@@SmartsealUk 🙂👍
I,ve just watched a video on resin driveways, this looks much easier which i hope to do this year. A very well presented video from you.
Thank You! your feedback and comments are much appreciated. Josh@Smartseal
Well done. You painted a drive!
You are right Neil, it is not the most challenging DIY project! Regards, Josh@Smartseal
great video, im about to do a small driveway tmw, i intend to use sodium hypo, 2-1 mix followed by 2 coats of patio restorer, would sodium hypo be ok, thanks
You need to be careful with any strong chemical on Tarmac, any product like that should be used very sparingly. Regards, George@Smartseal
Great video. Can this product be used on areas that have had engine oil leaks, area has been cleaned but may still have some oil stains?
Thanks for your positive feedback, the tarmac restorer is frequently used for this purpose. Certainly the better the stain can be 'neutralised' even if it cannot be totally removed, the better the product will adhere to the surface. Regards, Rick@Smartseal
excellent informative video, my tarmac driveway is on a gradient, does the product create a more slippery surface than that of the original tarmac and is the product vulnerable to de-icing salts?
thanks
Hello, thanks for your comment. The tarmac restorer does not change the texture of the surface, so will not increase the slip risks. We have not received any reports from customers saying that the product has been adversely affected by de-icing salts. Hope that helps. Alex@Smartseal
Couple of queries - my driveway is pretty old (over 10 years) and has a mixture of issues with cracking, the falling away at the edges and overall it has fragments coming away so this leaves a very bobbly surface and is effectively gradually losing part of the top layer. It's quite large so there is no way I could afford to get a new driveway. Any ideas on which products that would work best for the overall surface issue. I think I'd obviously need the seal and the product mentioned for the sides but was not sure how to remedy the rest of it.
Hello Nick, thanks for your enquiry, please send some pictures to www.smartseal.co.uk/help-advice/contact-us.htm we can then give the best advise. Regards, Josh@Smartseal
Hi what’s the difference in this sealer and a Solvent based sealer ? Also I have been using Thompson’s drive seal can you advise why yours would be more beneficial ?
Solvent based sealers can adversely damage the binding of tarmac Brendan. Our tarmac restorer soaks the lost resins back into the tarmac and is a professional product (sample available). It would not be right for us to comment on a competitors product, sorry. Regards, Rick@Smartseal
Many thanks for the video. Can the surface be jetwashed after application? Cheers.
Hello John, glad you enjoyed the video. It can be pressured washed, but this should be kept to a minimum. This is NOT because it will cause the product to peel or flake, but jet washing will be the equivalent to 'exagerrated' wear and tear, which can reduce the products overall lifespan.Once Tarmaseal is applied, the surface should be easier to maintain, with the occassional treatment possibly of a moss and algae remover all that is required to keep it looking good. Hope that helps Nigel@Smartseal
Brilliant video. Amazing the products these days. I’m looking at getting tarmac driveway put in this summer. How would you advise keeping it good from day 1 as opposed to trying to repair it once cracks appear etc ? Would you use the tarmac sealer every 2-3yrs and would you use some kind of sealant on it just after it was laid.
You are certainly on the right track Kevin, prevention is better than cure. I would suggest two or three years after your tarmac is laid, to apply at least one coat of Tarmaseal. This will replace the resins potentially lost from when the tarmac was 1st laid, reduce deterioration and maintenance. Hope that helps. Rick@Smartseal
i know im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot the password. I would love any help you can offer me
@William Anakin Instablaster =)
@Khari Nathanael i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im trying it out now.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Khari Nathanael It worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my account!
Hi in your video you mention a surface screed at 3min 45seconds but I am unable to find the product on your website. Is this still available
Thanks
Hello Chris, this would be our repair compound that can be found on our website. Please be aware it would only be effective if the damaged area is several mm deep. If the damaged area is very shallow, I would advise just protecting with additional coats of Tarmaseal. Regards, George@Smartseal
The builders have left concrete based dust trails on my tarmac. It isn't like lumps of concrete but trodden in dust. I will try to wash it off but if this doesn't come off, does tamaseal paint over it without seeing any pale grey dust?
Yes John, it should certainly work well for that purpose, samples are available for testing. Hope that helps. Jake@Smarteal
The surface of my drive is very uneven so the roller can't get into the deeper areas without drenching the roller and using huge amount of the product. Could I use a brush?
Hello John, yes it is possible to use a brush on the deeper areas, no problem. Regards, Nigel@Smartseal
Hi Smart seal, I have bought products from you, what is surface creed, is it available on your website? I couldnt know which one was it
Screed is a term used for a surface finish Veena. I am not sure in what context you are asking the question. We do not sell a separate screed product. If you have any questions, please call us on 01268 722500. Thanks Rick@Smartseal
Hi.. just had a piece of extra tarmac added on to my driveway.. looks a bit of an eyesore. The old meeting the new. Any tips please?
Hello Mary, If it is practical to treat the whole driveway with Tarmaseal, it will give you a consistent overall finish. Hope that helps, Andrew@Smartseal
Hi can you give me advice. I foolishly sprayed my brand new tarmac driveway (5 weeks old) with ‘anti bacteria multi purpose cleaning spray’ to clean a largest slash of birds droppings but it’s left a light grey batch which is noticeable. I since then cleaned it with diluted washing liquid, deck brushed it and rinsed the area with luke warm water but still the light grey mark is still there. Help please!
Sorry to hear about this Gracie, a sample size of the Tarmaseal product (£4.95) is available through our website. That might be enough product to disguise the affected area. Hope that helps. Josh@Smartseal
Oldish vid I know, but what’s the product that’s being poured from the jug at around 4m27secs? Can’t quite find it on your website.
Hello, thanks for watching. Yes, sorry, the liquid crack repair product is currently not available. Hopefully it will be again in the future. Regards, Josh@Smartseal
@@SmartsealUk would you be able to suggest an alternative product for those sort of cracks? Thanks.
@@tweez7817 we have a coloured powder repair compound that can be mixed with liquid to repair cracks. That is what our DIY & Trade customers currently use - see www.smartseal.co.uk/coatings/tarmac-sealer-restorer/crack-repair-compound.htm Hope that helps. Regards, Josh@Smartseal
Whats a horizontal wall ?
Oops, sorry. did we make a mistake on the video? Josh@Smartseal
Would this adhere to flagstones ?
No, this would be the product for concrete flagstones - ruclips.net/video/IfZy1zWJEm0/видео.html Hope that helps. Regards, Josh@Smartseal
What products would you recommend to fix fretting?
If the tarmac was initially laid correctly, the ‘fretting’ is caused by the resins that ‘bond’ the aggregate together ‘drying out’ over time due to usage and the elements. Application of Tarmaseal will not bond the already loose stones together, but it will greatly reduce further deterioration. Regards, Rick@Smartseal Support
What about those dry wood fencing don’t they need protection too 😏
Yes, we would agree with you, any external hard surface requires some degree of maintenance to keep it in good condition. Thanks for your comment! Regards, Smartseal Support
Does nut last
Hello Tom, thanks for getting in touch, are you referring to our product? if so please provide an order number or postcode. We will then look into why the product has not met your expectations. Regards, George@Smartseal
Asphalt it's Asphalt not Tarmac, Tarmac is a company.
Yes, you are right Paul, but we find the general public mainly think of Asphalt as ‘Tarmac’ in very much the same way people refer to a vacuum as a ‘hoover’ (again, a company) Regards, Smartseal Support
No one calls it asphalt in the uk
It was initially called 'Tarmacadam"
" Tarmacadam is a road surfacing material made by combining macadam surfaces, tar, and sand, invented by Scottish engineer John Loudon McAdam in the early 1800s and patented by Welsh inventor Edgar Purnell Hooley in 1902. The terms "tarmacadam" and are also used for a variety of other materials, including tar-grouted macadam, bituminous surface treatments, and modern asphalt concrete." RE WIKIPEDIA
Tarmac is a company - no doubt there.... but they don't have a great deal to do with Tarmacadam.
How long do you have to wait to drive a car on your drive after you have put Tarma black preserver on your drive
