Yeah, right? I could tell, a few seconds after my first try, Duck-Duck-Going “OBS for Mac Intro,” and things got worse, from there.
I was very lucky, to have found this, as quickly as I did-on the same day I first started D-DigG’ing it-but that’s still _four or five hours of _*_not watching productive videos_*_ that I could’ve done, instead_ of watching videos by people who can’t articulate the overarching point of their works... from whom it might not be so great, from whom to learn about OBS, under the circumstances, I just realized, in retrospect...
In any case, thanks much, @tech How ! You definitely have at least one more sub, and likely a good amount of others, coming -‘cause I’m _definitely_ gonna be telling students and colleagues *whose focus is on video production, specifically* (I teach mass comm (advanced) theory and research... ) about your channel...

thank you so much this works great !!!! the settings are a bit too high for me so it lags a bit but i see what i will have to change!! by the way guy if your screen is too stretched out and records only part of the screen right click and select transform and then fit to screen. do that again and click stretch. should fix the issue

Thing is my obs only shows audio mixer and controls that’s the only other setting I have how do I add the sources tab. And scenes tab?
What should the buffer size for streaming be at? I accidentally changed it and I can’t remember what it was before. Should I just not use a custom buffer size? Is it automatic? Please help!

Is this good for game streaming ? I’m trying to find a better studio where my live streams for RUclips comes out crisp , my troubles lately have been frames dropping like crazy and I’m just trying to find a better quality studio so I’ll try this out

Hi, im 1 year late to rhe video, trying to record on MacBook pro. I set the canvas and scaled resolution as yours but the aspect ratio is like very high in the 700. Is that normal? It’s 16:9 on 1080p but the screen is smaller so i set it to the same resolution as yours, the display fit perfectly but the aspect ratio says 700 and something. Idk what to do tbh.
I'm confused, so if the videos I am recording are about 30 mins each, how big is the size of the video in mp4?

set your encoder to x264 and the options should show
If your wondering why obs doesnt show up in the security and privacy settings. Unlock on the bottom left and click the + icon and select obs from your applications
For mine it says “no properties available”
How do I watch them, I can't find the app that will let me
I do display capture and it says I don’t have a display to connect to. I try browser and I have to type in a URL and the footage is always super small. I try window and my browser is never an option to select to record.

When i open the soundflower with installer at the end it says 'The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance' even though i did everything it told me to .

this happened to me too
You have to accept the pop up from system preferences which goes away really quickly, so you have to do that windows thing where you can see the desktop and the windows (F3). Hope this helps

@@MingMongMatt If you go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy you can enable OBS in their menus there. Make sure to click the lock and the bottom left to change these settings.

when it shows the "properties for screen capture", for me nothing shows up and instead shows "properties not available". it still allows me to create the source but it doesn't let me choose a display because the property is not connected and instead of just record a black display. does anybody know how to fix this?

So Go into OBS settings
Go to output
And it will say the file name close to the bottom
go to obs settings, output, recording tab, and wgere it says your recording path click on "browse" and if its grey then drag it out of the settings window and you should be able to open it :>
I recommend using /Users/(yournameorthing)/Desktop, so it saves to ur desktop

For the settings in OBS, I would skip the past the Streaming and Recording part of this tutorial, because these settings are really not good at all. For instance, 3500kbps at 1080P (and he had 60fps selected) will be incredibly grainy for streaming and CBR is not what you want for recording. You'll fill up your hard drive really quickly if you use CBR at 20Mbps bitrate...
I don't even have a CBR option. I think its just ABR, so... is that Auto Bit Rate or something? Bleh, this should be easier, ha.

@@BearcatJamboree Cool. Yeah, pretty much just starting to look into it, so I don't have a good handle on this stuff. Been trying various combinations of settings, capturing a cropped display vs capturing window... (Basically I want to watch/react to youtube videos with a friend via some kind of video call, maybe discord.) mid 2017 27" iMac, fully specced except only 1TB. I mean its not amazing, but should be able to record 60fps video, idk... I'll keep looking around.
