This was a monster RB matchup
Goats except cowboy's weren't same with damnit in game
After the blocked kick.... "Don't touch it Leon!" Classic line!!
Thank you for these awesome 90s games ....so many fabulous players and HOFs in this game
90's football was peak football.
Smashmouth and nostalgic snd the first year off Barry Switzer lmao wonder how Jerry would of done with twitter back then
Herman Moore deserves more credit and recognition
Former Virginia cavalier legend with Moore go Moore combo in college
Agreed! Perryman was a great number 2 wr as well.
Emmitt is example of what can happen if you build a great team around great back.
Sanders is example of what happens when you don't.
Offensively speaking they had the talent! Not so much at QB.. but Oline?!
They had Hartings Brown Glover
Moore Perriman Morton at WR
Sloan was solid at TE
Cowboys need to bring these throwbacks back ASAP
Barry had 40 rushing attempts this game! 40!
Different league, different kind of RB
I'll always be in the Emmitt camp, but I really miss this era of football.
Same sounded different guys didn't throw for 4000 yards but no targeting vs and more pure of a game
NFL Throwback is so close to 1 million!
😬
@@NFLVault cam Newton career highlights?
@@NFLVaultthanks for 90s nostalgic upload wish I could work for your channel !
@@packersauburneric3625I wonder if they’re taking any applicants. Seeing as the season is underway and that they’re posting pretty much every day, I think they might be looking for help. If not, insane how they’re able to pile up quality upload after upload.
if they're looking for help, i'll volunteer. give me access to the archives boys 😄
Brings me RIGHT back to my childhood.. throwback indeed.
Historic nostalgia so damn much
The real MNF of the 90s. There were some classics and this was one of them. I was 10 and best believe I watched this one. A rare moment of Emmitt vs Barry and they both showed up.
That mnf intro was electric
Damn them cowboy throwbacks are beautiful🔥👍🏽
Back when throwback jerseys were a novelty.
Exactly, now every team has 15 different uniforms.
This was during the 1994 season where every team wore their throwback uniforms all season long for the NFL’s 75 anniversary. Sadly they didn’t use this idea for 100th
@@jalengreen1301My Bears and the Steelers had the ugliest ones I recall!
Thank God for this games, it brings me back a lot of memories!!
Favorite channel so much nostalgic memories
That old school MNF theme!
🔥
If the "horse collar" rule had been in effect back in '94, there would've been 42 penalties in this game.
I was looking for this comment!
Lmao I believe former Oklahoma cowboys legend not Switzer Roy Williams lmao is part reason
We need some of those intros back, awesome!
I saw this game live on tv when it happen back in the 90's😊
Game sounded so much more physically
This is the football I remember. THIS is football.❤
Smashmouth football!
Barry Sanders=Best Lions player to exist 🦁
Eh I think Calvin Johnson but I can see either way
@@Kdsburner6996 Holy crap, can you imagine a team with CJ and BS on it?
@@jasonpdsi that team would definitely cause some damage with Matthew stafford getting them the ball or Jared Goff
Amen both tied
It’s Barry and it’s not even close
the Detroit Lions beat two defending Super Bowl Champions (Dallas Cowboys & San Francisco 49ers) on MNF in back to back seasons (1994 & 1995)
I just checked to make sure I get the Lions-Cowboys game this weekend and I am so excited!
So it's the main broadcast?
@@LiamDeege yep on FOX at 4:25
@@iselin90 Welp looks like I’m red zoning Steelers Raiders unless I go to a Millers Ale House near where I live.
Barry was the best human highlight film, but Emmitt was the more complete RB of the 2
They never threw him the ball. Barry had better hands than what he got credit for.
@@RamenRanger313barry was better and its not close
Emmit had lanes wide enough to drive a truck through. Look at some of these runs and how far down field he was before he was touched. The Dallas left side of the line, Newton and Brown, were GOATs. Emmit was good, but his line was great.
What does that even mean?!?
You can't be more of a "complete" running back because you have a better offensive line or a different offensive system. That's like saying a WR is not complete because he doesn't run out of the backfired or pass.
@@Stev4e897 he was good on that scheme
I miss the NFL when players had heart and wanted to be the greatest at their position.
Has to be the greatest regular season RB matchup of all-time
Bo Jackson Barry Sanders
Okay, THIS is *PEAK* Football!
Next year years Packers could of won 3 championships 😭
Smashmouth Larry's Allen era the Pitt!
Barry was a great runner, I wished he could have played longer..
2 of the best that ever did it 🔥🔥
Crazy how close the camera is zoomed in. Also lack of graphics is nuts
1994 was a really good year for MNF.
I like the Throwback uniforms/helmets event among many teams in '94.
In '15 we had the Color Rush event among most of all teams.
Now under multiple helmets rules, we are seeing the revival Throwback events and all-white/black trends.
I'm looking forward what event we'll see in the future...
Clash of running titans!!!
Top 2 statistical 90s rb on Monday night football lmao time flies I was in kindergarten
To think that Emmitt Smith and most of the Cowboys dynasty spawned from that busted Herschel Walker trade.
This might have been the greatest running back dual of all time
Barry looked like a kid in big pop Warner shoulder pads vs giant men lol
Even Barry's average short-yardage runs were most often superb runs. And of course, Barry Switzer knows ALL about Barry Sanders' threat.
Lmao why cause he went to Oklahoma st with thermal Thomas? And Mike gundy at qb
I think Barry sanders is the only rb I have watch on highlights cause he retired before I was born but that if you have it to on a draw with 3rd down & 10+ I would expect him to get nearly every time
For those who credit all of Emmitt's success to the OLine(and Moose), please tell me why only one of them are in the Hall Of Fame. And Larry Allen(RIP) wasn't even there for the first 2 super bowls, although was the GOAT.
Thank you! By the time Larry Allen arrived, Emmitt had already won ROY, Super Bowl MVP, NFL MVP, and led the league in rushing for three straight seasons.
Another movie to be added into my collection...
They’re playing in straight gym shoes yo
Your RUclips Channel Is Marvelous NFL Throwback
Incredible nostalgic feeling hearing the old MNF music beds (intro + coming in & out of commercials). So great!
NFL 75th Anniversary Season. A nice, uncluttered screen with no stats crawl and no yellow line for a first down. And 9pm Kickoff when MNF was a real event. And they could actually play defense. Those days are long gone sadly.
Anyone else hear "Aye, wtf" 11:56
The blocked kick 😂
It's a shame that Barry was stuck on such a middling team. Several times it looked like the Lions would rescue defeat from the jaws of victory.
Detroit Lions Was Member NFC Central Division From 1970 To 1993 And Dallas Cowboys Was Member NFC East Division From 1970 To 1993 Thanks For Uploading
They still part of the east an the north what you mean?
Yeah dude Dallas is still in the NFC East to this day; I don't know why you posted saying they were in the division from 1970-1993. You need to do your research better next time
This game actually lived up to its introduction
Fire alot of names
I was four when this game was played
I was 5
I was non-existent
I was 2
I was an embryo
Same lmao Alvin Harper's last season with cowgirls
I was privileged enough to be at this game. One of the greatest moments of my life, getting to see two of the all time greats in their prime!
The intro is 🔥
Nostalgic barley remember farther than this for NFL history 95 super bowl best I can do im 35
When you look google RB, Barry Sanders picture should pop up
Hi, excuse my ignorance, what type of court are they playing on? because it doesn't look like natural or artificial grass
Give Barry Smith’s O-line he sets every RB record a mile ahead of anyone.
Horse shit! Barry had a great O Line! Lomas Brown 7 Time Pro Bowler, Kevin Glover 3 Time Pro Bowler, etc.
I love Emmitt Smith, but Barry Sanders was just better, he did more with less help.. And if he would've played longer.. He would've been the all time leading rusher 💯
Bullshit! Barry had a very good team around him.
Yep Oklahoma st player wins,!
I wonder what happens if Barry Sanders didn't retire early. Does Detroit finally build a team around him, or does he gets traded away? Could be a good what if video.
Most likely gets traded
He probably would've retired as the all time leading rusher, give or take with Emmitt Smith
New England would've been perfect for him . Belichick and Brady were just getting started there in 2000.
@@thegorn68 Sanders retired after the 1998 season
Barry Sanders didn't retire early. He was done.
What a game, go Cowboys
Dear NFL:
Please watch these highlights. Running the ball is just as entertaining as throwing it 50 times a game. You’re welcome.
Testicular firtutudet
I believe the following week the Lions were favored to beat the Bucs (the bad pre dungy Bucs) by less than a touchdown so I took the Lions as the 3rd team of my 3 team parlay. Usually stuck to college FB but it just seemed like taking the Lions (-6.5) was too good to pass up. Prior to this week, I had hit the 3 team parlay 3 weekends in a row. On Saturday my 2 college teams won and it all came down the the Lions. Of course they got their a*" whipped and killed my win streak. After that, my dad wouldn't let me bet every Friday anymore. Maybe only a few more times that season. Probably not wanting me to get "addicted " to gambling. Especially considering I was only 9 or 10 years old lol. Learned that season that NFL games rarely go as expected especially compared to college football.
If it wasn't the week after this game , it wouldve been the following year I'm almost certain.
Looks like it was this year but the Bucs game was 2 weeks after this one. But considering this one was on MNF and also that I went to pops house every other weekend, my last memory would've been of them beating the Cowboys and not losing to the Patriots. Guess I was the sucker that weekend lol
Real football
Barry Sanders all day, everyday.
Oklahoma st
Barry Sanders got tired of hearing how Emmitt was the best back in The NFL.
I was there!
Smashmouth?
if Barry played 3 more years (which is the same amount of years that Smith did) he would have 3 more years to get 3086 yards which is an average of 1028.67 yards per season he probably does it
Yes do many variables though plus matt Millen lmfao
This would be the only time (and last time) Barry Sanders would play at Texas Stadium.
The refs' flat caps are 🔥
As good as Emmitt is, he has Barry to thank for the career rushing record 😌
Nobody to thank but himself, his o-line, and Daryl
Doesn't that mean that Walter Payton had Jim Brown to thank? Brown retired same age as Sanders.

Barry and Emmett were by far and away the 2 greatest running backs of this decade. Also, I think one of the biggest myths about Barry Sanders career in Detroit, is that he was basically a one-man show and was on a bunch of bad teams. Just not true. He was clearly the best player and the face of that franchise, but he was able to play with one of the most underrated receivers of that decade in Herman Moore, and another really good receiver in Bret Perriman He was also able to play a majority of that time with one of the better defenses in the league led by Chris Spielman. Those lions teams were never Super Bowl contenders, but they were solid to good in the years they made the playoffs. In Barry’s 9 year career, he actually made the playoffs more years than he didn’t.
The MNF was unmatchable showdown between Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith. Barry Sanders was known for his elusive running style, making defenders miss with his quick cuts and agility. Emmitt Smith, on the other hand, was a powerful runner who excelled at finding gaps and using his offensive line to his advantage. My favorite moment was Emmitt Smith had the strong performance, contributing to the Cowboys offense. This was a back-and-forth battle, so the Lions won 20-17 in overtime with a game-winning field goal. Do you have a favorite moment from that game or a preference between the two players?🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
The Cowboys LOST this game. WTH are you talking about?
@@thegorn68I mean to say the Lions won this game
Best cowboys in 1991 divisional also before getting mirdked by all time great Washington
Sweet uni's!
Barry Sanders is the best running back of all-time. Emmit Smith is definitely a top 5 running back. It was a blessing to see them both play 🙏.
Emmitt is the most accomplished running back of all time, but Barry was the greatest pure talent at running back of all time.
Walter Payton was better. More successful too.
Finally an accurate comment. I absolutely HATE when people say Emmitt is not even in the top 10. Even with that line you cant magically have 18k rushing yards. Barry Sanders is no doubt more talented but chose to retire... thats on him and isnt Emmitt's fault. @LembeckIsStaying
@@SwampFox178 ... Thank you for being the voice of reason. People act like being a starting NFL RB for 14 seasons is EASY.
