    1:45. Watching your tutorials has allowed me in less than 3 months to paint 2 florals that are now framed and proudly hanging in my living room. I have never tried watercolor before but loved the watercolor pictures decorating my home. I am 83 years of age and having the time of my life with watercolor painting. It is very uplifting to see my progress from watching your tutorials. I cannot thank you enough!

    Is it really necessary to rudely comment on another person’s allergy or sinus issue? Why, in today’s society must people be so unkind? Whatever happened to “if you have nothing kind to say, say nothing at all?” This gal is very talented, and is kind enough to share this talent with everyone for FREE, mind you. I, for one, appreciate it..

    I love these. Very pretty. They would make great, quick watercolor cards to have on hand for any occasion. I painted on Arches and also on a Strathmore watercolor card and I don’t recommend this technique on anything but 100% cotton paper like Arches or Bee or Strathmore 500 series, etc., because you’ll end up with hard edges and blooms (back-runs, cauliflowers.) That pretty much goes for most paintings, but Emma’s technique for these layered flowers needs good paper. If you want your end result to look like hers, use the paper she’s using 😘.

    • @vangogo6819
      @vangogo6819 5 лет назад +11

      I agree, I tried this technique with a lesser quality paper and got a lot of "blooms", "cauliflowers"etc. Tried again using my Arches paper with no problem. I have to say Emma makes this look so easy but when I did this it took a few practice runs. Sometimes we all need a little humbling,lol.🤣🤗

    • @ChristinaTodd1970
      @ChristinaTodd1970 5 лет назад +15

      Van Gogo, she does make it look easy. I tend to paint on the tighter side and try so hard to loosen up. When I do it just doesn't look the same, initially. If I leave it alone and look at it a few days later I'm usually pleased. It's the leaving it alone I struggle with. I've ruined more paintings I care to admit to by fiddling and adding that "one last layer."

    • @vangogo6819
      @vangogo6819 5 лет назад +11

      @@ChristinaTodd1970 Me too, I have learned the hard way after more paintings than I even want to think about that it is best to stop the minute you say to yourself, hmm, should I? NO! You shouldn't! Just walk away and no one will get hurt,lol, but seriously it does take a lot to not overdo a painting. I'm learning to slow down and be patient but it's not easy.

    Very pretty! Layering with watercolours is not as easy as it sounds. I am very grateful for my heat tool. When I get started I don't want to stop. I want to watch my painting unfold in all it's watercolour beauty, or not, with my heat tool I can continue and my colours don't get muddy. I enjoyed your tutorial. Hi Emma i started to paint in watercolors last Christmas because I did,nt have the money to buy the holiday cards that I wanted to get , but I must say thank you to you and ellen crimi-trent for the educational insight on how to go about it and I think the cards meant much more than the bought ones even though the paint and paper ain't cheap, it worked out better though and I think what you,ve shown here is ace , I might even pick the brush up again if there still here so thanks again and a big hello from the UK 🎨

    Emma~ I actually found your channel by a fluke. I was looking for something in particular and there was your video painting flowers in layers. . I thought..wow how gorgeous but there’s no way I can do that! I need to paint something that I’ve sketched beforehand, I find it easier, but the final results I just don’t care for. I was about to throw in the towel and give up, but I ended up watching your video. I’ve watched other videos on layering but I just couldn’t relate to what they were talking about.. You take your time explaining what you’re doing so that we can fully understand it. Being a beginner is hard enough, but finding the right teacher well that takes a lot of research. I couldn’t believe it, right in front of my eyes was my very 1st watercolor painting, not sketched, and it actually looked really pretty. Thank you for that because I really didn’t think I would find anyone I could relate to. You’re an amazing teacher, your work is beautiful, and I have my confidence back. I subscribed to your channel and I’m looking forward to watching more videos and seeing my work improve. I belong to a “beginners watercoloring group” and have yet to post anything. I will now. Thank you Thank you💞🌸🎨🌺👩‍🎨💞

      Emma Lefebvre, I’m sitting at my desk sketching the daffodils you’re painting in a video, so I can paint them tomorrow and a notification goes off on my phone. It’s a comment from you. Now that’s perfect timing👍 Today I woke up with a new attitude & perspective about watercolors. This all began (my new hobby), because I wanted to paint something special for my great niece. It’s her 1st birthday on May9th and this is very important to me. Claire passed away the day she was born, and I have something special planned that I want to paint. Also, I’m painting tulips for my niece Taylor (her mom) because I think she deserves something beautiful as well on that day. It has been a horrible year, and painting has actually helped my heart and soul. That’s why the gratitude I have (in finding you) is such a blessing to me💞💞

    Very beautiful indeed! My only query involves touching the paper with your fingers to test for dryness. I was taught to ONLY check with the back of my hand so any oils on [some] hands & fingers don't negatively influence (aka ruin) how well the water & pigments work on & in the paper. I'd always thought any danger was probably negligible. Still, I'll not test any paper after french fries, potato chips or fried chicken! Thanks!
