  • The OnePlus 8T is better specced in almost every way than the OnePlus 8 it succeeds from earlier this year. It’s got quicker 65W fast charging, a higher 120Hz refresh rate display, a bigger 4,500mAh battery, and an extra camera.

Been fast charging my Oneplus 6 for 2.5 years. I haven't noticed any battery degradation (not any more than I would normally get with any device). It's far more important that you don't constantly charge the battery full. 40%-80% is quite optimal range, with fast charging it's quite easy to top up the phone quickly to keep it at those levels.
I actually ended up degrading the battery on my old Sony Xperia device once, because it came with a convenient charging cradle and I kept it at 100% charge very often. After just 2 years the battery life had become absolutely terrible.

Do what I do...give them 5-6 month, OnePlus always starts dropping the prices and offering deals. Then, you end up getting this thing for about 60% of the cost new and the technology of any other phone isn't better. Never been a bandwagoner personally. But I switched to an XS Max with the last jailbreak for IOS, and I really have learned to hate Apple once again quickly and their terrible ecosystem and poor apps compared to their Android versions...plus, simple things like organizing icons, or customization the launcher etc..widgets blah blah...I will take a slightly less camera, which I don't care about, and a much faster charger and better display over any iPhone. At half the price in a few months. Great news, my XS Max will still be absurdly valuable for some unknown reason an probably almost pay for the new OP8T!

I do not care about IP rating even if it was included. Another tech influencer complaining about a phone that can charge up to full in 40 minutes not having wireless charging...
As for the monochrome sensor, it's there to help you take better night time videos and pictures. I think that's a pretty handy addition to the camera module and I hope Oneplus keeps it in future.

Wait, how is the point of super-fast charging for nightly charging? Surely the whole point is charging during the day, when out and about, on those days when you kill the phone before the end. A quick burst on a train for example - or in a cafe?

Verge is one of the valuable youtube channels to get technology review. Well they are playing number games since t series n pro model launch ups. Please do say clearly it is useless too spend this many dollars for such a cheap product. I mean they are increasing price of the phone like that actually costs them so much but they are playing with numbers for grabbing higher price for the real first model pricing. Please let lights be on the reason for so many phones from oneplus. Take them down to see their real filthy number games

65w not worth it, just 20min less compare to 30w and not much different for 90hz screen compare to 120hz, i would rather cut down some cost to get oneplus nord or pay extra for oneplus 8 pro

When people say the jump to 120hz isn't as noticeable as the jump to 90hz it just shows how disconnected the reviewers are. A small percentage of people have a 90hz phone. A bigger percent just got 120hz with the Galaxy phones and now this phone. Us in the tech world play with new gadgets all the time but that doesn't represent the real world. When ever I talk about high refresh rate people who are into tech dont know what I'm talking about or don't know the difference and have it turned off just like how they keep it at 1080p instead of 1440p.

please do not charge your phone over night. it will hurt your battery.
i charge my phone every morning with only 20 W charging and its totally finde. 3,5 years later with the phone and I dont have any battery issues unlike other people who charge their phones over night. those people tend to have battery problem 1 year after purchase. so stop charging over night if you dont have some battery modes which will prevent the phone to stay at 100% for 6 hours straight

I have Dash charging on my OnePlus 5. I never charge it overnight now, absolutely no need to do so. And this new warp charger, will be no different. One of my favourite things about OnePlus phones.

    • @PhazonBlaxor

Me too, I have OP6 with the same 20 watt charger and I never charge overnight. OP8T charger outputs over 3x the wattage. I still think OP6 charges fast, but this is on a whole another level. I preordered the 256GB variant today.
I'm still thinking if I should cancel the order and wait for OP9 instead though, knowing that the new 5nm SD875 is here soon.

@@chenlevy3773 Yeah I arrived at the same conclusion and canceled the preorder. Not in any hurry to upgrade so I'll wait. The OP9 is probably finally getting a new camera sensor as well. 8T is still using the same one as OP7.

I could actually tell the difference between the Monochrome sensor picture and the Monochrome filter. The one using the monochrome sensor is ever so slightly more dramatic with a better dynamic range, the blacks more accentuated (check the columns of the bed), and the color temperature is warmer. I don't know if this is something a filter can do, but I just like it more and I appreciate the presence of that sensor.
I had a Huawei P10 previously, which had a monochrome sensor, and I recall a very large percentage of the photos I took with this phone was with the monochrome sensor. I loved it!

For the price, that’s a lot of phone for your money. Especially compared to iPhones. Not sure it’s enough to make me switch from an iPhone though. Is the new iPhone 12 (non pro) worth the premium over this phone ? I thinks its about £849 for 128GB. Or £799 for 64GB.

I'm tempted with this one. Still running OnePlus 5 so it will be a massive step up for me. I'm hoping to see some reviews of this against the 8 Pro as Amazon prime day is offering it for £649. Is the extra £100 worth it? Mostly use for videos and the OnePlus 5 is still holding up well on that front
