The big question, is it fun? If it's fun to move and sort the boxes then people will get used to the new flow pretty quick. Seeing your aUEC fill up slower due to time sinks won't make as much a difference if you enjoyed the process.

    • @aitvaras5271
      @aitvaras5271 3 месяца назад +9

If that was the only thing that was slow, you'd probably be right. However, Star Citizen is already asking for a lot of patience of the player. You're already waiting for elevators, trains, claiming times and many more things. The whole cargo gameplay as of 3.24 probably isn't fun enough to compensate for the game being even slower. So if you end up having poor aUEC rewards for trading/cargo hauling, you may just end up pushing players towards other professions.

We want a dynamic mission system.
    We want player bounties .
We want a more immersive and real commerce system with supply and demand driven pricing

Seems to me that the game fav who exactly?
From my perspective the majority has work, kids , irl shts to do and still want to have a good run in a space game.
Space trucker or not or wahtever you like to do, the waste time is crazy!
I play starcitizen to fly the darn ships , fps stuff and I do love the cargo, but after a day of work to come home and wait hours for the sake of realism, hell no.
    I don't want a second virtual job.
So in order to make progress in cargo u need to be lifeless and mive boxes from a to b?
Why not exclude the quantum drive? Maybe we can go from Brezek to Lorvile in a life time.
Easily they can make an option for the player to chose , some want to get old in order to fill a C2, some want in aprox 5 h daily play to do cargo, kill stuff, delivery, whatever.
So from me a drop in the ocean this seems to me resources alocated wrong, like what colour to make the handle instead of making the door open.
Anyway see you in the verse how it last.

When "immersion" in a game becomes so realistic that it becomes tedious, then that game is on its way to failing as a fun or challenging experience - and probably failing in general.
In addition to all the normal griping about the bugs, I'm seeing more and more complaining lately about CIG's design choices ramping up the tedium and taking the fun out of the game. That wasn't the case even a few months ago.
This project was already full of huge time sinks, and most people are only going to have an hour or two on a workday or a few hours on a day off to play. If they can't get going quickly in the game and have some fun - they're going to find a game that offers that.
Nobody gets into a game to take on a second job.
I've had issues with many of the design choices all along, which I suppose is natural, but CIG does not respect their player's time at all.
For the first time in the four years that I've been playing this game I am getting really concerned with its long-term viability; not because of the tech issues, but because of the design choices.

The only thing to think about would be the ram- SC will run on 16gb (you will manually need to increase the size of your page file), but things will be better with 32gb. So when spending as much as this laptop would cost, I'd either look for an option with 32gb, or id consider buying 32gb and installing it myself. 4800 mhz also isn't the quickest and will impact performance.
Otherwise the 4070 will be plenty (and you've now got dlss in game to help out with graphics load), and the 7940hs will likely be the main bottleneck in places like the cities, but it's about as fast as you can get CPU wise!

CIG are going to have to balance things very carefully between ‘realism’ and ‘immersion’ and ‘tedious administrative grind just to do basics so you can get to the gameplay’. An example of this is the way the new inventory is clunky and harder to do many things at present, and you need to go to the old one to do things conveniently. The inventory system wasn’t perfect but it generally worked quite well, whereas the new one to do basics like drop things to the ground to pick up afterwards isn’t possible (or intuitive). As a first step, this is all good but an hour to load cargo ‘automatically’? Errr, okay and so what do we do in the interim.. stand around and wait? This is a game, CIG need to not lose sight of that.

@@FreebirthBoccara Except they mentioned it won't update as you buy new ships. Eventually you'll be able to buy or rent more hangars, which will be how you're able to get larger hangars. Also initially the difference between personal hangars and regular hangars will be pretty minimal early on, as the benefit of personal hangars is that stuff always persists in there. Either of them will be private, have cargo and ship elevators.

I am guessing the cargo elevator scu amount is related to the size of your hanger. My cargo elevator size was 1000 scu for a 600i (that I called), but that is not my biggest ship. Currently, the Caterpillar is my biggest ship but I am waiting on a Polaris and a BMM.

I know you can auto load but the load times 1hr for 100scu? Does that mean 5 hrs for my c2? Talk about sucking the fun out of the game. They really need to increase commodity prices to make this remotely profitable.

having the loading loop close to finished (from a timesink perspective) should at least allow them to finally balance cargo/trade profits in a meaningful way.
One question: in the video clips they non-ship-platform area looks awfully slim, like you couldn't really design those sprawling/chaotic open-door living spaces with couches, cargo laying around and tons of other stuff.
is this an optical illusion caused by the big platform or is there actually only a tiny space available?

As long as they have stuff to do in the mean time / pass said waiting time or other items you can do that are quicker to accomplish game play wise.

After the weeks of "a couple more days", it is good to know Persistent Hangars + Cargo Elevators at least got to EVO and shows signs of being functional. It may yet pan out like PES by the time it gets to the PU (_assuming_ it even gets that far! ).
On the back of that, given all the smoke and mirrors, it is somewhat heartening to know that 3.23's (MIA) Headline feature actually exists and has been interacted with by some ppl outside CIG.
