This is honestly so helpful! I love all the info about different things to put them in, reusable options and things to consider when not around bugs and in high wind.
Love the gardening series! I just got a new place with a balcony and getting into growing edible plants, and I honestly learned so much from this. This is seriously very helpful. More, please!
All I can say is Wow 😳 . You’re both very skilled and very good at what you do. This episode was very informative and made me less stressed about starting my own garden. With all the information you provided I feel like I will be the MacGyver of my garden.Thank you for all the great ideas.
Really like your (for me) new channel. I’m moving to Japan later this year and having had a house in US not so familiar with urban container gardening. Keep it up. Very helpful. Maybe see you guys in Japan some day. Be safe.
Jocelyn, so proud of you! Your garden looks great and you have such variety! I too have been growing on my patio since December. Ive had excellent luck with greens (kale, lettuce, bok choy, spinach). My cucumbers did great! I was giving them away. Cherry tomatoes are very easy. I am having trouble recently with pests, such as the squash bug. Those little critters can tear through all of your fruit in one night! Now im trying to grow somethings inside with a growlight.
Jocelyn, you are a bad ass! No one would think you ride motorcycles after watching this video lol. I’ve been following you and Taku for over a year now so I think that’s how I knew you both ride 🏍 . I find it interesting how I can just keep re-watching Outdoor Chef Life videos repeatedly throughout the year and then next thing I know I’m experimenting in the kitchen. Therefore, I look forward to rewatching this video for ideas on how to be more mindful of the environment; paying attention to sustainability. Also, where did Taku get that birthday present? I think it was like a place where you could put your plants which was made out of wood. Thanks for sharing. Oh and please make more videos like this please. Good stuff on the worm farm.
Awesome garden! I also have a small space but grow a bunch of veggies in it. You should check out flower towers! I have bush beans stacked 6 feet tall and they're going crazy
Good use of available space. You might want to incorporate a drip system later on for when things ease up and you two are out and about more often. I like the tip reusing the wine shipping container.
I’ve never really heard of eggshell water being used to alter pH levels in soil. I know my mom uses ground eggshells for her orchids, but eggshell water? Very informative video. I might take up gardening now that I’m back in the Bay lol
Great video! Can I ask if your garden is East or West of Twin Peaks? Although I’m in SoMa/Potrero, my SW-facing 2nd floor patio only gets afternoon sun and I have trouble growing things like chillies, tomatoes, cucumbers (lots of aphids and whiteflies here), but plants like Chinese celery, mint, bok choi, and rosemary grow like crazy.
Mahalo for sharing your gardening ideas! Love yours and Taku's videos! I'm reviving my garden during this "Stay At Home Order ". I like your idea on the cardboard boxes, pots can get expensive. Did you reinforce the bottom, if so how?
I think checking your soil PH is pretty important. If that's off, your plants aren't going to be happy. And also looking into how much water your plants need. Not all plants want a lot of water and some plants like dry soil between waterings.
Thanks! My carrot seed pack says they're ready in 75-80 days. I planted them about 2 months ago so I'm guessing another 2ish weeks if I'm lucky, not quite as soon as I said in the video but definitely before fall. :D
@@TaklyntheWorld im curious to see. Plz do a video. For yrs my carrots have taken way longer than it says. However, im in northern Idaho. The beauty of carrots though, is u can leave them in the ground till u need them. Even over winter. So if they are on the small side, and you would like larger ones, just leave them. I cant wait to see!!!!!!!!
@@TaklyntheWorld i know the soil is great. I maybe guilty of not thinning enough some. But the weather is very different. I plant end of may, and its fall b4 they get a decent size
Lol, this it OCL's side channel. :) Originally we wanted to put our extra travel/adventure content but thanks to covid, we aren't traveling anywhere. :(
Awesome of you to reply. I love your vids on the other channel. I guess since I've been gardening a ton lately this came up. Can't wait to binge this channel.
I love the fact that Taku caught most natural food “fishes” and Joselyn grow greens, it’s a win, win for them and the globe. Love you guys. ❤️
WOW! Why didn't I think of that! Pollinating using a paint brush. We have a lack of bees where I live.

Awesome garden Jocelyn !! cant wait to see more of the garden progress. Thanks for sharing your ideas 💗
Really loving the gardening and up-cycling you two are doing!! Reminds me to give my balcony garden a little love too! haha Love your work!

Nice start to your gardening season. Soil to table later.

Thank you! Definitely want to try planting some bok choy when I find seeds/plants.
I wish the weather in the UK was like yours in SoCal!
Thank you for the tip about the paint brush!
you can reduce your pot spacing by getting a 55 gallon water drum and cut pockets around it for flowers, herbs, and over veggies.
Super cool 😎👍👍👍👍🤜
I've managed to create a couple large raised bed planters as well as an elevated 4x6 green house in my West Oakland backyard. Keep up the good work!

Perfect timing! Just starting getting into gardening and propagating plants recently. Great video as always!
Good luck with your garden! I'm experimenting with propagating right now too. :)
This is awesome!!! Thank you!!
Going all in, love it! Was a huge fan of the square foot gardening method when I had a little raised bed.

Nice .that flower in spanish is simpasuchil..n we use that for dia delos muertos on the altar .smells good n loos good to ..the garden looks good. 👍👍
In English, it's called Marigold. They are beautiful. Come in many colors and the flowers are edible.
Dint know the they where eddible
I’m saving my amazon boxes for future use!

That's exactly what I was thinking about researching for once we start going on trips! Thanks!
nice to have your own video. keep it up!
Composter would help to amend pot soil. Egg shells, coffee grounds, newspaper torn into pieces, anything that decompose with microbial action.
Longest I heard Joe talk :)
I would recommend that you attempt Hydro gardening and with that you could do a Koi farm. Food for thought per se.
LOVE U JOZLYN!!!!
Nice...!!!!

Do Carolina Reapers and a video showing you guys eating it or cooking it.
2 outta 3! :p I have that 3 in 1 meter and the ph also stopped working.
More of Jocelyn gardening?? It’s been 1 year 👀

I put another layer of tape where the flaps seal the bottom, similar to how I did the edges. It's held up pretty well the last 2 months.
Mahalo, I'll give that a try. I'm heading to Home Depot to get some soil and some starter veggies.
80 is warm XD it was triple digits in sacramento today....next few days are going to be triple digits also
Hah we're way too spoiled with this bay area weather. Anything over 75 has the entire city complaining lol
