@@doityourselfbri hi Bri ive recently came across a wire harness diagram and in one of the connector wires it is labeled as REMO in and REMO out
My question is how to know if i have to connect to my pioneer wire harness
Excellent!
Dude, you saved me. I was just about ready to give up and take my truck to a professional but with your clear, easy to follow directions I was finally able to wire everything my self. Thank you so much for posting your video.
Thank you so much!! I was sold the wrong harness for my honda civic, and out of frustration I randomly decided that I had innate knowledge of wiring harnesses and lopped off the factory harness to hard wire the after market harness onto it. After 3 hours of fiddling and soldering the wrong wires together, I gave up and closed up the garage and hopped on youtube to find this video. The next morning I ran to the nearest hardware store, and got everything wired and setup in an hour. 10/10 would recommend everybody watch this video. Even if you're not wiring a stereo. Like if you're on the toilet and plan on staring at a wall mindlessly for the next 2 hours, i'd recommend you watch this video while you're doing that.
This is absolutely brilliant instructional. Not only do you show how to do something you show why you do something.
Best video on the subject!
Thanks!
I couldn't ask for a more clear and precise description. Thank you. Now I'm off to install my radio!
Thank you, you cleared up a lot off my question and actually just installed my neighbor's touch screen radio because of this video.
You, Sir, are a STAR!! Took out the original factory-fitted radio and was baffled by the number of wires that such a simple piece of kit had. Looked like hundreds of white wires into four different connecter blocks.....what are they all for?
Watched your beautifully made video and it all became crystal clear.
Made the impossible EASY!
Many many thanks.
Im pretty competent on installing these things but was curious enough to look at yours. For anyone reading this who is not sure about installing a car radio, this is one of of the best instructionals I have come across. Plain talk without too much "jargon" and excellent teaching skills here.....10/10 WELL DONE!!!
Thanks So Much!
Truueee that hahhaha
Excellent video. After watching i feel confident enough to install the stereo in my 1988 chevy s10
Do you have to cut the harness or can I just run the wire from it to the radio
100% agree
Wow this video is EXTREMELY helpful. 1st time replacing a factory radio and this answered 90% of my questions. Great video!
I love you, not In a weird way, I spent hours looking for information on this and tgis was the easiest and most helpful

great video. picked up a test light at local auto parts store for under 10 bucks and smooth sailing. Its amazing the features that are on very inexpensive radios today.
i have been looking for weeks for someone to give me the absolute break down and you are the only one to do it. You are awesome!!!
Thanks Brother!!!
2017 tutorial still getting mad love....Maybe one of the most positive comments I've aver seen on a video. That's what RUclips should've been all about...lol. Exemplary!
Outstanding! Your instructional delivery is spot on. If you were a brain surgeon and did a how to video I could fix a lot of people in my family...lol Great job "Bri" Clear and detailed, well done.
12/5/23 timeless video. Very helpful, had half dozen units out in the shop, with your help I've been able to determine just how much of a gold mine I had out there. Thanks.
Good morning sir. Just wanted to say thank you for the information you have provided here. Am currently attempting to install an aftermarket single DIN stereo unit in my car and I entered the project not knowing a single thing about wiring. Am entering day 2 here because I ran out of sunlight. I do not have the adapter harness for my year range so I decided to direct wire the unit to the factory connections, and BOY is this job a headache. I mapped out which wire goes to what thanks to some wiring diagrams I found on RUclips and thanks to your video I think I have obtained the knowledge to finish wiring everything to the new stereo. Hopefully I will complete this by today so I can enjoy music once again and also hoping that nothing was done incorrectly. I appreciate your work here. Thanks.
Great video!!!! It took me days to find it but its the best ive seen so far... great job! You just made a new sub
Wow it really helped me out! Someone who was frustrated with unavailable harness for the vehicle, should watch this. I have successfully installed my aftermarket one. 👍

Great video
Awesome video! There’s a lot of useless content out there but I can see someone who’s looking for guidance really getting it here, good job.
I can say I’m pretty confident to install my next head unit by myself after watching this, thanks for making this informative video!
This video saved me so much money! I can’t thank you enough! I never thought I was really the kind of person who could do these things myself, but it feels so great to learn how.
Nah
A wiring harness addaptor is like 7 $ on Amazon. When u cut it off U make life suck for the future owner.

Yes yes yes yes and YES
Good luck selling your car or trading it in when the old harness is trashed and you want to take your aftermarket radio out to use with your new vehicle.
Tenwalls agreed hands down best install out there!💯🤙
Thank you so much for the fine video and easy to follow instructions. I am hard of hearing (totally deaf in my right ear and have 40% hearing in my left) and the trick with the 9 volt battery for the speakers really helped. Thank you again and keep up the good work.
XStream-Couldn't have said it better. Very clear and concise in its instruction and demonstration. Would recommend this tutorial to anyone wanting to install their own stereo without the use of a harness.
thank you sir, this helped me more than you could ever imagine!
Excellent tutorial, made the installation so much easier!
My install turned out to be easier than I thought since the old radio had a chart on it detailing what every wire was and all I had to do is match to the new radio wiring. I used heat shrink connectors which have a small metal collar in the center that is squeezed and results in a smaller bundle of wires rather than the white crimp cap type. From Amazon also the Kenwood radio caught it on Black Friday sale. Yea! Thanks to this video for heading me in the right direction.
The best video I've seen on how to identify which wires does what. Thanks for taking the time to go step by step!!
Excellent video! Lots of helpful hints.
What if i have to that light up
I wanna say thank you for ur details on this video u are theeee bomb.
Thanks! You rock!😀
Thank you for posting. This is so informative and helpful. Love the video style (simple and clear).
Thanks very much! It's a walk in the park once you see it done once, great tutorial!
This really is a top notch explanation of what each wire is and will still be valuable even when using a harness just to know how things function. No other video has come close to yours in covering this. I can't find the video that details out the steering wheel controls. Did you decide not to make one? If so, please reconsider making one with the same level of detail and explanation you did with this one. Thanks in advance.
I’m strait wiring a jvc radio into a 2000 Toyota Tundra and this is the most helpful thing I’ve found. Keep it up
Just curious how your install went. I'm direct wiring an aftermarket unit myself currently and a small part of me wishes that I had just spent the extra money on an adapter harness.
This job can be a challenge for someone like me who has little experience with electrical stuff.
@@scorpionwins6378 how’d it go lol
@@ThatNoFbody-ch9ky it went well. I looked up a wiring diagram on the internet for my vehicle. Downside is I lost my steering wheel controls but the rest is fine.

It's great to know that you can do this. This just happens to be one of those "is it worth your time" situations.

If you do not own a light tester like he uses to find the constant 12v, and accessory 12v then you can use a volt meter on continuity function and it will make a sound when it completes a circuit. Just connect the red (+) of the voltmeter to the wire, and the black (-) probe to a ground like he did in the video.
.... Thats nice and all.. But if you dont own a test light, chances are you dont own a multimeter. Test light $1. Multimeter $30. Unless you get a freebie from HF.
This video is awesome bro. Thank you for all your work and I also like the fact you have included links to everything. Great great work. Thank you.

Yes yes definitely
What to do if you have three grounds
Soldering and marine heat shrink then wrap makes for a much more reliable wire connection over crimps plus a nice smooth harness when finished. Marine heat shrink has a waterproof glue inside and you get a nice sealed joint every time. Apart from that a great presentation by this guy.
Great video- definitely popped the constant power fuse when I Leroy Jenkins'd the harness plug. That makes sense why the stereo blinks when the key goes on, but doesn't remain on. Great info in your commentary. learned several things. Thanks!
This video is amazing and a life saver. Thanks for not preying on us not having experience and providing the information we need to get it.
Muito bem explicado. thank you from portugal
My 1st lesson and this really helpfull.. Thanks a lots.. Need to find how to wire the swc key1 and key2.. You have you video on this as you mentioned the the end of this video.. Thanks again
Fan fricken tastic! I needed this, now I can get this job done. Best tutorial by far.
Man look at all the love you're getting. Good job brother.
Excellent video. The only thing I would add is that I would label the wires so that I wouldn't have to go through the steps to identify them in future.
Very well done. Thanks!
This video was a huge help! This made a huge headache I had a breeze and I feel pretty confident now! 😁👍🏼
Easily the best, most helpful video ever. Wiring of any sort isn't my strong suit, but usinf this video and a test light I had a new radio installed in my classic Mini in about 2 hours. There was a rat's nest of an old harness, eleventy million inline fuses, and several t- connectors that seemed to go in circles. I cut all of it out and followed these instructions to the letter and the new radio was up and running as soon as I turned it on. Hooray!

Hello. Thanks for this video, it is very good! I followed all steps but I'm not getting any sound on m speakers. I tested the wires using a 9v battery as you showed but nothing happens. The installation is on a western star truck model 4964 year 2006. Do you have any idea of what could be happening? There's no color coding on the wires and the Sony unit I'm installing is working fine! Thanks.
Sounds like you may have a factory amplifier in your car.. What is the year make a model? If you have a factory amp you will need to bypass it or still use it but sometimes you have to have a special interface to make it work or really understand some advanced electrical stuff to make it work..
same issue with my tundra has external amp with 3 wires red, green and blue going nuts with this radio great video thanks
Been ages since the last time I installed a car stereo very helpful video i really appreciate it!!!
Thanks for this informative clip! Helped me with my 2005 Lexus is300 double din install.
I've installed a car stereo here and there back when I was a teen (80's), and this was by far one of the best instructions for doing it yourself - even down to the polarity of the speakers. Many do not know that part and will install great sounding speakers that sound terrible after installed from simply + added to - accidentally.
I have a 1986 Nissan Maxima with factory stereo and speakers still installed. Nothing modern - even the tape deck. The left speakers go in and out (usually over bumps). After being on the plantation (work) all day, I don't always have the time or energy to do it myself, so I'd like anyone's advice on where to start 1st to save me time. Door / rear left speaker or straight to the stereo itself? From limited and old experience, my instinct says check the stereo - since the right side shows no sign of fade....only the left. Thanks in advance to any suggestions.
2 yrs later but I always start with fuses, easiest cheapest thing to check and can save you so much time and money in needless repairs. Then i'd check the deck and then the speakers and last most labour intensive the system wiring. Sometimes animals get in and chew stuff up. You'd be surprised the spaces mice and snakes get into.
@@nyizzle4533 Very true! Animals will destroy wiring. Fuses are good and speakers are new - it must be the stereo. I'd hate to remove any plastic molding at this point (35 year old car) since dry rot is a definite factor. Thanks for the reply & advice!

+Rick Lucero It depends on the year make and model..What is your year make and model
No
Someone may have mentioned before but I'll repeat again. Why not disconnect the battery while cutting wires ?
When hard wiring you need the battery connected to find the power and each speaker
The BEST video so far that I found on the web, concise and clear. Thank you for sharing and more power to your channel.
Outstanding information breakdown of the installation of a radio without a harness.
I watched this while hooking up my new player to my car.
Not a bad video... but to make life easier then this, so the price you will pay for crimper and wire crimps you could just buy a Year/Brand match SCOSCHE install Adapter for $5.99 at Walmart lol ... unless you have Crimping gear kicking around... I personally wouldn't do a Crimp install unless absolutely necessary... in saying that, this guy did do a great job, very clean looking... but... is he just going to leave that big hole?? Scosche also sells Dash Kits, cost about $15.99 at Walmart... it covers up the Hole and Voids that your aftermarket deck may not fill, like this guy... his deck does not fill the factory deck location, as seen in the video... food for thought.
Some adapters still require crimping. The whole point is that if we cared about looks in the first place, then we would have paid for it at the dealership. Most of automotive DIYers spend our money on functionality, not aesthetics.
If your car is ghetto to the point you dont have a factory harness and you are seeking out this video to find out how to rig this as cheap as possible instead of buying one, then you probably dont give a shit about the hole or saving time, because your poor ghetto ass just wants to hear some music as cheap as possible
This is exactly the methodical procedure I needed to figure out the OEM wiring on my tractor. Like an idiot, I cut the factory harness off because i could not get an appropriate adapter for my new deck. Then I forgot which wires were which, and blew the fuses several times by trial and complete error. Thanks.
ive been having trouble understanding other videos h. ut after watching this im definitely going to do this my self thanks bud keep up the good videos
Maybe disconnect the battery to avoid damage when cutting wires..
Then how are you gunna be able to tell if theres power coming from each wire ? 😂
He’s got a point how will you know what wire is constant 12v if there’s no power
Why the heck would you cut off the factory plug on that Honda pilot. that's just dumb. you should have found an old car that had it already gone...
Just for the video, it was only to teach people how to do it if it has been cut.
Obviously Phil wasn't paying enough attention to the video when he watched it, when you clearly said why you're doing it. Too bad he doesn't divert his divided attention elsewhere.
Anyways Brian,
I am having trouble with a 2006 Colorado. I actually have 2 connectors that go to my old radio, one is a 24 and the other a 12. I found the constant, ground, and all speaker, but I cant find the ignition. After cutting all the wires, I tried to turn my truck back on and it never turned over. Now the lights or nothing will turn back on. Any clue?
