Emmit Smith had the best offensive line leading his charge. Barry never had the O Line he deserved.....if you watch highlights of Barry......he could make a 5 yard gain look like a miracle just from him evading tacklers in the backfield.

Barry and Emmett were by far and away the 2 greatest running backs of this decade. Also, I think one of the biggest myths about Barry Sanders career in Detroit, is that he was basically a one-man show and was on a bunch of bad teams. Just not true. He was clearly the best player and the face of that franchise, but he was able to play with one of the most underrated receivers of that decade in Herman Moore, and another really good receiver in Bret Perriman He was also able to play a majority of that time with one of the better defenses in the league led by Chris Spielman. Those lions teams were never Super Bowl contenders, but they were solid to good in the years they made the playoffs. In Barry’s 9 year career, he actually made the playoffs more years than he didn’t.

The MNF was unmatchable showdown between Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith. Barry Sanders was known for his elusive running style, making defenders miss with his quick cuts and agility. Emmitt Smith, on the other hand, was a powerful runner who excelled at finding gaps and using his offensive line to his advantage. My favorite moment was Emmitt Smith had the strong performance, contributing to the Cowboys offense. This was a back-and-forth battle, so the Lions won 20-17 in overtime with a game-winning field goal. Do you have a favorite moment from that game or a preference between the two players?🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

Barry was a great runner but better than Emmitt ? No way. Emmitt put it up in big games in a big way. He moved the chains. Dallas O Line was great or was # 22 making him look that way ? It’s the chicken before the egg thing. It is a common myth that Sanders played on a bad team when in fact they made the playoffs over half the time during his career and even once knocked the Cowboys out of the playoffs on their way to the NFCCG.

I believe the following week the Lions were favored to beat the Bucs (the bad pre dungy Bucs) by less than a touchdown so I took the Lions as the 3rd team of my 3 team parlay. Usually stuck to college FB but it just seemed like taking the Lions (-6.5) was too good to pass up. Prior to this week, I had hit the 3 team parlay 3 weekends in a row. On Saturday my 2 college teams won and it all came down the the Lions. Of course they got their a*" whipped and killed my win streak. After that, my dad wouldn't let me bet every Friday anymore. Maybe only a few more times that season. Probably not wanting me to get "addicted " to gambling. Especially considering I was only 9 or 10 years old lol. Learned that season that NFL games rarely go as expected especially compared to college football.
If it wasn't the week after this game , it wouldve been the following year I'm almost certain.
