    I’m here watching your video to get a refresher on soap making. I usually make several batches once a year for personal use and Christmas gifts. You have such a calming demeanor and voice. I have my own recipe that I use but I very much appreciate your generosity in sharing your recipes. I started adding yogurt to my soap last year for the first time after watching your video. The yogurt made such an improvement in the fluidity of my soap, the prettiest batches I had ever made, thank you. Also, that clay is fabulous and I hope you can continue to find it for sale in the future.

    I am an experienced hot process soap maker. Yes, keeping everything warm is essential for fluid hot process, and I also have a spritz bottle available of water to keep the top from getting crusty. Glad I've got a nice supply of the red reef clay, I didn't realize they weren't mining it anymore. I doubt I'll need to buy more anyways! A little does go a long way, too much you get stained washcloths. Nice job with the Thieve oil in hot process, it's a seizer in cold process fer sher. Lovely soap!
    ETA as far as 'gooey' goes, the fact that you need a lot of liquid in a hot process batch to keep it fluid is one really good reason why hot process soap needs to cure just as long as cold process. I give all my bars a full 8 weeks, cold process or hot process.

    Hi! I think I've watched all your videos! ❤ I'm brand new to making soap and after watching so many videos, I decided HP was for me. I don't have the patience for waiting on CP to set/saponification. 😂 I think the same! I added my vit E oil at the very end because I believe it will have more of the benefit. Who knows, but it makes sense and sounds good! 😂❤ I also added my EO thinking the same, after the cook, the soap will have the best hope of having the benefits.
    I learned something from you. Add my clays to the oils as they cook. I added those after the cook too and ended up with glops of soap that wouldn't let me smooth it. 😂 I handed it to my child saying, "nevermind that bumpy lumpy part, look at the other part"
    Thank you so much for all you have shared! I've learned so much from you, Ellie, Rhonda and Walnut Creek. It's also so very relaxing to listen to you all. ❤❤

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  2 года назад

      From what I've read the sodium lactate helps keep it fluid at the end so you can swirl, and I just add the SF at the end because that's what I saw other HP makers do... I'm still learning💕

      Super fat at the end let's u control exactly how much precious fats are in the results because unless a scientist who actually knows what percentage of your base oils gets eat up by the lye . If you run your recipe through your soap calc and discount a super fat percentage of 5 (which is standard) who actually knows what percentage of what superfatting oils are destroyed during the process!! That's why I put my recipe superfat percentage in the calc to 0 so I know exactly what I put in stays in the final bar. Also other than yogurt and sodium lactate many people use soy lecithin instead but is a little more sticky! Another interesting thing is actually using whole eggs tempered in at the end which gives fluidity as well plus amazing skin benefits! A soapers journey is always a process of learning and creating which I adore! One woman that I enjoy watching is Kimberly Mcnutt @ essential soap! She's gotten a bad rep from many other fellow soapers but I say if you haven't tried it please don't knock it! She is a cracked up down to earth person! So please give her a watch! Ellen is extremely intuitive and amazing to boot!! Bless my fellow soapers young & experienced!

I did went a bit overboard with the Buttermilk but the lather is WOW! I will use it in my cold process too test more.
