My wife just bought my mom’s 2004 Honda pilot with 104k miles on it. She has every service record ever done on the car. She took incredible care of the car it looks a couple years old not 20 years old. Upgrading the stereo and adding a back up camera for my wife. Treating the plastic trim today to make it look brand new
@@bodiejarvis I own a 2005 EX-L with only 76 K miles on it. I'm the original owner so I know the odometer is correct. I also own a 2007 Honda Fit with 240 K miles on it. That's the vehicle I typically use for most of my daily driving.
My grand daughter is looking at one of these from an acquaintance with 110k miles on it for $5k. I am concerned for her. Is this a fair price? She is very nieve.
We have owned several of these cars and have enjoyed each of them. Unfortunately wrecks have killed all but the last one. We currently have a 2007 with over 270k and it is my wife’s daily driver. She had a brand new Kia and basically gave it to our daughter because she wanted to drive the Pilot! It just got new tires today, new front suspension a month or so ago. My next projects are to replace the power steering pump, overhaul the rear suspension, and replace the headlight lenses. We plan to drive it until the wheels fall off and then put them right back on and drive it some more!
thank you! my mom personally has had the car since I was six, for nine years it drove perfect but last year I accidentally got in a minor collision and broke the rod resulting the tire coming off and all that. After the replacement it drive just fine but the steering wheel now is extremely difficult to turn, in replacing it the liquid it all poured right now. Can you do a steering pump replacement video?
Not sure if you have already replaced the power steering pump, but the power steering pump on our '06 Pilot was making noise, saw a video on YT, they said bad O rings are a common cause of this noise. Went to the dealership, spent $6 on two O rings, were easy to install, power steering still feels like new today.
I have a 2004 with 248k. Engine and transmission have been bullet proof. I have had to replace the windshield wiper motor, radiator and alternator recently. After that kind of mileage you have to expect some repairs.
I have an 07 with 212,000. If maintained the engine and transmission are bulletproof. The engine does not use a drop of oil between oil changes. Always use Honda ATF during transmission drain and fill. The rear subframe issue is a concern. Living up North I religiously fluid film that area. It does eat control arms and other suspension parts. I'm on my third ones and used MOOG when I replaced them 2nd time. Suspension parts, an A/C compressor at 100k and a radiator at 110k along with 2 timing belt services have been my only major repair expenses. Runs like a champ though and is my wife's favorite car ever.
I’ve always struggled buying Honda fluids. Valvoline Maxlife fluids are great! Lucas for power steering. Mobil 1 oil, Prestone everywhere else. You’ll be grand.
You should have a million subscribers. Your videos are so helpful. Very precise and easy to understand for the laymen. I am choosing between a used Forester, a RAV 4 and a Honda Pilot. After this video I’m leaning towards the Honda for the cargo space and hauling power as I want to a mini popup camper. Thanks a bunch Miguel !!
7 years ,well designed many trips moving my daughter into college, her driving. This Honda 2006 pilot 174,000 is a powerful pick up on the road I can't say enough about my pilot as others !
own a 06 with 300k miles on it, runs like new. very impressive, comfortable and great for road trips and light off roading. runs and sounds smooth as new.
I have a 2005 Pilot EX-L, 3.5L V-Tec. 170,500 right now. I love this car, it's the first car I've ever fallen in love with. The way it wants to take off when pushing the peddle down is exquisite. Probably one of the best SUVs ever made.
I have an 06 EX-L and on mine the stock air intake cracked so I went with a cold air intake for the 06 Ridgeline (didn’t fit the heat shield so it’s technically a short ram) but it sounds night and day better. Highly recommend 👌🏼
I have had mine for almost 21 years. I bought brand new. Only were front and rear shock absolvers ,front lower control arms and several hoses and sensors replaced last month.
That's a second generation, not a first generation. You can tell by the rear taillights. They're solid red on 1st gen and have the white/silver elements on 2nd gen.
Many things needed to be fixed after 15 years. Honda dealer told me not to buy new ones, because of lots of electrical problems. So stick with old ones.😮😮😮
You make sure the transmission issues been resolved, passenger airbag recalls been serviced, and the timing belts been replaced within the last 1-5 years, there's no reason you buy one with 150k+ miles on it you can't put another 50k-100k with regular service. I'd also keep watch of the wheels and how corroded they are. My '04 honda pilot had corrosion on all 4 wheels when i bought it and the tires would lose 5-10 PSI a week until i got them fixed due to poor sealing. Eventually replaced the wheels and tires with something sportier anyway, but something to keep an eye out for because alloy wheels love to corrode.
you haven't mentioned that these especially early years have transmission/radiator issues. The coolant will mix with your transmission fluid and kill the transmission.
I got mine done for $950 using the Aisin parts. Usually do my own maintenance but didn't want to deal with the hassle. Used a reputable shop my friend has been using for years. 30k miles later (185k total) still going strong.
To much, just got an 05 for 1200 with 184k. New timing belt , radiator, trans service, trans lines done with in 5k miles and it runs great needs some love else where cosmetic wise a/c isn’t cold. Has an exhaust leak needs brakes and sway bar bushings.

How much did the wiper motor, radiator, and alternator cost?
That's it? What about timing belt and water pump?
I conducted all routine maintenance. It now has 263k on it.
Great vehicle.. my parents got 400k miles out of theirs!!! And it was still running fine when they sold it.
Amazing! I'm assuming they bought it new?
@Miguelsgarage what happens if timing belt breaks?
400k miles is incredibly impressive. Wow. I just bought one with like 136k miles.
Im surprise it was still sold with so many miles
I'm looking at to buy one, but it has 198.000 miles on it.
2008.
They want $5000 for it.
What say ye?

Hi now that you been driving ot how is it been reliable??
That's a second generation, not a first generation. You can tell by the rear taillights. They're solid red on 1st gen and have the white/silver elements on 2nd gen.
It's the same generation. This is just a mid cycle face-lift where they make minor updates.
It's the 1.5 gen with the grill updated, other than that it is virtually identical
You sold me on it!!! Thank you for the video🎉

rear subframe rust out and separate from body
Is there a way we can access the third row if theres car seats all over the second row?
6:40 "You can fit eight passengers in this vehicle..." The passengers in the back seat better have really short legs. Just sayin'.
I fit back there 🧐😕🤣
I’m getting a 2006 Honda pilot after I pay off my 2015 Honda crv.
so, basically, I wouldn't buy the car you are driving. The subframe has rusted through already.
