the latest version of Subtitle Edit: 4.0.3. so you can use the Whisper engine instead of the Vosk engine. Also you’ll have to download and install Python on our PC. Download from here: www.python.org/downloads/windows/ scroll down to Python 3.10.11 download windows installer (64-bit) or 32 according to your Windows bit-version. When installing Python make sure that “use admin privileges…” and add python.exe to PATH” are marked! Probably also the latest version of Python will work, but this is the version I use and it works.
      After installing Python open Subtitle Edit go to menu Video and open a video or audio file (Hebrew spoken) then also in the Video menu click Audio to Text (Whisper), for Engine select Purfview’s Faster-Whisper - you will be prompted to download - click OK, after that for Choose Model select large-v3 (3.1 GB), click OK to download. For Choose language, select Hebrew, make sure that Auto adjust timings is marked. Click Generate. It will take some 2 to 2.5 minutes for every minute of video to get the Hebrew transcription and the subtitles. This works great. Make sure that before you generate the subtitles in the Options - Settings menu to specify the max length and max number of lines. This will save you an awful lot of time because the Purfview’s Faster-Whisper engine will give you an almost perfect transcription of the Hebrew (and English and Dutch that I use myself) and an almost perfect sync of the subtitles.
      Only now go to Autotranslate - autotranslate and select translate from Hebrew to English. Click Translate and click OK. Mind you that this is a Google translation which is not perfect so you’ll have to make corrections. beHatzlacha!

    • @yosefk2864
      @yosefk2864  3 месяца назад

      In order to use Whisper in Subtitle Edit, you first have to install Python on your PC. Here's an install guide: docs.google.com/document/d/17kmDVTSsod4rf8CEKioPcFNAj89j6WX8/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=102331683582601201545&rtpof=true&sd=true
      I wrote this guide a while ago for someone who wanted to transcribe and autotranslate Hebrew audio files only, so just don't pay attention to that part in the guide. I use Subtitle Edit myself a lot, using the Whisper model will save you an awfull lot of time: the transcription is almost perfect and also the timing of the subtitles is almost perfect. In case you'll decide to uninstall, I think that also all the additional components will be uninstalled. Anyway feel free to contact me: yosefkdm@gmail.com

      If I understand your question correctly, yes. Here is a video of mine that explains how to synchronize subtitles. It's not addressing your question directly but it shows you later on in the video how to adjust the start and end time of the appearance of every subtitle fast and easy. ruclips.net/video/OKjfPXWIykA/видео.html
