Marta, I have been following you for at least 3 years. You are a fantastic artist and teacher! And you give permission that we can all do this. Even as adults we need that approval and encouragement to move forward sometimes. Fear of failure is a BIG issue with me and I am quite sure with many others. Thank you for being you.
Yes!! Good watercolor paper is crucial. Don’t think, “I’ll wait until I have more skill,” because poor paper will give you poor results which will be discouraging and might make you stop painting! Personally I prefer Arches, which IS costly, but it can be cut down into smaller pieces as Marta shows here, and you can paint on the back of it!

I am in love with your attitude there are no excuses not to paint.. No table or easel use an old cafeteria tray, you an paint on your couch, love seat,kitchen, bedroom, etc.😊
Stop because I had this attitude and did watercolour on my bed when I wanted to paint at 1am without disturbing my family and now my sheets are permanently stained from me spilling it 😅😂 I do it on my bed all the time now cos it’s easier

I'm a new subscriber, from Alabama, America. Love watercolors- I've watched LOTS of RUclips videos on watercolors. Videos from respected artists with decades of teaching art. So, I know an experienced art teacher whose teaching style grabs my heart & soul. You are one 😊. I know a lot about watercolor painting but little practice of what I've learned. So...HERE'S MY PROBLEM. I'm such a perfectionist, as many artists are. I'm scared of making mistakes, that I won't be good at it, etc. But I know I just have to make myself practice, practice, practice. Thanks for giving me freedom to be loose, relax a little. Look forward to seeing more of your videos.

I've been unintentionally hoarding my paint supplies.. mostly because I spend more time watching video after video of other people paint. Thank you for your inspiring words to just "go with the flow" and just start painting. Starting is the hardest part. Someone once said, "If you aren't creating, you are consuming. Tip: tape to a small clip board, rather than table, so you have both the benefit of paper not scooting as you paint, and the ability to turn the paper as you paint to make strokes easier. I love painting with paper taped to a board, so I can turn my painting easily, and yet keep my paper flat.

I am new to watercolor painting and I have a hard time painting flowers (I am not an artist by any means) I am retired and just wanted something other than crochet to to keep me busy. I watch a lot of tutorials,bought a ton of paints and some really good paper and brushes ( Temu is a great site to buy art supplies and so much cheaper than any art supply shop) Anyway, as soon as I saw the brush you were using and how beautiful your flowers came out I ran into our basement and grabbed a new brush I had bought to paint our house.
