Fun fact: Alexis Bladel (Rory) said in an interview the writers wanted to make Rory less perfect, but she thinks they may have gone a little too far with the cheating plot point 😅
I always wondered what Alexis Bledel things of her characters actions.
A little less? This action was EXACTLY WITHIN her character. If this show had been “The Gilmore Guys” and was based on Luke and his nephew Jess who was relocated to his misbehavior- the SAME ACTIONS could’ve occurred in the earlier seasons and RORY WOULD BE THE VILLAIN.
Loralai is so justified in her reaction, good on her for calling her out.

Dean is like a tumble weed he was ok at first but then he started to dry up and just went wherever the wind took him.

Yeah it was. His reaction is understandable. I didn't realize that until I watched the next episode when I first watched it either.
yeah luke/nicole doesn't really qualify as a storyline so shouldn't really be judged as one. it was really just something happening in the background that we see the odd bit and piece of. it is called "gilmore girls" rather than "the lives of stars hollow".

Sir! I am at work!! How dare you have me hollering with laughter at this gloriously dramatic reaction lol that was great. I love this episode. That kiss was long waited for. As for the Rory situation....yes she did a oopsie, but Dean's behavior is atrocious. He's married, married! Poor Lindsey she did nothing wrong.
Neither are blameless (aside from Lindsey) but Dean is way more to blame than Rory. He lost me entirely with his, “We both feel like the marriage is over” bullshit. 🙄
I never get why people say that Rory is the worst character, she just became less perfect over time, which is pretty realistic.
ya especially if you notice the way that she has been raised and put on a pedestal by all the adults around her, so her making mistakes later in life is normal and natural
it is also kinda like behind the scenes, they purposely fully wrecked her story a lil bit cuz of some writer disagreements

I did like Rory’s explanation to Lane about why she rejected Jess. He IS wishy washy and she is right, that even if she said yes he probably would have bailed on her again or something different. He just wasn’t ready at this point to be with her. I just wish their conversation had ended better.
Dean is a nice guy for the most part, and yes, Rory did sort of mess it up when they were together, but there was a reason for that. If she was having feelings for someone else then obviously it wasn’t right with Dean. She is obviously just reflecting because she’s lonely. I didn’t like the almost kiss at ALL. It’s just so skeezy feeling when he’s married to someone else.
Luke/Lorelai were THE BEST PART of the episode, they were so dang adorable. I loved watching Lorelai freak out to Rory about them “dating” and wondering what they were. And seeing them be all akward around each other at the Inn was adorable too. Seeing him all jealous at the diner awwww. I loved their final scene in the episode. I loved how Luke finally just blurted everything out. The first kiss was SO CUTE!!!! SDFSDFSFSDFS.
I personally love Gilmore Girls up until the end of the first half of season 6.

What's even worse that Rory slept with Dean right after rejecting Jess and breaking his heart. She'd be a homewrecker than to be with Jess so that says enough how hurt she's still is after a year. I'm not saying that Jess was in the right they just had to sit and talk it through and she would't have slept with Dean.
And now Rory enters her unbearable era
The extreme hate on Richard & Dean is getting cringy by now. 😂 And I also love how everybody hates Dean so much when it is obvious who the real problem is. It is Rory & has always been Rory. First he wants Dean & then Jess when everybody arounds her said that Jess was trouble but she went with Jess anyway. And then she doesn't want him because he was trouble eventhough she knew he was trouble & now suddenly she wants Dean after he is married & calling him "My Dean". Like wtf. Dean & Jess isn't the problem, she is the problematic one.

The thing with Rory and Dean, I'm not saying what Rory did wasn't wrong. BUT we can clearly see that it was Dean who was so pushy about it and Rory atleast TRIED to stop it. What's extremely hypocritical of Lorelai (and the Rory haters) is how they conveniently forget that Lorelai DID infact sleep with Chris when he was with Sherry. Not only that, but also the whole "Don't be a girl who blames the wife for cheating". Lorelai constantly spoke bad about Sherry (even though Sherry was quite nice to Lorelai). But somehow only Rory is held to an impossible standard of never making mistakes.
Yes, I agree some things that Rory said were silly, like "he was my boyfriend first". She was extremely emotional, confused and unable to think clearly. But again, Lorelai didn't know the whole story and what surprised me is that she blamed Rory for the whole thing, and not Dean, who, literally went to Rory (asking Lorelai where she was btw) to take her virginity? If I had a daughter, I would be fuming if I found out that's the reason someone wanted to know where she was.
A couple of things. First of all this is AFTER the Sherry thing, so maybe Lorelai has learned from her mistakes and is disappointed Rory would make the same mistakes, especially considering Rory also had to deal with the fallout from that.
On a more technical level, Chris and Sherry weren't married. Also, Chris did specifically say he was planning on getting his own place once he and Sherry were back in town. And said that he and Sherry had specifically talked about the troubles they were having. Dean and Lindsay hadn't. These are actually some of the questions that Lorelai asks Rory. "Has he talked to her, is he moving out" etc.
Also, the Chris thing was very spontaneous. Rory has been justifying this crap to herself all season and has been actively promoting and encouraging it.
@@loveGG3 So what if it was after? It wasn't Rory who did that. The "do as I say, not as I do" is a crappy attempt at a rhetoric. Another thing, Lorelai was a 30 something with multiple previous partners when that happened, Rory's a 19 year old virgin. You would think she would be more understanding if she cared about her daughter so much like you say.
It's also very strange that you believe Chris so easily, and think that not being married makes cheating okay.
@@2029-jo I didn't say it makes it ok. I said it makes it different. As I said Rory lived through that devastation with Lorelai. It's not "do as I say not as I do", it's "learn from my mistakes". Don't invest yourself emotionally in a man who is with someone else. Knowingly cheating with someone who is married (even if they say they're unhappy) is WORSE than knowingly cheating with a guy who says he and his girlfriend have talked about breaking up. Especially when you are directly familiar with the emotional fallout from being 'the other woman'.
@@loveGG3 That's what I mean by people having a higher standard for Rory. She's expected to watch and learn and never make mistakes, but if it were another character (like Jess for example - who according to your logic, should've learned from his mother's mistakes - interferes in Dean and Rory's relationship, or with Paris - whose parents had a bad marriage - cheated on her boyfriend with Asher) they're labelled "relatable" or as ppl who have trauma. Why isn't ANYONE ELSE expected to "learn from another's mistake"? And why is Rory's trauma invalidated?
@@2029-jobecause she's the first one that puts herself in a higher position, where she can judge whoever she wants, like she's perfect. Like she did in the supermarket with Lindsay and on various other occasions... If you don't wanna be judged don't be so judgy and pretentious yourself first
I have my own opinions about Rory's relationships. But you aren't far enough along for me to voice them completely. Too many spoilers with my ultimate decisions

i personally think the show goes downhill till the second half of season 6 so you got a season and a half to go really
You mean to say 'after' not 'till"
The shows goes down hill after season 5 for many reasons, one of which is that Amy Sherman Palladino (show creator) who would have kept the show going longer than 7 seasons. If you at the end of the series like don't watch the revival as it gets so badly done trying to keep with what Palladino would have done in the original series and what the new exec did for season 6-7. Just my opinion
