OMG the most accurate and on point obs stream/recording video i've ever seen on youtube. No timewasting, no sponsors, no bs, just pure essential settings. Thank you so much I'll be testing these right away for my streaming channel.
No problem!
Awesome video! Just one little suggestion from my side - consider saving your initial footage as MKV instead of MP4. This can be a lifesaver if OBS crashes (which, let's face it, can happen sometimes), as MKV files can still be recovered. Plus, most editing software can handle MKV files without any problems. Keep up the good work!
Thank you SO VERY much for your video, I was struggling with my default parameters, without really knowing what I should change or what I should NOT change and still having a bad quality. Now my stream is top notch quality, thank you again
You're very welcome!
Great video! It should be noted that base canvas resolution should be what your native resolution is so that the scaled resolution (what the viewers see) will be scaled properly. If your monitor is at 1080p then you're good to go but if you game in 1440p like I do you'll have to set the top value to 2560x1440. Also, it's important to note that if your PC is struggling from the load of encoding a 1080p60fps stream, you could change your scales output to 720p30fps or 60fps and it will look just fine for viewers who mostly use their phones for viewing streams.
Holy cow this was STRAIGHT to the point! ADHD approved!
I've been streaming for a couple of years and this pointed out so many dumb little things that were wrong with my settings lol I make terrible content, but it looks way better now at least ^_^ Thank you for the advice!
no problem!
only thing I'd add is to set color range in advanced settings to full! great vid!
This just like a miracle after struggling with theese stuff , thanks alot man.
No problem!
Great video! I would, however, warn that using CQP as the rate control with your CQ level at 14 could create some MASSIVE files, especially if you're recording entire streams. It's doubly true if you're saving it in .mkv to prevent loss to corruption but having OBS remux it to mp4. to avoid having to convert the files if everything saves properly. This will create TWO files of the same thing in 2 different formats, both of which would be HUGE. Recording a 2 hour stream could lead to 200+ gigs in footage. Personally, I think the 16-18 range would be better from a file size standpoint without any noticeable loss of quality. Going higher than 18 could lead to some quality loss.
Yeah. 14 made 20G files for one 15 recording of Warzone.
@@HeyYoMikey yeah, that's insane bro. I record my full streams which can be 2-4 hours. The first time I did this I started getting warnings that's my disk drive space was low as I was approaching half a terabyte for a single stream, lol.
thanks for letting me know, recorded about 1hr of gameplay at CQ lvl of 17 and its abt 30 gigs
bro thx so much, i never checked the "advanced settings" i got ptocess priority on High, and i got since months heavy problems with frame drops. Thank u so much!!
Glad I could help
I’m trying to learn for my fiancé, he said he wanted to become a RUclipsr/ game streamer. This helps a lot thank you
Thank you, you saved my life
This helps a lot especially since I am new to YT and uploads thanks oMace!
Happy to help!
Thank you for the video. What about the Downscale filter? :)
Drop a like if you drink water
This is how tutorial videos should be made.
thank you so much. my streams and recording ARE good to go now! :D
Glad I could help!
Thanks, Man! Pretty cool video.
Thank you oMace.

Was struggling up untill this vid ty!
no problem!
good quick easy video and straight to the point thanks alot
thanks for the tips man
You bet
thanks dude
finally i dint get lag n the recording was nice...thnks bro
ty
Also, what are you thoughts on CBR for streaming (some platforms prefer or require it because of the consistency) but using VBR or CQP for the recording portion? Would using different types for streaming and recording stress the GPU too much (obviously your specs matter)? And I'm guessing how many instances you're simultaneously running also matters (say you're using restream for you full screen and Aitum for vertical streaming on TikTok). That setup would essentially have 4 instances of rendering (1 CBR for the full screen streaming, 1 CQP for thr full screen recording, 1CBR for vertical streaming, 1CQP for vertical recording or backtrack capturing).
thanks for the help man
No problem!
Nice and simple what a useful human being to society
great!
will all those settings be correct for old weak PC and slow inet?
ty sir! appreciate it much!
Glad to help!
thank you so much, you have no idea. now my videos looking so much cleaner without fps drops. amd recorder is so bad
Glad I could help!
amazing straight forward tutorial, im glad youtube exist bcause of pple like you
What processor would these seeting require to cope. Plus alerts etc
2:30 - Do you use MPEG-4 (.mp4) for your recording format? There is that option and also the Fragmented MP4 (.mp4) option and I'm not sure which to choose. At the moment I've just got the MPEG-4 selected, but is the other one any better?
I've been trying to find this out too. I don't really know, but I will let you know if I find out.
Use mkv instead because it’s recoverable if OBS crashes
Great video keep it up
Thanks, will do!
please do yourself a favor and DO NOT RECORD IN MP4....this is how you end up with corrupted files. record in .mkv then remux it. trust me ive been there with a 30 min recording that was unrecoverable or usable...
Ummm... You do know there is a new mp4 format called fragmented mp4 allows you to save without corrupting but at a cost it will downgrade something in order for that feature to work in the video but i have no clue what exacly downgrades unless you stick with the mpeg mp4 even though it can corrupt it will not downgrade but can cost you the entire video if it corrupts both of them are good
If you have a crashing problem the best way to go is fragmented mp4
If you never have crashes or errors on your computer mpeg mp4 is the best for you
thanks man no filler bs 👍
No problem 👍
Thank you good sir.
Welcome!
very helpful good video
Thank you!
Thanks for making this :)
Of course!
Thanks for the info brother
No problem!

Thank you!
Hello there, thanks for the vid. I’m using a Nvidia RTX 4090 with Intel i913900k CPU and a 1GB Internet speed. Would I change anything from this vid or just copy as is? My streams look fine but when watching on desktop full screen they get a bit blurry it’s really frustrating me. Thanks again 👏
nope! these settings should work just fine!
NEED HELP! I am having an issues with my video encoder in OBS, I don't have see the NVIDIA NVENC option just x264 and h.264. I have a pretty good spec with a rtx 3080 and all updated drivers but still cant get the option. Very confused.
Excellent video, Questionable suggestions. 7/10 More tips less speed plz. This video should be atleast 10 minutes long.
Should i install NIVIDIA NVENC H.264 for streaming my farm RPG game Fae Farm? Thank you
Appreciate the video. Helped a lot!!
Glad it helped!
if I'm playing a gpu intensive game like 7 days and have a good system, wouldn't i wanna use X264 to put more load from my streaming software on the CPU? cause when using nvidia nvenc my 3060 is at 99% but my CPU is literally at 3%. also after following these instructions my video files are X5 as big and wont even load in my editing software.
Thanks for your videos.
I always have Echo. I need your help please
How close is your microphone from your face?
@@omaceyt not close.
I want to do reaction video.
the problem is when I just play the video on RUclips and haven't started speaking . It appears echo ( input and output are all marked?I don't know why.
@@mindsetbyguen having your microphone close to your face and then adding noise suppression will help with the echo.
@@omaceyt thanks it is working
no problem!@@mindsetbyguen
I did this and my whole program is acting crazy now
Isn't selecting the Twitch VOD Track making sure, that the selected audio track is NOT audible in the VOD? I guess you should select another track than the selected one in Audio Track.
thanks this helped, i have a good GPU and i was wondering why my streams were laggy. found out that i was using my cpu to stream all this time without kniowing..
No problem!
same...fml :D@@omaceyt
how do i enable streaming and recording at the same time?
thats all i want to do
Nice video, can you do both at the same time without lagging? I have an streaming PC 10900k 32GB Ram 3090, and for some reason my stream lags when I do both together, even If I have a second gaming PC
I have the same issue and I have RTX3080, 5800x and 32GB ram
it helps !
TNX
if im using i3 12100F, RTX 3060, 16Gb RAM , internet download speed 500Mbps, upload speed 100Mbps, can i use this setting ? for quality stream and no lag on my game?
Yes you should have no problem 😌
@@omaceyt ohh nice i will try it out.. worried if my game will lag because my cpu is quite weak to play cpu intensive games while streaming eg. Valorant
What about if you want to stream in real time with no delay?
These are for real time. There’s a slight delay but that’s normal (around 2 seconds at most)
Nice video buddy, thumbs up 👍 However, you can't tell everyone that this is the optimal streaming and recording settings for OBS in 2023.
Not everyone are privileged with high speed internet. Some people in your community can't use the settings that you provided.
First in order to get your quality in streaming, you need to have a 25mbps or 50mbps upload speed to use 6000kbps Bitrate
For your quality recording, you need to have a High End PC to really use 15 for QCP. If you have a potatoe PC or Mid range PC, you recording quality won't look so crisp and vivid. What I would recommend for those on entry level or mid range pcs, is to use 17 - 20 on QCP. That will still look great. Speaking from my own experience.
Yes, I like the video as it was very informative but bro, not everyone in the world are privileged with high end PCs.
Just mho.
I'm having trouble I have a 3840x2160 monitor only 30hz and i think its messing my streaming up. I have a 3060 oc with 32 gbs of ram and a decent cpu. I cant seem to stream without it being choppy as all heck. Base Canvas rez is set to my monitor specs because when i turn it to 1920x1080 it shrinks and makes my game not fit on stream and looks weird. any ideas? I am running two monitors my left is the 3840x2160 and my right is a 1920x1080 60 hz. SHould I just Stream my games from my 1920 monitor instead of my 4k one?
Oh weird maybe I lied I just recorded it when the preview showed it was choppy and it actually wasnt. why would my obs show its choppy when in fact it wasnt. weird.. any idea?
I did all of this but the video is still EXTREAMLY choppy, I mean , it legit looks like a slideshow. I have a gtx 1650 so idk why it's this bad+ I did everything that I should've too.
What’s your background processes and what are you trying to record?
@oMace just sum tf2 but even on desktop it stutters SOOOO bad. Idk why
@@redmoose5553 probably because the game fps is above the recording fps
cuz valve games have really high framerates

THANK YOU
Sadly video -2 month old, and OBS settings are "updated" and does not match what is shown in the video. ( 01:45 )
And when you do a video going over all the settings, its better to take the take and explain what each setting does.
example "Max B-frames" "Ill set it to 2", no explination on what it does or why...
If you update and make a new updated video, please take the time and explain each setting and why you have the settings you recomend or the video will be utterly useless and only "My settings". Instead make a video explaining your settings and what things do so other people who dont have your hardware can actually do other settings and learn how things are and why.
With Max B Frames there is a question mark the explain it.
what if im using a AMD rx 6600 how do i set that up since i dont have a nvidia card?
You should see Amd then h.264 I'm not 100% the name but it will say Amd in front.
Can this setup stream games?
everything past preset is non existent in the current version im working with. what version of OBS were ya using when you recorded this video?
It sounds to me like you might need to switch it from Simple to Advanced.
That's at the very top of Output "Output Mode"
why don't I have P1-P7 as an option for presets or a Multi Pass setting?
What gpu are you using?
TQP?
why not h.265 for recording?
Because h.264 is still standard across streaming and uploading platforms
Hello so i want to leave my canvases in 4k and output in 4k for people watching in 4k. Will these settings still work as long as I keep the 4k in 60fps
Don't you have too big fps drops with such low CQP lvl?
Nope! They’re stable and have no issues!
I just tried your settings for my stream and it was terrible, I'm sorry to say.
CQ lever 14? wtf 1min is fucking 250mb
🤘 'promo sm'
MP4 yuck
Huh?
I think mkv is good just use remux option
