Holy crap man, I have been struggling with this for YEARS, I was using the interview setting on my yeti to pick up the audio from my speakers, that's how jank my set up was, I tried finding help at least 5 times and none of the videos were this simple. Thank you thank you
hmm the moment I went to preferences -> sound -> Audio for OBS it made all my sound go away. I couldn't hear you talk, and I can't hear anything on my desktop play (GarageBand, OBS sound, etc)
In the audio midi setup application, when you create the multi-output device, select the Macbook speakers as well, so that it can play simultaneously with your desktop audio. So when you change your setup audio in systems preferences and select the "Audio for OBS" that you created, you can record desktop audio while hearing sound through your speakers.
Had the exact same problem and nothing was working until I tried this: Go to desktop audio (on OBS) Go to advanced properties Make sure monitor and output is selected. This allows OBS to monitor the signal and output the signal from your device
for me it has the same problem but when I check for my headphones they are not there. when I click the input capture I get a lot of echoing. Is anyone else having this problem?

@@jamie206 I think it might work. That’s what I tried. It seems like for Macs the entire system needs to refresh to take on the change. Shouldn’t take long. Let me know if restarting worked if you want!
Thanks for posting this, super helpful, the fact OBS *doesn't* have this at least as a default option is one of the more frustrating oversights that should've been fixed in one of their many many updates.
I used to try and do this with Soundflower back in the days (and the OBS version still installed on my Mac was v0.16.2 lol) and it was so hard and unclear for the young me lol. Thankfully today you have new, easy ways (Blackhole) and great tutorials (yours!)! Thanks chief!

For those who experience no sound; Make sure that blackhole is selected First in your multi output device ! You can switch position by clicking the little blue check arrow...
@@3wnugg121 in your mac settings go to midi device ( little keyboard icon ) Thats the place to create a multi output device. By clicking on blackhole and your audio interface just make sure that the first one selected is the blackhole application instead of the interface. I mean literally that blackhole should be on top and underneath should be selected your audio interface. You can change position by switching on/off that selection button… if your mic doesn’t work make sure you plug it in in port 1 of the audio interface.. it worked for me but I don’t know your problem exactly so. Let me know if that helped els i make a video in which I explain it more clearly

I just followed these exact directions. I watched the video again when it wasn't working and I did not miss a step anywhere. There's no audio from the Quest 2 to my computer. I installed black hole, set up the midi settings, named it and put the desktop speakers and blackhole as the outputs in the check boxes. Went into oculus headset to cast, chose computer, went to the link and I can see the oculus screen in OBS but there's no audio.
