I just bought the new 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum and I absolutely love it, no regrets. I love all the features and value. Overall, I prefer the Nissan Pathfinder over the Kia Telluride.
The driver is the most important person in the vehicle. Nissan understands the driver need to have the most room and be the most comfortable. The lives of the other passengers are in the drivers hands.
I bought the 2022 pathfinder after taking back my deposit with kia. It's just my wife and I we love the better gas mileage a recent 3 hour trip with ac and music on blast got 29.4MPG. Kia was not worth the price increase for all the 2nd and 3rd row when we will only use it once or twice a a year.
I drove both bought the pathfinder. Real world price was better, real world 3rd row seating was better, more modern tech, and funner to drive than Telluride. Interior material looked a little more upscale in the Kia but the pathfinder looked more modern. Both are very very nice medium size SUVs.
Just bought the new Nissan pathfinder Platinum. I test drove the Kia telluride... but here in Florida Kia is charging $18,000 over MSRP because they say that they have the top SUV. Making it approximately $68,000 - $72,000 for the top trim, I say Kia can keep their Telluride. This is my 3rd pathfinder and I LOVE IT!
When I was looking at the Toyota sienna and the Kia carnival in Wilmington North Carolina, the Carnaval Dealer wanted six and $10,000 above MSRP for the Kia carnival van. I believe they were asking almost 15,000 over MSRP for the Telluride. I think it’s horrible and completely unjustified.
Good for you! I experienced the same thing. Few years back they used to beg people to buy their cars. Now that they make a halfway decent one, they think they’re BMW! The pathfinder is great - enjoy!

Fantastic comparison between these two new crossovers. 👏 Both of these vehicles offer so many features and accouterments that it makes it a tough choice. So, for me it’s more practical choice than Telluride; adequate leg room and adequate headroom, compared to great leg room and cramped headroom in Telluride. Zach is definitely leaning Telluride! It's better looking, more refined, more spacious, more powerful, better tuned transmission, longer warranty, a better overall package and likely better resale value. The Pathfinder has the nice digital cockpit in higher trims, more towing capability and better overall color choices inside and out especially with the two tone black roof option with many colors. Telluride still leads the way but given it's huge popularity in the U.S. in particular you may not got a good deal especially now with the "chip shortage crisis" and the back log of customers orders particularly for the EX and SX trims. Love to see the Telluride compared to the new Jeep Grand Cherokee L at similar pricing. Maybe The Telluride SX-P vs the GCL Limited/Overland! Great comparison guys!
I definitely agree with the lag in acceleration/pickup in the 2022 Pathfinder. It’s a little bothersome when trying to merge on expressway or when trying to pass cars.
I like the direction Nissan is going. While everyone applaud Pathfinder going from CVT into ZF 9 AT. This ZF 9AT has iffy quality problems, from what we have witnessed in both FCA and Honda/Acura. Its also the reason why Honda Passport is a slow seller, other than the HondaLink infotainment class action in the States. Between these 2, I would take Telluride is a heartbeat. Kia and Hyundai are making one of the best cars right now. Better get them when they are still cheap because they will get more expensive as time goes.
i tested the Telluride and there was nothing wow factor. 2nd and third row seats look smaller in person for some reason. I wasn’t too crazy about the comfort.
Around here, the Pathfinders are selling fast. They are not lasting a week at the dealers. I was wondering about the transmission. Honda had a field day dealing with ZF and they finally went in to re-program it. I'll wait until it's been updated.
Nissan need to go back to the drawing board and make vehicles that are more reliable. There are too many mechanical problems and that explains losing sales especially with infinity brand. Hope this pathfinder is reliable than other Nissan cars.
I like to take my canoe and my bikes out sometimes. The Pathfinder has a "real" roofrack where I can re-use my sturdy crossbars to attach one or two boats to. Also most models come standard with the towing hitch which is handy for a proper bikerack. You didn't mention any of that in your review, but i think for those people who really need to use SUVs (rather than like being seen in them) these are quite important considerations.
Canoe & bikes can go on top of most sedans. Outdoor folks use sedan and Subie like to use bike or even trucks not SUV like Pathfiner. Most people would need a ladder to load things top of medium/larger SUV. SMH
@@Jgjginkg244 He said he uses the towing hitch...i.e. tow hitch mount bike rack, mine carries 5 bikes at a time. this is the best review I ever see, great video. Got my pathfinder 2023 SL premium in Canada today, kia telluride is way long to wait and higer price with higher interest rate. Compare to the 22 version, the 23pathfinder got smoother start, but auto off is such a nightmare, have to turn off everytime is kind of boring. 2things i think pathfinder win telluride, first is the new IIHS side impact test resaults, you can see the second row side airbag help to protect 2nd row passanger. second thing is pathfinder have some robber protecter under the door frame, which place i got a lot of snow deposit on my CRV. 2 good things i think telluride have and pathfinder should improve are the side view camera when you flash turn signal, and the larger cargo lenth after 3rd row up.just a inch longer comon! i like the looks of pathfinder, maybe because im getting old.
Brilliant comparison, as usual. The most important question, though, is whose phone is the Samsung S7 at 9:35? It's one of my all time favorite Samsungs :)
pathfinder wins because you pay for the car. literally all Kia dealers are asking 2k-5k market adj price for the telludride. Same thing happens to the Hyundai palisade.
Great comparison. Shopping for 3 row suv to replace my 2014 Acura MDX. Looked at the Acura and I can't get over the clumsy infotainment system and shifter, although it does drive nice and provides more of a luxury feel. Also, looked at the Grand Cherokee L which has great styling and good towing ability. Seems like the Pathfinder fits in between the Telluride and Grand Cherokee L with respect to towing and being a little more rugged. The only thing I don't like with the Grand Cherokee L is the price but it kind of provides a little bit more capability and the interior feels a little more high end. Will you be reviewing the Grand Cherokee L soon, as it would be good to see how it stacks up against these?
Exactly in the same boat, test drove Telluride (overall liked it) and waiting to test GCL Overland trim. Never owned a Jeep product so a bit hesitant with regard to reliability. For the money Jeep could have upped the warranty. I'm drawn to the more capable, rugged look of the Jeep especially in higher trims with the air ride suspension but I also like the look of the Telluride. I think the Telluride's V6 might pull it's weight around better than the (heavier)Jeep's V6. The Jeep's powerful 5.7L V8 would be enticing but you kina get killed on fuel economy (17mpg combined..yikes!). A V6 Turbo would have been about right for the longer and heavier Jeep. The Grand Cherokee L's covers a lot of price points with six trims but you still have to add pricey packages to get all the goodies. You're 10-15 grand over a Telluride SX-P to get a loaded Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland or Summit. The Jeep is about 8 inches longer but has less passenger volume. The longer hood maybe to accommodate the Hemi V8. A comparison between them would answer a lot of questions like driving dynamics, seat comfort, cargo and passenger space ,power on the highway, maneuverability, infotainment responsiveness, features and layout, value for money etc. etc. Hopefully Zach and Andrea get a chance to review Jeep's new 3 row SUV ;-)
Not sure what’s happening in Canada, but here in Oregon dealer markup is adding 6 or 7 grand to the MSRP of the Kia. Meanwhile, some Nissan dealers I sold it it ( are offering a couple of thousand discount. That results in $50k versus $42k for similarly trimmed vehicles. Im going with the Pathfinder. Oh, and I’ve had 2 Pathfinders and an Xterra which were all totally reliable. One had 330k when we traded it.
I went to test drive a 1 year old Telluride and the Interiors looked so cheap after 1 year, i didn’t like even sitting in the Telluride. Hope your comparison also talks about the Interior quality.

The Pathfinder seems more comparable to the Highlander , Pilot, and Sorento. Telluride is much more of a luxury suv than any of those.
I own one mine is very good on acceleration. Enough with the CVT I owned them both. CVT not as good yes but I saw no major issues with it. love the new trans though. Pathfinder looks better.
Would like to see a review of the Telluride vs Infiniti QX 60 when you can. I would assume the Infiniti drives smoother than the Telluride. For me, I like the looks of the QX 60 better than both the Telluride and Pathfinder. Between the Telluride and the QX 60, I think cost will be a big issue.
@@aono335 I strongly disagree! The Infiniti QX60 has more technology/features (many which aren't available for the Kia Telluride), along with a more upscale interior with better material quality throughout. Furthermore, vehicle "demand" based on popularity doesn't always equate to overall sales which is why the Telluride is currently 12th place in the midsized SUV class despite it's newfound hype. *MIDSIZED SUV SEGMENT 2021-H1* *US midsized SUV sales 2021 - YTD (From Jan - Jul 2021)* 1. Toyota Highlander - 144.380 2. Jeep Wrangler - 118.666 3. Ford Explorer - 118.241 4. Jeep Grand Cherokee - 107.924 5. Chevrolet Traverse - 83.431 6. Honda Pilot - 76.560 7. Toyota 4Runner - 69.949 8. Telluride and Palisade pricing is extremely misleading and reviewers dont say this. US dealers add a Markup of $5k to $8k or 8 months waiting period in lieu of and the Korean twins are not a good bargain anymore. The price is now in luxury 3 row SUV range and they have to be compared against 2022 Aviator, MDX and QX60. Those waiting 8+ months for a Telluride probably dont need it and those paying a premium are buying into the hype.
I don't have a horse in this race but, I can't help thinking about all the engine and gas tank explosions Kia and Hyundai are well known for. Huge recalls and press on these two issues everywhere. I think these have to factor into the equation when comparing vehicles. I think Nissan has a far better reputation when it comes to reliability than either of the two Korean brands. If I had to choose between the Pathfinder or Telluride, I would choose the Pathfinder. I prefer a vehicle that isn't going to kill me when I accelerate.
I recently drove both cars top trims. I enjoyed driving Nissan more than Telluride. I am not sure about the hype of Telluride... I don't like the driving. I know, the space overall is little more on Telluride but as an average height person.. i found Nissan has enough comfort room. Oh, Telluride has noisy cabin when you accelerate the gas. It was annoying for me vs Nissan is very quiet (may be it has thicker glass).
I can appreciate the Datsun HardBody tribute accents. Well done them. But the only way that I would consider the Pathfinder over the Telluride would be... if Nissan’s ‘Nismo’ design team sprinkles their magic over it. The clear winner for my money would be Kia. Thanks for another great comparison video guys.
The main driving reason for economy size small cars is the cost of fuel to operate. EVs will not have that issue and motor vehicles will become human sized again. Remember the land yachts of the 60s and 70s.
Yeah. I remember. And the king of them all.. a 1975 Lincoln Mk V… has less front and rear head and legroom and less cargo space than my 2018 Honda Civic hatchback. Also slower top speed and acceleration. And fewer creature comforts. Don’t believe me… go look up the brochures and see for your self. When you have an engine literally five times as large (7.5L vs 1.5L) mounted longitudinally with a huge transmission tunnel, drive shaft hump, live rear axle, and a fuel tank to feed that massive engine… there isn’t a lot of room for people. They also made those land yachts longer than they had to be, which is why they downsized so easily in the late 70s. There was a lot of empty space in the fins and beaks that were ahead of the fan and radiator and behind the trunk.
Pathfinder can tow 6000lbs and has 600lbs hitch weight. Telluride towing weight is 5000lbs. Who cares about screen size, how big do you need these screens to be, all you read is radio stations and maybe a map once in a while.
Seems like nobody can dethrone the Kia. Because at the end of the day, it gives you more for less. Like the man says, everything seems to be better. As for towing? Who cares if the capacity is 1500lbs more? How often are you really towing? If you have a giant boat, then go with a Yukon or Durango. But give Nissan props for trying. I have their 14 Pathfinder. Remember this: At one time, the Pathfinder was rugged and was meant for off-road. It rode like a truck and looked like one too. But most weren't using their SUVs for off road, so in 2013, they changed it to unibody and they sold a ton. Moms liked it. Because it's still a "Pathfinder" even though in reality it was more of a "Mallfinder". Now they switched it back. So at what point, will they go back to a car like ride? In 15 years?
The HP and Torque are just part of the equation when it comes to towing. The correcting gearing is a major one, also how the frame is built and weight is distributed throughout the vehicle
its all going to come down to ride on the Pathfinder. The KIA has WAAAAYYYY too much road noise. Its a lot louder on the highway than the Pilot we have. The Pilot is pure hatred around town. The trans is horrible, the ride is horrible, the infotainment is the worst. My 2008 4runner has a better Nav and I still dont know how it works. Your trip will be over by the time the Pilot goes from AM to FM.
Telluride is just better packaging design to get more space from the same size. Pathfinder is the victim of platform sharing/reusing old platform cost savings
Time will tell if Kia motor will hold up. That's the only issue I have with the Kia and Hyandai 3rd row SUV. Future reliability!!! For now Honda, Mazda, and Toyota all day!
Talk to any mechanic, they’ll tell you that Hyundai/Kia V6 are very reliable. I own a Kia with a V6 with no problems over 70,000 miles. Just keep up then maintenance. It’s the 4 cylinders that have issues.
I am a mechanic and I can tell you that Kia and Hyundai are more reliable than most Japanese and European brands (Of course, Toyota is still great) But Nissan, Mazda, Subaru etc are not as reliable as they used to be. Times change... people just have a hard time accepting it.
all Japanes products are out smarted out foxed by Korean products, now days you can hardly buy japanese electronics at shops, the cars are about to desappear, it will be game over for Japanese cars if chinese cars show up at western world.
I am surprised by the reliability numbers for the Pathfinder. I don't know if it got better over the years but we purchased the Pathfinder when it was redesigned in 2013 and started to have problems in the 4th year with the air intake, A/C problems (twice), driver window that won't come up, driver inside door handle breaking (couldn't open the door from inside) then transmission issues. My Nissan dealer is trying to pull me into another Pathfinder... Good luck with that. We are looking for either the Palisade or the Telluride. I have mixed feelings about the Atlas. The Traverse was another 3 row contender but it feels cheap and overpriced (even pre-pandemic number). The 3rd row in other mainstream manufacturers is a joke (Ford, Mazda, Honda, Toyota, Subaru).
Exterior goes to the Pathfinder for me.

No need for a ladder, no need to put on a roof (I hate seeing it, as the bike flails on the roof)....
Your basically saying to carry a bike a sedan or a truck is best when a SUV can do it just fine...oh boy...
this is the best review I ever see, great video.
Just keep your Acura!
Please mention that the Telluride base model in Canada is very well equipped and comparable to the competition same price product.
So the Pathfinders towing advantage goes out the window because the guy is aTelluride fanboy?
not to mention ''underpowered'' Pathfinder being quicker in acceleration not by much but still...
Pathfinder
Between the Telluride and the QX 60, I think cost will be a big issue.
telluride for me. Looks classy!
Bamafan1
When it comes to overall technology, luxury & brand status, the Telluride isn't even in the same ballpark as the QX60.
@@TheBjjones id say only in terms of brand status. But even then Telluride is more in demand then any QX60
@@aono335
I strongly disagree!

Telluride is the best in midsize suv.
The Pathfinder wins because it can tow 6,000 pounds.
Looks very good performance and with a lot of economy of the Nissan Pathfinder.
Of all of these 3 rows - prefer the durango for its towing ability = but it is a $5k upgrade for their "tow & go" package
CVT for such a large vehicle??? what Nissan was thinking.... finally they are thinking with conventional automatic gear box. definitively a smart move
P A T H F I N D E R !
Where is the spare tire kept on the2023 Pathfinder
The new Pathfinder offers 4wd and not mentioned AWD. There is a difference between the two drive trains.
I like the way the Pathfinder looks and drives better than the Telluride.
Look up reliability of past Pathfinder CVT issues. Also look up reliability with Telluride, it is stellar.
Pathfinder best kia
Why do Pathfinder owners come here and spam comments? Why watch a review after you've already bought the vehicle LMAO
Naveenkaratekid I don't think your post aged well....LOL. 1 year later the Future is here and so is the Grand Highlander....dun dun duuuuun!!!!
Telluride has no tow hooks and Car & Driver got it stuck in loose dirt!
If you need a third row GET A MINIVAN!
Big improvement by Nissan especially no CVT and interior design. But, I can't imagine how Nissan survive in this competitive market.
they said that they made a large legroom for the driver side because the main man is the driver they should be more comfortable while driving.
Telluride all day!
I would definitely not describe either of these as boxy.
It's kind of ironic that the vehicle you guys are sitting in while doing this review doesn't look like it's a Telluride or a Pathfinder.
Porsche Cayenne, maybe?
@Tanah Merah
Yeah, that's kind of lazy!
Telluride for overall looks and quality interior. I might choose the Pathfinder if it ever comes back out with body on frame down the road.
The kia telluride is the winner.
The new Pathfinder is still a unibody, not a truck base. Matter of fact its ride on the same but update platform.
I don't understand how the pathfinder have 1k lb tow more than the telluride since the telluride have more hp and torque
The HP and Torque are just part of the equation when it comes to towing. The correcting gearing is a major one, also how the frame is built and weight is distributed throughout the vehicle
Because Japanese towing powah >>>>>>>>>> Korean towing powah! Just like Japanese hp >>>>>>>>>>> Korean hp!
Telluride wins easy. Pathfinder isn't terrible tho.
Nissan Pathfinder is faster than Kia Telluride SX
I love nissan and it's history nissan skyline, Datsun, Z etc. KIA/Hyundai don't have a legacy, pathfinder anytime!!
its all going to come down to ride on the Pathfinder.
8:06 or as I like to say, it YEETs the seat so more folks can get in.
Telluride back looks ugly. No digital instrument cluster. Those are a deal-breaker.
@@ivandoneshefsky4762 time will tell.
That new Kia logo sucks. I wouldn't buy the 2022 because of that.
The Nissan has a very reliable engine that will give you 250k miles the other not.
Pathfinder has more front row headroom.
T E L L U R I D E
Nissan had plenty of time to match or even exceed Kias Telluride “Range Rover” copy. Unfortunately Nissan has fallen wayyy too short.
Nissan is little better
Kia should pay them for such a bias review 😂
