Even though the Lions didn't end up winning, It still shows that no matter how bad it might look for a team, the game isn't over until the clock strikes 00:00
Damn. Titus Young. There was a time there when Stafford, Young, Johnson, and Best looked like they were going to dominate the league for a while. Best never fully got over that concussion from college and Young went insane. At least Stafford and Johnson had success.
I'm watching this and thinking wow the refs are horrible...... Then I hear the comment that they're replacement refs. I completely forgot about that happening
This was during a period of upheaval for the NFL. They had the players lockout in the 2011 offseason and then the referee lockout that lasted until Week 4 of 2012. There were also several big rule changes dealing with player safety that angered many fans and players.
This game really had everything. An insane comeback by one team, an insane comeback again, an onside kick recovery, a kickoff return for TD, a lateral on a kickoff return that went for a TD, a fumble return for a TD, a couple of interceptions, overtime, and a big defensive stop on 4th and short to seal it. Blown calls from the referees that went both ways, 2 point conversions, it really did have it all.
It is sad to remember that Jake Locker retired because he gave up on the sport he loved. Might have been due to his injuries and/or playing for the Titans.
Detroit Lions Was Member NFC Central Division From 1970 To 1993 And Houston Oilers Was Member AFC Central Division From 1970 To 1993 Thanks For Uploading
This was probably the highlight game of Jake lockers career sadly. If he wasn't so injury prone I think he could have been better. He had great arm strength and was quick on his feet.
Yep, that would be my pitiful, pre-Campbell Lions... Blow a comeback like that... Man, I'm glad I don't remember much before Schwartz; that's about where my suffering began. (I'm 26) So glad the sun finally came up!!!
Was at this game with my cousin and uncle. After Verner stripped the ball and scored we starting to make our way towards the exits. I'm watching glimpses of the final few minutes through the TV's on the concourse. As soon as we got to the gates of no return the Lions recovered the onside kick and there were fans running back to the gates from outside trying to get back in the stadium. Next thing there's a crowd of people outside the stadium gates trying to catch the final seconds on the jumbotron. Once the Lions forced OT the crowed got bigger and we started walking towards the Korean BLVD bridge to get a better view of the Jumbotron, and once again there was a crowd of people lined up on the bridge, some even drove back and parked their cars on the shoulder on the bridge to watch the OT. Also this was the 1st OT game were a field goals on the 1st drive doesn't end the game
Not sure if this has been said yet, but it's wild that the officials overturned the catch completion in overtime on the helmet to helmet hit. Yes, the ball moves, but it looks like it bounced off his thigh pad, not the ground.
Every time I watch one of these old “great” games that involve the lions they lose.. EVERY TIME. Been so great recently almost forgot how awful it was being a fan before Campbell .
The Lions wasting 12 years of an elite franchise QB, who remains wildly underrated, only to eventually build a juggernaut in the wake of the trade is crazy. Ultimately it was a great move for both teams as the Lions brought a real QB back, who was much younger giving them time to build, along with two firsts which enabled them to acquire even more young talent. The Rams obviously won the SB immediately just as their window was closing. It was the right move for the Lions, Rams, Stafford, and Goff. That said….this current roster with prime Stafford is a heavy favorite in the NFC. Goff is excellent in the pocket and has literally everything he needs or could want….but if the protection isn’t consistently great against the best teams in the playoffs I fear it will end much like his Rams run and the ‘23 NFC championship game…..he can get you right there. I’m deeply skeptical he can take you home.
Those refs were terrible (and I say this as a Lions fan), but the announcers were even worse. They had basically zero enthusiasm, excitement or charisma.
One of the most underrated and forgotten games of all time that needs to be remembered!
Even though the Lions didn't end up winning, It still shows that no matter how bad it might look for a team, the game isn't over until the clock strikes 00:00

Week 3 that year was full of chaos. So many games going down to the wire
The Jamal Charles comeback against the Saints happened in this same time slot
Also the end of the replacement refs. After that "Fail Mary" game, the lockout for the NFL referees ended.
I'm watching this and thinking wow the refs are horrible...... Then I hear the comment that they're replacement refs. I completely forgot about that happening
Shaun Hill was the absolute perfect backup QB
Compared to the rest of the ass backup QBs the Lions have had, Shaun Hill was the GOAT!
He was a borderline guy like a Ryan Fitzpatrick or today, Sam Darnold. Good enough to win games with a team around them.
Amen
Real ones know Jake Locker
Huskies legend
Thought Christian Ponder and him would be studs 🥲
Had he stayed healthy, he would’ve progressed into a franchise qb
Real ones know Stafford and Megatron lol
@@kareemi7080me to 😂 it sucks tho
That lateral at the end of the 1st was WILD
This is why Bowles left his starters in last night down 10. But nooooooo let's call for his job cause of the hip drop tackle that injured Godwin
Lions legend Titus Young

The only reason I remember this game is because Nate Washington caught that incredible touchdown 😂
one of the most underrated classic games in NFL history right here
Locker could have potentially have been something if he wasnt so injury prone to the point he lost the love of football
I had forgotten how much announcers pretended throughout this stretch that the regular refs didn't make bad calls all the time.
A Nate Burleson sighting
One of the greatest and most forgotten 4th quarters in nfl history
6 combined TDs scored in the final 7 minutes
I was 9 when this game was played, still Im not sure how I dont remember this one, what a game.
Sundays game is gonna be a bloodbath
Quality of the game looks better than now. QB play now is rubbish.
The quality of commentators today is rubbish!
2 TD's in 18 seconds has got to be some sort of record.
Mikel leshoure is a name I haven't thought of in a long time
It is sad to remember that Jake Locker retired because he gave up on the sport he loved. Might have been due to his injuries and/or playing for the Titans.
Tommy Campbell is a name I don’t ever recall hearing.
Matthew Stafford's nightmares
Jake Locker's career ended far too early.
The Jason Hanson's final season
This game pissed me off beyond belief when I was 17
Just don’t Google what happened to Titus Young after this.
Please DO google it. It's a sad story but we need to be more aware at recognizing mental health and how CTE can fuck people up.
@@acerimmer8338 in his case, it was unlikely CTE. He had issues throughout his entire life.
Detroit Lions Was Member NFC Central Division From 1970 To 1993 And Houston Oilers Was Member AFC Central Division From 1970 To 1993 Thanks For Uploading
I have Jake Locker's rookie card and it's 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Locker to Washington: just like the Titans drew it up
The Titans went from clutch to blew it to clutch 🤣
Titus Young was supposed to be good man
This was probably the highlight game of Jake lockers career sadly. If he wasn't so injury prone I think he could have been better. He had great arm strength and was quick on his feet.
12:09 you got Moss!!!
Bills fans seeing the lateral in the first: WHAT THE?!
Best sports game ive ever been to. Sucks we lost in OT. At that time, it was SOL. 😅
Awesome video

I Remember This Incredible Game Like It Was Yesterday
Jake Locker what a legend
This video makes Jake Locker look like a Hall Of Famer.
At least the first part does anyway
The lions made a lot of quarterbacks look like hall of famers back in those days 😂
Bruh imagine all the people who left close to the end of the 4th

Awesome Video NFL Throwback
Wow. That was fucking crazy.
Man all 12 people watching this game live on TV got a real treat 😂

I was at this game rooting for the Lions and losing my mind!!!
Lions getting revenge this Sunday!!
As a starter, stafford has 100 wins, 111 losses, and 1 tie.
Idk what these announcers are talking about with that last incomplete pass…the ball is clearly hitting the ground and moving outta his hands 💀
Tennessee with their second miracle lateral play, and I think these replacement refs called the game better than most regular refs today.
wasnt this game just on a video? the forgotten games
Jake locker Washington husky legend and an Heisman nominate
The ball, in OT, did NOT hit the ground.
How Leshoure didn’t get that first down in OT, I have no idea. Anyways, back to never hearing that name. Go Lions!
#OnePride🦁
3:36 was the punter injured? Lol definitely didn’t feel like tackling
Compared to all of the ass backup QBs the Lions have had, Shaun Hill was the GOAT!
i miss titus young
Those refs were terrible (and I say this as a Lions fan), but the announcers were even worse. They had basically zero enthusiasm, excitement or charisma.
I believe Stafford could have won a Super Bowl if he wasn’t in Detroit!
He did
A big time bust Jake Locker was
Mega Tron
Differant time differant players and coaches.this game coming sun will be differant.
Hanson was the goat
Titans vs refs wow
Jake Locker was god awful
Underrated hail mary. Probably because the ended up losing the game.
Man. Jason hanson was money
