Finally a tutorial for mac! This is a really helpful video - thank you! One question, under output > recording > encoder settings > rate control, I only have the option for ABR, and do not see CRF as shown in the tutorial. Do you have any ideas?
    (Macbook Pro 2019, Intel i9, 32GB RAM)

I have noticed many things are native to Apple’s silicon: M1, M2, M3. Maybe it’s that but maybe there’s a separate setting in OBS you have set and it limits which rate control you can access? I tried Goog’n for an answer to see if it’s in that category but not finding an answer. Just wanted to give you a couple leads.😊
Edit: Senpai Gaming and MidnightMan are just 2 of the RUclips bros that helped me learn how to do this. I’m still learning and it’s wonderfully fun!

Hey. 😊👋 It could be helpful to distinguish what is and isn’t available on Apple Silicon Macs vs Intel Macs. Thanks for the vid. M3 Pro 8gb and I’m hunting to see if it can support adding a second instance for vertical streaming (Aitum). All of this is so fluffin’ new and fun I’m having a blast!

Yes when I switched from x264 encoder to Apple VT H264 Hardware encoder CBR went away as an option and only ABR is available. I am hoping that it will still be good using ABR? Thoughts on why CBR is not an option?

@@bafl99 Mac’s software doesn’t support it unfortunately. I just got a windows pc as the Mac was my gfs and she let me use it before I switched to Windows. It isn’t bad but it is limited either way Abr is fine for the Mac.

Thank you, for some reason my computer doesn't offer Apple VT HEVC Hardware encoder - any ideas why?

Is it an Intel Mac or an M-series(M1, M2, M3)? I think it is only available on M series macs.

M3 pro. I am completely confused why. My wifes m1 has it.

@@simonr2180 huh. That is odd, I have the M3 MBP and it’s what I’ve been using. I hope you find out!

I don't have that video encoder (or encoder settings) as options. Only just "HEVC". I'd assume it's the same, but the only Rate Control option is ABR
