I had stopped making soap and our body products because the kids had gotten older so they didn’t use my products anymore. But I saw you on my timeline and said I can use some soap. And I didn’t want to wait 4 weeks. So here I am because you were my teacher when I started. No need to change a good thing ❤

I'm SO glad to see you doing HP soap. I love making it. While it has benefits, it also has challenges and you NAILED it, my friend. Please do more! I've also found (so has the soapqueen) that adding sodium lactate at then END of the cook helps with fluidity. I also keep the "bad boy" fragrances for hot process because acceleration, seizing and ricing are not problems with HP soap. Further, you will never have glycerine rivers or soda ash with HP soap. Awesome job, soapy sister!

I so agree about soapers being encouraging to one another, and I love it! Sometimes I feel like we're friends even though I don't really talk to anybody in the soaping community. A bit silly, I suppose, but I love watching the videos and feeling the love of the art really come through. The soap turned out quite lovely as always.

Started making cold process and rarely will make CP now, but love HP. No acceleration, ricing, glycerin rivers, soda ash.... absolutely loooove it. I should add that I don't sell my soap. I just love making it (addicted) and I gift it mostly to appreciative neighbors, friends and family and that's the only soap my family & I use. You did great (but, of course you did)! Thank you for sharing your first time. There's not enough HP videos out there and there is always something new to learn. ; )

You did a beautiful job making your first batch of HP soap. I started off making HP, and I prefer the rustic look. I also like the fact that the scents don’t fade like I’ve experienced with CP soaps. I truly enjoy watching your videos. I got interested in soaping about 8 years ago. I did a lot of research before diving into it. I was so afraid to work with lye, so I started off with melt and pour. Once I felt comfortable enough, I started making HP, and then CP. I love the soaping community. Everyone is very nice, and always eager to answer your questions. :)

Hi Ellen, I just wanted to make a note that if you decide to make HP soap a lot, I've found this solution to be a better judge of PH. 1% Phenolphthalein. You can purchase it from Amazon and what you do is take a tiny bit of the batter and put one drop directly onto the soap. If it changes color AT ALL you know the ph is off. The strips are great but this "In My Opinion" is better. Just wanted to let you know what I've found. Again, Beautifully done, it looks amazing.

I am still brand new to soapmaking. I love working with Cole process and bringing in some elements of melt and pour for size and the one thing that always amazes me because to me it’s like magic is when the oils are blended together and if you don’t color them they have a certain hue .... Whether it’s a little on the green side or a little on the yellowish side and when you’re doing hot process I always think it looks like applesauce but then 24 hours later he got white soap! Chemistry and magic I love it. And the soap came out beautiful! I can only hope and pray that my First attempt at things come out it’s successfully as this did ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Ellen Ruth: You are so fun to watch. It's too bad you can't block those who are negative. Unfortunately that is the world we live in. I think people are jealous of other's success. Just let it go; the mean spirit they carry is their burden, nor yours Keep up the good work. Cathi

Thanks for sharing, lovely soap. I make both cp and hp, my customers like the cp because it is prettier but I like using the hp soap. I make hp soaps when the fo doesn’t play nice in my cp!

Thanks! Yes, that was one of my main motivations for trying this, is so I can use some pesky F.O.'s that don't play well in CP😉

It's been a yr so late to the party. Anyway, often communities have have to do with hobbies usually are pretty good, though there can be pockets of negativity anywhere. Also, this was actually what I needed. I just learned about this. I needed to make soap fast for x-mas presents, just made my first batch today but it's in a week and can't wait for it to cure. I looked up and found hot process but was worried I can't make it look nice, until I saw this. Blown away!

Well Ellen, I take my hat off to you, as this was your first HP soap you really hit the spot - and you were daring to add a swirl ! 👏 Even after years of soaping I have not been able to make friends with HP soap - I only use it if I really have to rebatch. However, you inspired me to give this another try, watching the temp, plus choice additives to maintain fluidity and avoid common CP soap problems.
Regarding the Thieves oil, I found an excellent combination product of 'Thieves' at Wellington Fragrances. No more figuring percentages.

Hi Ellen! Just wanted to stop by and say I love your videos and your soaps! Your videos are informative and easy to follow, they also satisfy my OCD because you are so conscious with cleanliness ! I cringe when watching other videos and they make such a mess! Lol I just received my 2nd soap order from you about a week ago and I want to say how much I really love your soaps. The scents are amazing, your packaging is lovely, and shipping is fast! I have purchased handmade soaps from probably 5 or 6 soapers and yours is by far my favorite! Thanks again for what you do and keep up the great work! Tamekia ☺️
