    Teddy, you nailed it with this video. A lot of people are sick of BIG watch fad. There are tens of thousands of us looking at less than 40mm watches. This was timely and perfect video!!!

      You know there is a short list of those making the larger sizes anymore...and there is a market for larger watches...like me! I am an ex-football player ( American Football ) and I was 6'6" and 340 lbs as an Offensive Lineman... and still today as a 64 year old, my wrist is still 23 cm...9". Larger watches are no longer a fad, as I got my first 47 mm watch back in 2001...that's 21 years ago. Fads are short term. The 36-41 mm watches never went away.

      @@larryd4352 A big watch is not limited to 47mm and beyond. For most regular sized males (not football or basketball players) a watch is big over the 41mm to 42mm mark and there are A LOT of companies that still make watches of that size. (mostly chronographs, divers and pilot watches).

      Had the same feeling in years! Even brought a 35mm Santos.. But people should focus more on how the watch wears. Does it matter if its 39 or 41? Just brought a Marinemaster SBDX001. Wears nothing like a Panerai Luminor. Both 44

    For me knowing the lug to lug length is important. I have very small wrist. So a lug to lug of 47mm or 48mm below is my max. For case 39mm looks perfect.

    • @TeddyBaldassarre
      @TeddyBaldassarre  2 года назад +46

      There are many factors in wearability and lug-to-lug is certainly important. I figured case size would be a better way to test this idea of building a list around size to begin. So far, people seem to like it which is nice to see.

    For me this is a perfectly timed video. I own a Casio Duro and a 37mm Casio three hander. I love the Duro’s charisma and presence, but at 44 mm it’s a bit big as an everyday watch. The comfort of the 37mm is amazing, but I love dive style watches. Been thinking about this case size lately.

    A great review Teddy looking at watches based on size for those who have a certain diameter wrist that rules out some models from brands. I have to love the Omega Globemaster blue dial, I have this on the leather strap and for me is definitely a keeper, that pie pan dial is a work of art. The inclusion of the BB58 is a no brainer as a stunning diver along with the BB Pro. For those who rule out the BB Pro out due to the thickness dimension but like the design (I did initially) I recommend that you try it on the wrist if you can as it hides its thickness very well indeed as I ended up leaving the AD with it on my wrist. Thanks for sharing Teddy.

    I love your videos. In that kind of series 39mm, 38mm, I would enjoy a 10mm, 11mm, etc. Thickness instead of diameter. That is actually more important to me. I can wear 36 to 42 as long as thickness/thinness fits. Thanks!

  • @waterfordrs22
    @waterfordrs22 2 года назад +2

    I just started this video. 39-40mm is a real sweet spot in terms of design and visual balance. I can wear a 42-44mm case no problem, my favorite watch by far however has a 40mm case width. Even simply sitting side by side with the others, it simply looks right.
    Tudor this very day re-released the Ranger in 39mm, Hanhart just released the 417ES UN 39mm. People are refining their understanding of design, there’s a more nuanced approach to it.

    Great content! But, it's not just 'the smaller wristed." I'm bigger guy, but just like the classic proportion on wrist of a smaller watch. Looks better IMO. But traditionally, 39mm is still a big watch (the 39 Explorer wears BIG)! I'd say it's the max for a 3-hand watch. 39 is only smaller for chronos and divers. Good luck getting the Jumbo, but that Globemaster is a peach!

    Would you consider doing an updated video on your current watch collection or consider mentioning here and there what you're wearing in particular videos? Really curious to see where your collecting journey has taken you and what you're into these days. Keep up the awesome content!

    Hi Ted, I hope you can add additional info which is "dial size" in your future videos. Some watch have a smaller case diameter but having large dial due to slim case like IWC Portugese etc. Thanks so much bro!

    Great video. Maybe a video about large dials that still wear perfect for average wrists...
