S20 Plus, the OP8 Pro is just too big and regular OP8 has no wireless charging. Also Samsung has recently been really great at providing monthly security updates to their flagship phones.

I used my friend's S20 ultra n the 120Hz refresh rate is mind blowing. The scrolling is totally on another level. This phone has everything u want. Sound really good.
I don't think that 120 Hz is such a great thing. I have the alienware ultrawide Display (with 120 Hz) plus a nasa computer 😂 I don't see such a great difference. Maybe I'm just that used playing in 120, but I don't feel strange while scrolling through these comments.
The thing I like about the Verge is their reviewers are smart, articulate, mature people who really know what they are talking about (particularly this guy). Videos are always subtle and professional. So many tech reviewers have terrible English, lack basic communication skills and rely on sounding/looking cool (or at least trying to).
Ezra Pardede My last Oneplus phone had its display pop-out, dust deposit beneath the earpiece grill, the speaker quality degraded, and the camera developed an autofocus issue where the service centre said that the camera needed replacement. I still think Oneplus needs to fix their QA, before they hit the likes of Samsung and Apple. O+ already does better than Samsung on the software front, but Apple (with an excellent AppStore, bleeding edge SOC, and 5-year OS updates) is way way way far. - An android user writing from an iPad.
OnePlus uses Snapdragon on all its phones, while Samsung uses Exynos in almost every country but a bunch. That fact on its own makes OnePlus the way better phone imo, not to mention the fact that it has a better screen and a MUCH BETTER processor at a much cheaper price.
All the flagships mostly have the same features with minor differences and they all have flagship prices. I think it really depends on which brands you like vs the ones you don't like.

We can look at all the reviews in the world but it simply comes down to preference. If OnePlus is offering more premium phones then we can't expect them to be dirt cheap. As someone else stated these phones offer similar specs with minor differences. For me it just comes down to what you're willing to pay.
If they do that now, they don't have anything to do with the T version of this phone. Lol. The 8t pro will probably have a lesser curved screen, bigger battery and faster charging.
This seems great. I have the 7pro, and it's a great phone. I've had some issues with having to restart my phone to get 4G coverage back. Also, I've given up hoping that producers of i.e gimbals will ever make their products work 100% on these brands, I just don't think they care about others than apple and Samsung.
Can you talk about the microphone quality? Is there a difference between the pro and regular? Is it improved from the 7t? How does it compare to iPhone? Can you adjust the audio recording settings (gain, noise cancellation)? How would it deal with recording musical instruments? Thanks and hope you can answer, nobody focuses on this aspect of smartphones...

There’s only one reason that makes me go for the S20+ over the OnePlus 8 pro. As a zwift and Garmin user, the OnePlus doesn’t have Ant+ connectivity. Not a big deal for most people, but Ant+ is just a more robust protocol when connecting to multiple sensors like speed, cadence, power meters, heart rate transmitters and so on. Would love to see ant+ in more devices.
Its laughable how they marketed the one plus 8 as a no compromise compact phone, while the s20 is smaller, has better specs in every way and is actually cheaper than the op8 now. The only reason to choose the op8 is if you prefer stock android or if you live in an exynos region.
Agree I love Samsung phone and I always gotta make compromise on the software look and feel I gotta download luncher or themes to make it feel more android stock and I don't like it 😕

It has been the most reliable Android phone out there software & hardware considered... Delight to Dollar ratio basically. This year they have taken their hardware game a notch higher. If the reviews are true the camera game is also a big improvement. So yes you're paying more to get the best version of OnePlus devices yet. The unfortunate part is however, the processors are pretty expensive this time around with Qualcomm making 5G modem a default component of the Chipset.. 5G is pretty useless but that's what has kinda hiked the prices. Knowing OnePlus they surely trying to test market waters as to how people accept their brand remodelling especially with wider service provider support in US. And it's still a pretty damn good phone for a price lesser than the competition.
I think you forgot to mention that fast Wireless Charging 30Watt works only with their wireless changer.Any other regular Qi wireless charger will do only 5 watt.

5G is more future proofing than anything 12 GB ram is more future proofing than anything Is too expensive for what it is IMO. 7 Pro or 7T are better buys, features vs price IMO. Even base 8 is better than 7T Pro MacLarenn given newer chip.

Finally a fully never settle phone. More or less. It’s finally a true flagship. The colour filter lens is weird. Dim light probably could use deep fusion. Headphone jack, consumer hostile, for some. Also 2020, 1080p is fine again, finally. What about zen mode?
Might just be me, I am still rocking my 5T, never cared about the camera. Like yeah, it is okay, and night mode on the 5T is pretty sad; but I don't take lots of photos. I love its performance, constant updates, and the near stock experience Oxygen provides. Like OnePlus is always a solid buy. My next phone might be an iPhone, depending on what Apple shows, just because I've never been in that ecosystem and I kinda want to give it a shot.

They could've made it thicker, flattened the screen curves + camera bump .. and dumped in a 5000mA battery for the same price.
