@@joyaghosh2940 I think it’s mostly a personal preference so it depends on what you like! Hot process soap is more gentle to the fragrance so you might need less and you don’t have to worry about acceleration. Hot process can also cut down on cure time (but the soap gets much better as it hardens during the cure)
Hello I’ve been soaping for quite a while and love doing hot process the best however I never heard of using Citric acid before. I like that you explained the chemistry behind it. I will definitely try this recipe. I just make soap for gifts , myself and family. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and recipe❤
I absolutely adore how calming your videos are. Please dont change a thing. Please ignore the complaints. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this video, & i very much enjoyed it for my anxiety. Thank you, so much.
my experience started out with wondering what frankincense and myrrh smelled like. so i bought some on line. and then started making little 3 gram perfume solids. then saw a tutorial on soap making and glycerin soap melt and pour. so i bought some melt and pour and put some essential oils in. and had wanted to mmake my own homemade soap for about six years. then i was finally able to make my own homemade soap. and recently ive tried making my own type of melt and pour. its still a work in progress. but im getting it. i love the easy hot process that you have demonstrated. its not as hard as i thought. ive been wanting to do hot process so when i put the essential oils in they should last longer. cause i cook the soap. excited to try this one type. thank you
Hi Sara, Love this video, such a detailed video, covering each and every part of this method of HP, gonna try it out in a few days. Beautifully and so neatly done. Hugs from India.
Love your style and sense for nature and beauty. Could you please do a liquid soap video? Been trying to get the courage to do a large patch of liquid soap for dishes and hands but had some inertia from what looks like complicated hard work. Lol I’m sure you will have an easy efficient way to do it. Thinking about using your stove stop double boiler method to make the liquid soap. Thank you for sharing.
Do you have more hot process ideas in store? I'm very interested in that method! And as always, I really enjoy all your videos. Such a keen eye and ear, and the education does not come too short at all. Fav soap maker.
You are a soap witch, you have your own charming and inspiring style..My question is which is better to preserve the healing properties of soap by the cold method or the hot method?
just wondering how you came to making soap? I love the whole process of soapmaking, the creating something that can have the ingredients I need for my skin and not other junk in it. It will be 20 years this December, since my journey began into this wonderful field. Thank you again for such soothing video's and sharing your knowledge with others. You are now my new favorite to share with new soap makers.
Thank you for the kind words and thank you for sharing! You definitely have more experience in soap making than me😊 I stumbled upon some article a few years ago that talked about handmade soap. I thought it sounded interesting so I wanted to give it a try. Like you, I love the process and I just never get tired of making soaps and trying out different ingredients.
Is spinach powder okay instead? It's hard to get the dried leaves where I am. Alternatively can I omit the spinach completely? Wonderful gentle video by the way. Appreciate your hard work.

Lovely video , thanks for sharing ,I'm going to try a hot process soap now , at which stage did you ad the citric acid please ? In the lye or at the end of the cook process after its cooled with any essential oils ? Thanks
Thank you for sharing. Where do you get your products for soap making? For hot process, have you ever used a crackpot. This is the first time I've seen soap prepared this way.
Hi there.. why would you cook the soap when it's ready to go into the mold? Is there a difference within the same recipe ...between hot and cold press soap.. thank you.
Cold process and hot process recipes are similar, you just need more water for hot process. And the process is very similar except hot process soap is cooked :)
The biggest difference is you need to cure cold process soap (usually 4-6 weeks) so you can't use the soap immediately. However, hot process soap is already done the chemical reaction while the cooking, you can use the soap as soon as it hardened(mostly next day or 2 sometime longer depends on recipe)
Hot process goes through saponification faster because of the heat and is usually ready to cut quickly. Both cold process and hot process soaps need the same amount of curing. i.e 4-6 weeks
@@SuffuseSoaps That’s up for a debate and many disagree that HP and CP cure the same way because they really don’t. HP one just gets more benefit by not dissolving as fast as the next day HP version, but CP won’t even bubble up really well the same way after two weeks the way HP soaps do. They’re not the same.
@@SuffuseSoaps then why go through the bother with the process of HP if it still needs to cure 4-6 weeks? Literally nobody I know waits 4-6 weeks on there HP soap, it's on the shelf in 48-72 hours. The benefits of the extra exertion is a faster production to sales ratio. Storage costs money, as in time, space.
Thank you! You don't really have to check it that much, I just wanted to show you my temperatures. I like to try to keep it around 70 degrees celsius while the soap is cooking
Wow ! Just made this ! My first HP. I didnt have any spinach , so I tried making nettle tea and used it with lye and used eucalyptus es. oil for fragrance and added 1 tsp of yogurt after cook . Cooking took maybe 30 minutes ? Tested little piece - beautiful lather . Thank you !
Very interesting! I'm thinking of trying your method. Have you done it and added the superfat, etc. after cooking it like in 'normal' hot process? I want to make my first milk and honey soap and wonder if I could add it after it gels to keep it fluid and preserve the benefits of the honey. Thanks
I just love watching you soap, so relaxing! Such an interesting way to HP. I've always did it in a crockpot but may have to give that a try sometimes. As always, your soap always turns out beautiful!
