This is why I can't stand coaches/players who get mad at their opponents for "running up the score" against them. You never know what's going to happen and if you take your foot off the gas you could lose like UTSA did here.
The program has been down for several years losing record. There was about 15 to 20K fans at season opener with new coach and players but playing badly with no wins hurt attendance. I was at game but left at half time seeing no hope for a competitive game. MY LOSS for leaving early as most fans did.
Tulsa is the only college football team in the state of Oklahoma that has won a game in the entire month of October. In fact, this is the ONLY win for any Oklahoma college football team since OU beat Auburn on September 28th. Also, Oklahoma State hasn't won a game since, ironically, beating Tulsa on September 14th. Tulsa's last win before this was an OT win over LA Tech on September 21st.
I live a block away from the stadium. Everybody was leaving at halftime but I didn't think to check the score until the noise just kept getting louder and louder
I guess that two point conversion by UTSA offended Tulsa? It seems like that is where the switch happened. Tulsa suddenly looked like an NFL team against a JUCO. Brutal finish by 1 point. Penalties compounded the problem in the secondary, so did poor coverage... but... Tulsa's QB went full gunslinger. The dude was dropping dimes and just airing balls like Farve. Defense went into a different gear for Tulsa as well. They kept pushing. Their conditioning was way better than UTSA's to close the game out. That battle was purely early strength (USTA) versus outstanding technique & conditioning in the 2nd half (Tulsa). Tulsa's defense had more in the tank, also were able to make better reads. UTSA's defense was stronger early, were eventually worn out. Only forced a few scrambles in the 2nd half. That secondary got shelled. For Tulsa to be that resilient, especially considering their record this season, they must have also gotten pissed off. Something triggered the switch.
I was here for most of the game but unfortunately my brother wanted to leave before we could come back. Still it was pretty cool to come home, turn on the TV and see that we're about to win.😅
I went to UTSA. My beautiful up and coming university has done absolutely nothing this year. That’s what happens when your head coach spends more time looking for jobs in the off season than building the program. Whatever, all of us defacto root for UT anyway. Still annoying
This keeps you watching the games longer, in college or the NFL. I just watched an NFL game highlight that was 42-21 with about 2 minutes in the game and it ended up going to OT.
@@douglasiles2024 right?! I'm a okie myself and a poke fan. It's been tough this year. OU has earned their whipping. Rolling into the sec is going to be tough for a few years.
@MemestiffGaming: They could Schedule The University of South Dakota if they really want to know. USD of Vermillion SD are known as The Coyotes!!😂😉🐶🐺🏈B.W.
I think Tulsa was genuinely pissed off after the 2 point conversion, plus their conditioning eventually overcame the size/strength battle they lost in the first half. Some teams are built for the long haul, and also just play harder late.
Man what is going on at UTSA? Jeff Traylor was a red hot college candidate for power conference teams such as Houston and Texas Tech not too long ago. Seems like they regressed. I get they moved from CUSA to the AAC in 2023.
I’m not a fan of either team, but that’s gonna be heartbreaking for the away team. They had the game almost out of reach when it was 35 to 7 but just like almost any other football game it always comes down to the wire
whats going on in that strip sack for tulsa? Why the UTSA line drop down like they were going to go block a screen? but the quarterback is dropping back and going through reads like he expects to have a pocket?
You have to remember conferences these days do not care about how successful the team is or geographical consistency. They only care about the money aspect, TV revenue, and the recruiting grounds.
Well it's a win win, bc UTSA is glad they are in the American and not the MWC. I can give you about four million reasons why, along with the AAC being better
Unrelated Incredible Story about How No Lead is Safe: In 2017, Mount Union was playing Oshkosh to get to the D3 championship. Despite being dominant all year, Mount got down to 35-10 with 20 minutes left. There was even a point where Mount botched a PAT and Oshkosh got the 2 pts for running it back 98 yards. Mount somehow won 43-40 and went on to win the championship a week later. In football, especially college, No. Lead. Is. Ever. Safe.

Agree to some extent, but if a team leading by several touchdowns throws for the end zone in the last minute, that’s running it up.
Even then this is COLLEGE football not high school. It's perfectly okay to up the score so much

I think the 2 point conversion angered them... they took that as an insult
You know what's crazy? This isn't even Tulsa's largest comeback. In 2016 they came back from a 31 point deficit to beat Fresno State in 2OT 48-41.
Cheerleaders were jumping for joy and genuinely excited when tu cut the lead to 18. That's heart, i love it
it was 42-17 with 20 minutes left in the game
It was 46 - 45 with 0 no time remaining

Just think...that penalty on the extra point turned into a 2 point conversion. That point ended up winning the game
Reminds me of Cal vs Miami they got too comfortable
42-17 = 28-3. They did a Falcons. Who is Tulsa's Tom Brady?
This is probably the most unbelievable comeback I've ever seen. What a game.
Until you see Boise State vs. Colorado State. How do you choke 30-10 in 4 minutes???!!!! 😭

It takes a special level of incompetence to lose a game in this fashion. Unbelievable.
Embarrassing
That’s a nice win for Tulsa!! Way to go Tulsa!! Bravo!!👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
The way that UTSA defense played in the second half, I'm sure many of those players moved up significantly on the Cincinnati Bengals' draft board. 😂
