@Endlesspizza194 those are less major arcs, I don’t really count it as a major arc, but they are indeed short! I’m talking about dbz, it doesn’t have any small arcs that have their own season.
@@bloonarius DBZ does have a short arc of the "End of Z" saga, which is pretty important as it shows Goku becoming a master himself. I do agree B.o.G and R.o.F are not important sagas since they could've used the movies instead
Gohan! You can’t intervene! Your friend/crush is getting the most vicious beating ever, she’ll probably die BUT IF YOU INTERVENE YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED
The biggest person I still consider to be at fault is Supreme Kai Shin for not informing the main cast of the threat and failing drastically (even before we bring DBS to the table of discussion as it wasn't canon at that time).
True enough that Shin didn't tell them upfront. But he did inform them en-route to, and inside, Babidi's ship. Yet they still didn't take it seriously. Even after Kibito got killed and Piccolo and Krillin got petrified. They still didn't care. They cared so little, in fact, that Vegeta and Goku made arguably the worst decision in the arc; fully knowing that it would lead to Buu being resurrected - despite all the warnings. So I honestly don't think it would've mattered had Shin told them sooner.
@@EndoScorpion The problem is *how* they were told. At every turn they were being told how unfathomably strong their opponents are, and at every turn those opponents were all massive disappointments. I don't blame them for doubting Shin's read on the situation when it came to Buu. IMO The fact that Shin went over King Kai's and Dende's heads are the real problem. King Kai would have sent him to Goku, probably warned him not to work with Vegeta, and would have said something along the lines of "And whatever you do, don't tell Goku that Buu is a strong fighter. Don't even mention Buu. Just say Babidi is casting a spell to destroy the galaxy or something and has to be stopped." Just offer Goku some extra time on earth if he does this favor for the Kais.
But they volunteered to follow Kaioshin there (Goku specifically volunteered to help) and then Kaioshin told them on the way. And Gohan, Goku, and Vegeta didn't take the issue seriously. What is Kaioshin supposed to do when they ultimately don't listen to him? He can't make them do anything since they're so much stronger than him.
@@kevingriffith6011 never thought of that one but yeah shin ignored king kai and dende who as the local gods should have been his first port of call about this whole buu mess to begin with, heck berus gave king kai more respect by going to him first before heading to earth yes part of that was cause goku was there but he talked to kai first as the god who might have intel he needed before going to a planet he was in charge of
I've gotta say that it was a mistake by Vegeta & Piccolo to not check in with Gohan from time to time during the 7 year time skip to make see how he was doing training wise. You could 'excuse' Vegeta by saying he was focused more on training his own son to get strong, BUT Piccolo of all people should've done something! Dude is on the lookout meaning he could see from up there that his pupil was parked at a desk more than cubicle working making minimum wage!

14:00 In Vegeta's defense, I don't believe anyone knew what was going to happen when Vegeta removed Fat Buu from Super Buu's body. I don't remember, but I think the only person who saw and was aware of "Evil Buu" was Mr. Satan, so for all they knew, removing Fat Buu could've just destabilized Super Buu. The only thing they knew was if Buu was separated from the others, he lost access to their powers, just like when Gotenks de-fused inside of him.
That was the literally the most logical move Vegeta ever made, anyone in those cocoons are treated has power sources that added to Super Buu’s strength, of course he’s going to yank him out.
Honestly Vegeta would (hypothetically) do fine if he didn't always get eventually get pitted against big boss guys who actually have some cunning manipulation. Minions dont got brains and cant bamboozle him but anyone who knows how to push his buttons (for better or worse, high Goku and Bulma) work him just fine.
@_sindrus. The first time was when they were ALREADY defused AFTER fusing, the second time was AFTER GOKU refused to fuse again. Not saying EVERYTHING was perfect about him, but in comparison to everyone else after their said mistakes, I'd say he was the most locked in IN COMPARISON.
gng I was referring to the second time, the first one was stupid but they already defused so it don’t rly matter, the second time is just vegeta being dumb
When I saw Tien again, I thought he was pull out some new transformation or powerful technique. But he easily got knocked out by a pair of legs. What a let down.
I definitely think it is important to remember that these characters are in very stressful and scary situations so it makes sense and is overall better if they make mistakes and don’t do everything perfectly
@@Imperialmonke Except he wasn’t. We see in this arc that he wants the next generation to do more, leading to him not thinking super logically because he thinks they’re stronger and smarter than they really are.
1:42 don't forget that the Supreme Kai Force Gohan to stand still with his powers. As soon as they tried to jump him he could have knocked him out and then got information from them.
They would've died before talking as they were controlled by Babidi. That wasn't a mistake on Shin there. They needed to find out where Babidi was. The mistake was letting them get so much power from Gohan in the first place like he mentioned in the video, but Shin had no idea how powerful Gohan really was at the time.
@@MDCxThePG all they have to do is capture one of them. Then Goku could have locked onto their energy and then staged them to get away. Then Goku could have used instant transmission to teleport to them. They also have Bulma I'm pretty sure she could have come up with a way of finding him.

8:35 You know, something I have always questioned about the dragon radar. You know that multiple people have built radars and Bulma in super builds the Super Dragon Radar. So why doesn’t she build a second dragon radar to keep on hand or as a backup? That way if something happens to one radar like it being destroyed, stolen or not in use we have a second radar to help solve the problem.
that final section with all the mistakes relating to goku and vegeta's handling of super buu and kid buu was very gratifying, it really felt like toriyama was trying his hardest to find literally any tension he could
I don't know about that. From what Ive read, Toriyama wanted Vegeta to be killed in the Saiyan Saga, but because he had become such a popular character, he was kept in the story as Toriyama feared a backlash from fans by killing him off. Toriyama then intended to kill off his character in the Frieza Saga, but he was revived with the Dragon Balls, as Toriyama felt that Vegeta was very helpful to have around. Yes, by the time of the Buu Saga, Toriyama was receiving many fan mails asking him "not" to kill Vegeta, so in the Buu Saga, he purposely did just that, and Vegeta was meant to be finished for good there. That's why his sacrifice was made to be so emotional and so impactful, Vegeta's character was supposed to done there. It also made sense as it helped this, "the next generation" story because the strongest fighters from the previous generation Goku and Vegeta were dead at that point, so it was really was up to the next generation to save everyone. The issue is, I believe this time, Vegeta was brought back, not because of his popularity, but because of the change in Toriyama's direction. The Buu Saga was initially about building the next generation, but then all the next generation characters get killed and the old generation gets brought back to life and defeat Buu. Toriyama said that he didn't like Gohan as a main protagonist, so he think he just brought Goku and Vegeta back in order to give the story an ending he felt best suited it, or at least and ending he liked.
@mohaukobe7872 I thought he brought back Goku also due to him receiving fan mails asking to bring back Goku as a main character since the majority wants him to stay.
@@RenShinomiya121 later on Toriyama did say in the interview he just thought Gohan doesn't suit as a mc and brought Goku back. You could find the sourcr if you want.
So I know Goku SAID he could've beaten Fat Buu but I'm honestly not sure of that. He was definitely stronger than Fat Buu but Buu is insanely durable and good at regenerating and Super Saiyan 3 burning Goku's time in the living world so quickly combined with it just eroding stamina like nothing else meant Buu only needed to stall until Goku ran out of time. Buu is insanely hard to kill (as the entire rest of the arc makes very clear...he comes back from smoke when Gotenks incinerated him!) and if he only has to stall to beat Goku even Fat Buu could've pulled that off. Someone's going to tell me I'm contradicting what's written in the material but all that's written is that Goku THINKS he could've beaten Fat Buu. I just never really believed him.
You have to kill buu the same way you kill cell which is a blast overpowering enough to wipe every last bit of him away like Vegeta thought. Vegeta was right but didnt realize his blast wouldnt be strong enough.
That's why I love dragon ball and I absolutely LOVE and RESPECT Toriyama (May he Rest in Peace), and his story writing skills. Everything works out in the end, and everybody gets a happy ending. When I watch stories, I *don't* like to be traumatised by a *tragic* ending, where something goes wrong. _Am I weak hearted... Maybe ?? But I love this show cuz it brings good endings for everyone_ But on a serious note, one lesson to learn from Toriyama's works, especially Dragon Ball, is "Its never *too* late to fix things"
@@joshuameraz2826 no, cause he did it anyways and by the end of the arc, every one of his reasons went down the toilet. And that’s not talking about pre Buu awakening where he could’ve one tapped Vegeta so Buu didn’t get the energy he needed to wake up

It always boggled my mind that Shin and Kibito weren’t aware of the saiyans’ strength… I have to imagine during the Cell Games, they would’ve sensed Gohan’s ki, or even Goku’s ki in other world at some point…
@ well not quite, Babidi and Dabura had scouted out Earth a long time ago before Dragonball even began, and noticed that there were some “strong” fighters, but nothing remotely threatening. That’s why Babidi was so surprised by how bad his goons were getting thrashed. I think the original plan was to literally steal energy from every living thing until Buu was ready.
You could also make the argument that Goku telling Buu about the lookout was a mistake because without it he might've legitimately just stayed on the surface killing people for longer.
Their friends and family overlooking that Gohan would've come back to life by the wish *wasn't* a mistake. Goku was unconscious when Gohan *presumably* d!ed. So when he gave the news, all of them assumed that Gohan was k!lled *after* the wish was made. Also, don't forget that none of them could sense Gohan's ki, confirming that the unfortunate event *had* actually happened
Your timing is messed up. They mention Vegeta and Gohan are dead on the lookout after Goku wakes up but BEFORE the wish is made. Not sensing Gohan’s ki means he’s missing at that point not that he’s dead.
@@CarthusDojooh I remember. 1st the wish was made, then Goku teleported the group to the lookout, and then informed that Gohan was d3ad. Sorry Carthu, its been *quite* a while that I've read the manga...things get mixed up sometimes. Thanks for the info, btw👍🏼
He's also wrong about Gohan being too hurt to catch it. We literally see Dende heal Gohan back to normal and Buu immediately decides to blow up the Earth after Tien arrives. Buu never attacks Gohan once before Goku throws the earring at him, yet Gohan still looks like he's in pain for some reason.

Aka the Many Mistakes of Shin! 1:22 1st Mistake - Dicking around and acting all mysterious during the Tenkaichi Budokai instead of immediately letting the Z Fighters and Earth Guardian know what's up! 1:12 2nd Mistake - Not doing hardly any recon or research on the Z Fighters (Shin is constantly suprised by the Goku, Gohan, & Vegeta's power)! 1:09 3rd Mistake - Letting Spopovich & Yamu steal Gohan's energy when Earth has Fortuneteller Baba who could easily tell them where Babidi's ship was located! Seriously his whole plan was to stop Buu's release, so why give energy to Babidi! 4th Mistake - Not having a contingency plan if Buu was released! Also never thought of trying to reason with Innocent Buu or trying to reach the memories of Grand Supreme Kai within him! If the Galactic Patrol could figure that out (albeit probably with help from Merus), Shin should have! 5th Mistake - Not recognizing Vegeta was a liability nor trying to make a deal with him! Like tell him that he and Goku can fight on the Supreme Kai World (even if Goku's time runs out as the dead can reside on the Supreme Kai World) if Vegeta helps kill Babidi! Had he done his homework he might have forseen these possibilities! 6th - NOT INFORMING GOHAN's loved ones of his survival even when Shin had plenty of time to contact King Kai or Dende to relay the message for him! Chi-Chi died because of his carelessness (let's be real even if it motivated Goten, it was rendered moot by Goten following Trunks' lead & Gotenks' inability to take the fight seriously)! 7th - Never informing the Z Fighters about Buu's absorption ability nor his full history! This would have left them less likely to underestimate Innocent Buu, aware of the danger of absorption, and recognize Kid Buu as Buu's original form!
5:27 Me personally I Wouldn't call this a Mistake Sure it was Kinda Odd that they Would do that but thanks to the wish kibito got revived Making him able to Heal shin Who was at deaths door trying to save gohan And then they both finde gohan and Heal then train him
There were so many times when that arc should've just ended but didn't that it genuinely became frustrating to continue the series. They keep managing to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory to the point it becomes absurd
The long-awaited sequel has finally arrived Edit: This is a bit of a rant & I'm sorry, but i gotta bring it up Gohan WAS using SSJ2 against Dabura. It doesn’t make sense for Gohan to fight Dabura, who was confirmed to be at minimum, a Perfect Cell-level threat & NOT go full power & more importantly, it wouldn't make Vegeta's comments about Gohan getting weaker any sense either. Vegeta doesn’t whine about Gohan not using SSJ2 or going full power, he whines about Gohan not being as strong as he should be This doesn’t work if Gohan wasn't using SSJ2 against Dabura, which again, HE *WAS!* This is something I hear a lot from people (not you specifically mind you) & it infuriates me to no end
Toriyama had a very specific way of drawing the aura of SSJ and SSJ2. They were different. And I'm not just talking about the lightning, but the overall shape of the aura itself. Gohan's aura during this fight looked like SSJ1 when you compare it other other SSJ1 aura's in this saga. Dabura was said to be "a lot stronger" than Cell by Goku. After killing Kibito, Goku estimates Dabura to be around Cell's level. But after seeing Dabura fight Gohan for a bit, Goku corrects himself and says Dabura is "a lot strong than I thought". Gohan might not have been fully healed by Kibito, who struggled to heal him after Spopovich sucked his energy out. Gohan was also very peeved at this point, after seeing Videl get hospitalised, people think he would struggle to go SSJ2 without that anger, because we don't see him go SSJ2 any other time in the arc. Gohan during the Cell Games was so far beyond Cell's power that SSJ2 was overkill. With only 50% of his total power left, injured with only one arm, Gohan was still able to match Super Perfect Cell's Kamehameha (Cell was going all out trying to kill Gohan at the time). And yet this Gohan was still holding back. Meaning he was using a lot less than that 50% he had left. That shows Gohan far eclipsed Super Perfect Cell in power. So much so that SSJ1 could've been enough if you go with the assumption SSJ2 = 2x SSJ1. So, we have Dabura being "a lot stronger" than Cell, and Gohan not been as strong as he was during the Cell Games. It makes sense that SSJ1 Gohan is roughly Dabura's level (or slightly less). And we know Gohan was out of breath while Dabura wasn't. Putting Dabura above Gohan in this fight. Vegeta also says that Gohan shouldn't be struggling this much, despite everything. Which lends more credence to Kibito not fully healing Gohan, and Gohan maybe not being able to tap into SSJ2 due to that (and his lack of emotional investment).
I like how Gohan not training as rigorously as the others avoids what would definitely be a powercreep issue. Rather than one super strong fighter we have a whole roster of strong ones to focus on.
You gotta ask, though, would #18 have been willing to help stop Buu from hatching? It's been pretty well established that there isn't a lot she'll do without monetary compensation. Even if they'd thought about asking her to come along, she'd probably refuse because with most of the group gone, she stands a much better chance of winning the tournament and getting a payday. #18 may not be evil, but she's not exactly altruistic or righteous either. Unless it personally affected her, I don't see 18 jumping into the fight unless Supreme Kai promised her a dump truck of gold for her trouble.
7:57 - i think its more clever than you give it credit for. Not all mistakes are character flaws. Some of them are from the writer's lack of awareness or foresight.
I just realized something funny. I was thinking about how in Naruto the previous hokage were revived and immediately locked in to help with the war effort meanwhile Goku is "lawl im dead, let the kids do it".
Biggest mistake was Bulma not convincing Buu to stop his evil ways for candy. She does this with Whis and Beerus, and she doesn’t for the guy more susceptible to food.
@@CarthusDojoI don’t think that’s the problem for me, people have on the brink of death but have been able to catch stuff like senzu beans. Like Vegeta on the Namak arc when he was bodied by recomme. Goku threw a senzu bean at the near death Vegeta and he caught it fine.
12:40 what makes it worse is that in the namak saga his body was beaten and broken to the point he could barely move but was still able to throw a damn frog to perfectly intercept ginyu’s body swap technique.
15:33 for this one consider things are slowed down for the viewer and everything is happen in speedster time. He actually didnt have enought to time to transform.
Uh no, not even close. That’s on Goku for forcing his son to be burdened as the hero without asking him if that’s ok. He could’ve come back, his reason not to was stupid and didn’t work. C)the buu example doesn't work because goku said he probably could be fat buu which he actually can't due to 1 simple fact

I never understood why Goku did that. Did his time in Other World make him desensitized to brutal violence like what happened?
Shin’s canonically an idiot.
Wouldn’t consider that a mistake, they should’ve have to look after gohan as he becomes older.
I understand Piccolo, but why did Vegeta need to take a look at Gohan?
Vegeta didnt care about anyone besides Goku (and his family subconsciously) so he wouldnt really seek out Gohan. He just cared about being stronger.

That was the literally the most logical move Vegeta ever made, anyone in those cocoons are treated has power sources that added to Super Buu’s strength, of course he’s going to yank him out.

that final section with all the mistakes relating to goku and vegeta's handling of super buu and kid buu was very gratifying, it really felt like toriyama was trying his hardest to find literally any tension he could
He's the reverse Madara, they have 100 ways to kill the main villain but stupidity happens
Fun fact: Akira Toriyama wanted to kill off Vegeta for good, this time. But the fans wanted him back. Again.

That's what attracted babidi too.

10:43 minutes is a lot of time in dragon ball
There were so many times when that arc should've just ended but didn't that it genuinely became frustrating to continue the series. They keep managing to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory to the point it becomes absurd
The long-awaited sequel has finally arrived
Edit: This is a bit of a rant & I'm sorry, but i gotta bring it up
Gohan WAS using SSJ2 against Dabura. It doesn’t make sense for Gohan to fight Dabura, who was confirmed to be at minimum, a Perfect Cell-level threat & NOT go full power & more importantly, it wouldn't make Vegeta's comments about Gohan getting weaker any sense either.
Vegeta doesn’t whine about Gohan not using SSJ2 or going full power, he whines about Gohan not being as strong as he should be
This doesn’t work if Gohan wasn't using SSJ2 against Dabura, which again, HE *WAS!*
This is something I hear a lot from people (not you specifically mind you) & it infuriates me to no end
Mr. Popo should used the "Pecking Order." on Buu.
Abridged joke.
I see you everywhere
You gotta ask, though, would #18 have been willing to help stop Buu from hatching? It's been pretty well established that there isn't a lot she'll do without monetary compensation. Even if they'd thought about asking her to come along, she'd probably refuse because with most of the group gone, she stands a much better chance of winning the tournament and getting a payday. #18 may not be evil, but she's not exactly altruistic or righteous either. Unless it personally affected her, I don't see 18 jumping into the fight unless Supreme Kai promised her a dump truck of gold for her trouble.
Krillin asked her, if she goes with them, but she refused
I loved the many mistakes from the cell saga, and a i'm going to loved this one as well
Ive been waiting for this video and i loved it. Also the ssj3 jokes are getting out of hand...BECAUSE THEY ARE SO FUNNY! Loved the video.
Just shows how Toriyama wanted to end the series, and how greedy everyone else was (Shonen Jump, Toei, etc).
Carthur, we need one of these for the Goku Black arc, for both anime annd manga versions
7:57 - i think its more clever than you give it credit for. Not all mistakes are character flaws. Some of them are from the writer's lack of awareness or foresight.
my guy those guys can dodge punches that come at the speed of light but my man cant catch a darn earring
good he finally got those glasses
There are many mistakes throughout Dragon Ball...
I just realized something funny. I was thinking about how in Naruto the previous hokage were revived and immediately locked in to help with the war effort meanwhile Goku is "lawl im dead, let the kids do it".
I stopped listening to "To Pimp A Butterfly" for you Carthu.
13:24 Gohon couldn’t be revived as he was already revived in the same arc because he was killed by fat boo
You know what Saiyans had in common in the Buu Saga? Overconfidence. They all got too confident that Buu ended up defeating most of them.
Biggest mistake was Bulma not convincing Buu to stop his evil ways for candy. She does this with Whis and Beerus, and she doesn’t for the guy more susceptible to food.
That wouldn't work on super buu it definitely would work on fat buu. Plus Buu can make food or at least candy on his own without any help.
13:02 NAH THAT GOHAN FAULT YOU CANT BE THAT FAST AND NOT CATCH SOMETING LIKE THAT
HE WAS LIMPING AROUND BARELY ALIVE
@@CarthusDojoI don’t think that’s the problem for me, people have on the brink of death but have been able to catch stuff like senzu beans. Like Vegeta on the Namak arc when he was bodied by recomme. Goku threw a senzu bean at the near death Vegeta and he caught it fine.
@@CarthusDojohe wasn't "barely alive". In the manga, he didn't fight Buutenks after getting healed by Dende, so he was fresh at that moment
12:40 what makes it worse is that in the namak saga his body was beaten and broken to the point he could barely move but was still able to throw a damn frog to perfectly intercept ginyu’s body swap technique.
Spopovich made sure Videl stayed in the kitchen after DBZ. 😅
*And he died for it. Good riddance, too.*
"Even with all of that, the arc manages to end happily"
"Plot"
15:33 for this one consider things are slowed down for the viewer and everything is happen in speedster time. He actually didnt have enought to time to transform.
Can we also let Gohan Slide? My man just got free from Chi Chi, and he was looking to dance with some ladies.
Gohan is literally the source of all mistakes in this video, he was wasted in the buu arc.
Uh no, not even close. That’s on Goku for forcing his son to be burdened as the hero without asking him if that’s ok. He could’ve come back, his reason not to was stupid and didn’t work. He told Gohan before he sent him to fight cell “do this and you can be a scholar”. Then suddenly after Cell died he was all like “it’s all your responsibility now, see ya” 😂
I think you might be a little special
You are such a true fan!! this is how I see Dragon Ball Z as I watched it as a kid
The part where a civilian tells Carthu that it's May, and he forgot that the Buu Saga took place in May while speaking about Christmas gifts, cracked a smile.
You are peak, Carthu. Remember that.
3:06 p is for priceless the priceless look on your little faces.
You can even tell Piccolo did not want to sacrifice the population of Earth but he really thought there were no other options.
I wanna expand on that goku mistake when he threw the earring cause in the namek saga, goku’s body is beaten within an inch of his life, goku gets it back, and then picks a frog up and throws the greatest dime in dragon ball history in front of a bloodlusted vegeta and ginyu
Amazing video like always
I love DevilArtemis’s animation based on your “What if Goku went SSJ3 vs Majin Vegeta” from years back. That would definitely be the best-case scenario where Goku wouldn’t need to throw many, if any, punches.
your back !!!!!!!!yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
you know this it’s fire when the goat uploads
