Looking good! Can’t wait to see the Alaskan adventures! 🤙🏽
Jocelyn: We don’t plan on going anywhere where it’s freezing cold temperatures.
Taku: Our first trip is to Alaska. LoL
Btw, you might want to think about protecting your gray water tank with a metal plate on the bottom as there can be lots of rocks on the roads in Alaska.
Summer in Alaska is great weather
Summer in Alaska is mild. But they're gonna need bug nets on all the doors and windows, or the mosquitos are gonna eat them up alive.
What will you use for internet while traveling?
i think there are some concerns that there is a lack of skid plates protecting your plastic parts in the underbelly of the van
I wished my lady was like her and want a more adventurous lifestyle.
Watch the metal strap on the water hose it will rub a hole in it so quickly. I would switch it to rubber.
P trap is backwards. Look at the ones in your house. The shower will have the tendency to back up and not drain correctly... Does the water tank have a vent? You will have major issues if you don't have a vent!
It's not backwards, it's the angle of the camera, you can see it in the next shot.
@@TaklyntheWorld Sorry Taka, P Trap is definitely backwards, tall side is should be under the drain, you have it reversed. Booger is right about the tank as well, definitely needs to be vented or the vacuum cause difficulty filling/draining. Good luck safe travels!

@@TaklyntheWorld I have been doing this kind of work for almost 50 years and I am not trying to be ugly but you do not knowing what you are doing. Sorry... I am not an armchair advisor...
so that's where all the pee goes
You guys have done an amazing job especially since you have no prior experience. You got the carpentry, electrical, AND plumbing spot on. That is fantastic. I am so excited for you two and really looking forward to your Alaska videos! All the best to you guys!
If your passing Washington it would be cool if you could meet up with Addicted Fishing and/or NWFS. Would be a recipe for a dope collab vid
They've done the NWFS colab already! check out their site!!
When passing BC do a collab with "Fishing with Rod" and "Kitty Kanhoffen" for some awesome fishing and informative videos.
Almost finished! Impressive and professional-looking build. Can't wait for the maiden voyage and adventures to follow.
You sure you didn't hit your head earlier the toilet is in a whole ass cabinet lmao and they got to shower right next to the shitter lol whatever do what you want its your van love you taku
That gray water valve might get taken out by road debris or a rock. Might consider some skidplates under the van. I doubt yer gonna stick to paved roads all the time. Certainly not gonna be an off-roader, but I'm sure you'll be down more than one sketchy dirt road in your travels.
Don't get too bent about not being an expert cabinet maker....yer not. It still looks good and is functional. THAT is what matters.
That build is amazing! Can't wait to get some shop space so I can build my Overlander!
liar you don't need to bullshit he is a perfectionist its gonna bother him lol
Coming up to Alaska? Awesome! Just check your route first. As far as I know, Canada is still locked down, not permitting travel through. Unless you plan on taking the ferry from Seattle. Who knows, maybe we'll run into each other.
They can always drive up there via the southern border, it is wide-open and under staffed!🤣
Be careful with all those sheet metal screws, they will loosen in automotive applications. You would be better served with the nut riveter and small bolts. Id hate to see you having the same issues I have had...
You guys have kicked ass on this van build.. I'm loving every detail. Learn as you go.. Thank you for these videos *#OutdoorVanLife* 🚐
Yooooo that water tank install is CLEAN!! Good work
I just thinks it’s amazing that you guys built this van on your own, hats off to the both of you. Since you’ll be traveling and cooking, do you technically have a food truck? Imagine if Outdoor Chef Life did a pop up 🔥 🔥 🔥
Amazing work. so looking forward to Outdoor Chef life live from Alaska!!!
Years ago I said at 500k when you first started.... you better record it
In the winter goto Mexico and collab with the chef Rick (Martinez? Sp?) on food52.... formerly bon Appétit...... force him to write a cookbook, you should too..... about fishing and cooking on the coast, 1/4 sushi..... include links to yt vids on fileting the fish in the book..... boo boo BOO... I'm not wrong, have I been yet.
I just found your channel, YT kicked it to me and I'm pissed that they waited so long !!! I viewed some of the comments and many thoughts are same as mine ! A thin poly tank held up with plumbers strap with no cushion between the tank and strap won't hack it ! My Suburban has thick black poly 40 gallon tank and it has molded in structural bracing and two heavy gauge straps w/ felt ? Then a heavy skid plate covering the bottom and part of the sides and sumps to center with a big drain hole ! Crawl under a few trucks and figure out what's best for you ?.... OK It's 4:00 AM in STL MO and I have to binge watch your damn videos 🤔 PS : I know pocket screws are easy but bad glue joint ! End to face grain, not good, go with hidden dovetail jig or a homemade box joint jig made out of scrap's ✌️💜🎸
uhm.....it's freezing in Alaska and the Cascade mountain passes, also your water drop will make a nice mud pit in front of your driver door., ...insulating your water tank will not only keep it from freezing but protect it from road debris. Happy Trails! You should have your very own travel channel soon....best to produce your own though.....js Food Fun, and Adventure!
@Taklyn looks pretty professional to me!!! Your guys’ van looks dope AF!!!🤙🏽
Tip: Placing shims (folded paper/cardboard)between cabinet/drawer faces and hinge/opener hardware will help align them on the face. Love the content as always. Excited for you!
Construction adhesive and 80/20?!? Why didn't you just use the slots in the 80/20?
Liking the blue teal paint color too. 👍🏼 My favorite color
Taku, those European hinges are adjustable in I believe 4 to 6 directions...check out the instructions as I believe you can adjust them to eliminate that uneven line of the three overhead cabinet doors. Things are looking up on your project. Lots of technology going into this van !
Taku, we know you're busy, but we also would love to know you read your comments. Lots of fans trying to help you. Maybe a reply to a few comments?
First off, I love you guys and your channel, great vids and cooking tips. I live in B.C. Canada have spent much of my 61 years out in the woods hunting and fishing so I have been on many bad gravel and dirt roads so please believe me, You need a skid plate of some kind to protect your grey water tank and fittings from bottoming out and rock damage, as the tires are in line with it and tend to kick up rocks and your gate valve is exposed. PS. you might also want to put some rubber padding between the metal strapping and the tank to avoid tank damage, any way have a great time and safe trip .
I hope you cover the water tank pipes! If you hit some kind of road rubbish it will fly everywhere under the van. Also in the rain where many rubbish washes on the roads. Very nice job on 1st-time installation on a van.
Ahhh, you might want to redo the water tank mounting, you would be better off with stainless steel straps with rubber in between the strap and tank to keep from wearing thru, and thrift bolt the straps with stainless bolts , if I remember water weights 9.2 lbs per gal so its going to be sloshing around a lot, can’t wait for the Alaska videos, this is going to be Epic ! 👍🏼.
you know it would be sick af if you guys bought a Starlink setup for the van so you guys can get that super fast high speed, elon musk internet speeds out in remote areas XD Might be something for you guys to look into and set it up on the roof :) Those little Starlink satellites 100% go over Alaska
Hi Taku and Jocelyn we love your videos and I hope we see you both here in Anchorage Alaska.😊
Are you concerned about the plastic parts underneath the can getting damaged by road debris, etc. Just picturing you going down a gravel road and a sharp rock puncturing the gray water tank or cutting the hose.
Props to you guys doing this. Pretty big and involved build!
What about the toilet and shower situation? Great job so far!
putting the drain valve where the knob is exposed under the van is risky. Driving along, you could kick up a rock that may either open the drain, or worse break off the handle. You need to enclose the valve in a protective enclosure.
Also consider the same scenario for the plastic tank. If you kick up a sharp object it can slam into the plastic tank and potentially make a crack or hole in the tank wall.
The drive to Alaska is awesome. Going thru Canada is great. But its gunna be a long long drive. Take alot of breaks and enjoy the scenery on the road trip
I’d be cool if you linked up with simple living Alaska while you’re up there.
no, since theyre not white
Wait.. but where was the shower pan? Did I miss it? Also where is the toilet? You showed it in a previous video before installation.
Was there a reason why you didn't screw in the wood panels to the 80/20 but used the permanent glue?
Whaaaaat I didnt know you guys have a channel together? Subbing right now
Alaska bound! Tell Sitka Bernie Burns said hi. They know me at the pioneer bar
are you guys considering fish storage if you catch more than expected?
🔥🔥🔥 upload guys 👊🏼😎🤙🏼, BRING ON ALASKA !!!!
Neat that you are building ur own camper. But why not buy a used camper and remodel that?
you might want to put some kind of rubber strap around the tank where you have it secured, that way it shouldn't rub a hole in the tank.
The P trap should be in the vertical position as its designed to stop gasses from flowing back into the inside, say of a house or toilet, probably no need for it to be honest.
looks great! lots of details!! of course you might be planning to bring your gas stove as a backup or for frying / cooking outside.
If you haven't already a safe could be a good idea for piece of mind
Hey are you sure that they'll let you drive through Canada given Covid or are you going to put your van on a boat
Can we get a final weigh in on the van after the build is complete?
i would nut and bolt the water tank those pan head screws wont hold very long
Truly remarkable how you’ve managed to convert the van and I assume with no prior experience. I’m wondering how many $ you estimate you saved by doing this yourselves?
We haven't done the math but we've seen vans like this anywhere from 150k-200k!
Can’t wait to see you catch some salmon in Alaska chef!
Did you install any solar panel on the roof?
Why does this man remind me of a Korean rapper.
you guys doing like “kara and nate”?
Before you leave you should do a meet up??
Road trip to Cabo San Lucas one day
9:55 we know what that rope is really for
Why not cooking with propane?
Wow , you guy done amazing job .
dead line? yall went corporate lol?
winter comes fast in Alaska
should have just got a small rv lol
Cool... Congratulations to the both of you. 😁👍🏻👌🏼 Waiting anxiously to watch you use it on your catch and cook adventures.
When passing BC please do a collab with "Fishing with Rod" and "Kitty Kanhoffen" for some awesome fishing and informative videos.
Taku is clearly a perfectionist so I’m sure this build was hard. Unfortunately if your a self builder you have to let some things go. Still you’ve done an awesome job guys 👍🏻
Looking great. Good job🙂
Love the shoe storage! 😻😻😻 love the push-to-open doors and use of all available space! Been looking at pre-made rv/van conversions and there’s so much wasted space…and they’re super pricey! Glad all your hard work is paying off and I hope you enjoy your future trips!
Paint the pegboard centers of the upper cabinets to match the other turquoise/ blue stuff. Looking good guys
Hope this channel starts getting more subscribers like your other channel. You may want to add links to both, so more people are aware that you have two channels. Keep producing fun and interesting content to share with us. We all look forward to your journeys in the van.
Excellent job on the build guys!
Quick tip on the grey water tank… put some anti chafing material under the straps to prevent weak spots or holes being worn in it via vibration!
Have you guys done any research on Alaskan weather in summer and early fall? Lol. You’re going to catch rain like you’ve never seen.
Where’d he get the Off White bed set? I already looked at IKEA and HYPKEA?!
For the cooking space, wouldnt getting 5K LED bulb better since its mostly for shooting purposes? A lot of your videos are processes of foraging for food which often take up most of the day that by the time you guys start the cooking and eating, most the daylight is gone and its often hard to see. I recommend changing the two bulbs to 5k led and add external bulb that can be extend outside the van so when you guys decide to set up a dining room by the van, there enough lights to see everything. Lighting seems to be you guys weak point since to often hard to see the cooking and eating process. Just a thought.
Jocelyn recall that beer space lol love ya'll guys please keep up the good work can't wait for the video with y'all on the road in the van I just finally got my own van I am tickled to death to get on the road got a lot of work ahead of me too I can tell by the work that y'all did but I'm excited hopefully I can make it to Alaska I'm all the way down in Jacksonville Florida a long long way away
Yo the van build is coming along great!! Taku seemed a little disappointed at the end his shelf covers weren't perfect, but in the end it's something YOU made and will always be special to you guys!! Can't wait to see what the completed van looks like, peace and love from WA
Jocelyn you're very pretty
yes, stop by at NWFS!
You can always make your screw holes a little bigger that way you can move it left or right or up and down and then tighten it and place and they'll stay just a little tricked out learn doing cabinet work
If you come to BC you should reach out to Fishing with Rod who is a super great activist for our fishery here!
Fantastic build and you two have done a really great job. The only suggestion I might make is to put strips of rubber between the plumbers tape and the gray water tank, at least at the corners. I believe your going to get quite a bit of chaffing on the plastic, especially on rough roads. {plumbers tape is the strapping w/holes} love both channels.
Thank's Dave
Wonderful video! I hope you two have a wonderful time going to and in Alaska and coming home.
Awesome. Thanks for the update. Must be tiring but it’s all worth it once you’re on the road enjoying yourselves.
Looks good love the work you have put into it. Just remember its an RV it will never be finished you will always find ways to tweak it!😜👍👍
TAKU KEES EYEING THAT OVERHEAD CABINET FACE… FIX IT MY BOY. I SEE IT TOO 😬❤️😂
Great job guys!
Great build Jocelyn and Taku! Looking forward to watching your videos in the future. If you stop by Juneau Alaska, half the city is name Taku FYI. They have a river, harbor, shops (Harley Davison) named after Taku.
Doesn't the p-trap have to be mounted vertically and not horizontal so some water stays in the elbow to seal it off from the tank?
It is. I think the angle of the video might have led you to think it's horizontal. If you watch from 2:42, you'll see it is mounted vertical.
Ah yes! I see it now.
Cannot wait to see your first adventure to beautifull Alaska 🐟
Everything looked great!! Did you guys end up fixing the whistling sound coming from the fans when you drive? Just curious what you did.
Amazing team work you two it’s coming together slowly and soon you will be off on your grand adventures best of luck with all you do and thank you for sharing you both are way cool peace✌️
LOOKS GREAT 👍!!!
great job on the build, alaska trip will be super. install good locks and security, you dont want all this hard work to go to waste.
This is looking good, I'm gonna go watch your build from the start,
Im a low voltage tech, everyonce and a while the 24v on the 12v system gets everybody. Very funny everytime and a nice head slap haha
What is the metal T slot bar you are using called for everything?
Alaska is great, maybe consider a guide for big northern pike
Great work. I just bought a blow up bed for my truck, that’s the best I can do.
omg Alaska series
Yes finally 🙌 😆
Excellent job!
