- Just a video showing you how to remove the OEM stereo and CD changer and in my case, replace it with an aftermarket Android Auto / Apple Carplay navigation unit and recessed pocket shelf to replace the CD changer.
I used the below listed stereo and dash / wiring kit (Amazon Paid Links)
Atoto A6 PF Double Din Stereo amzn.to/3jgU5ZG
Stereo Wiring Harness amzn.to/3HVx1Kt
Metra Dash Kit amzn.to/3YKQ5ks
Backup Camera amzn.to/3BUWYWA
Subwoofer Amp amzn.to/3Gfj09b
Amp RCA Cable amzn.to/3GirGf3
Thank you for the video. To not get up twice, I’d probably add a backup camera with the radio installation.
I did add a backup camera at the same time. The one I used is in the description. Perfect for the 1st gen Pilot
I have the stock radio with 6 disc changer the changer is broken cycles looking for disc nonstop (annoying) I wonder if I can just disconnect it leave it in place but still have the stock radio work
For reference, 77280-S9V-A01ZA is the part number to change cd changer to a bin storage (from OP).
I have navigation up top - will I need to also replace the radio below with a “blank” and also need a new amp?
What did u do about the dvd player setup ..
Very helpful, thanks for the video. Now can we get an update on the unit you installed?
Works fine.
So awesome that you were able to get an amp setup to work with the factory sub. I’ve got an aftermarket head unit and would like to copy your amp set up. I’ve never installed and amp before and would like to know where you got the power and ground from? Also the RCA cable that you linked in your description, you used that to go from the head unit to the amp correct? Then did you cut off the factory sub wire harness and then connect those wires to the amp? The wiring is slightly confusing for me at the moment, would you mind spelling it out for me? Thank you for the help!
Yes. The RCA runs from the back of the stereo to the amp, which is behind the stereo. The power for the amp is split from the power to the head unit. The yellow wire is constant battery power and black is ground. For the amp remote turn on I used the amp wire on the back of the stereo. That's what tells the amp to turn on. There is a factory harness that runs to the sub that was unplugged from the OEM stereo. It's very obvious because it only has 2 wires going into it. I cut off the plug and wired those 2 wires to the amp output . Just need to use one of the amp channels since it's a mono sub.
So great! Thank you for this information. I’ll be tackling this later this week
Sweet. Thanks for tips
Do you have a part number for the Pouch/Tray you used in place of the 6 Disc CD Changer? I am doing the same thing but cannot find that pouch/tray. Also you mentioned you added a subwoofer amp (Used your link to review) were you able to mount in behind the stero? If so can you identify where you placed it. Thanks for the post awesome job!
Part number is 77280-S9V-A01ZA, but it's no longer available new. Have to buy it used on eBay or junk yard. The amp I listed barely fit behind the new stereo. I had it at an angle. My stereo was very shallow though, so I'm not sure if it would fit with a bigger double din stereo. It might.
I don't suppose you have a video showing how to remove and replace the middle panel assembly (77620-S9V-A02ZJ) for a 2005 Honda Pilot? Written instructions I've found, dictate the removal of the center panel first, then the instrument panel, and last is the middle panel. Without any pictures or video to go with those instructions, it may not be something my husband would want to do. Any advice would be much appreciated.
No sorry
My aftermarket is 4 1/4 inches so what kinda should I gets to fit mine?
Very Helpful! Thanks for making this video. I might be replacing my lower 6 disc that is broken for a replacement. Do you know if the Radio code thing will pop up by just replacing the lower unit?
I doubt the changer will prompt it. As long as you don't disconnect the power to the head unit itself.
Do you have video installed radio the same pilot
I need that too
hey was wonder do u need the factory amp n may i ask what are u using for wiring harness n what exactly is the steps
Please link the CD changer replacement part
What about the steering wheel controls? Did you need a separate module for that?
Not with this stereo
Installed radio and now I have no sound. :( 😞
😱😱😱😱😱
Good
Did you use the same stock brackets to hold up the aftermarket stereo ?
No. This new stereo is shallow and does not need the brackets and they wouldn't fit. With a longer aftermarket stereo, you probably could
Thank you for posting this video, are you able to use the factory steering wheel controls for volume?
I am. With a universal android stereo like I used you don't need any additional parts. With most normal aftermarket stereos (Kenwood, Sony, Pioneer, etc.) you need an interface kit.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone , can you provide more details on the connection? I purchased the same items per your list and there is no connection for the steering wheel control. Thank you
@@eddienellis5025 You're going to have to do some of your own digging on this. One of the wires in the factory harness is the steering wheel control wire. It is not pinned on the aftermarket harness so you will have to cut it and splice into it on the factory side of the wiring and tie that to the key 1 wire on the head unit. After that wire is connected you can program the steering wheel controls in the settings or there is actually a program for it on the head unit called steering wheel control
where did you find the storage slot that you replaced for the CD compartment?
eBay. Junkyard part
@@JackofAllMasterofNone also bro, my car anti theft system went off when I tried to remove the car stereo. Do you know how to turn it off I think it’s affect my electrical system lol?
how many inches is the screen?
