I use Kokum Butter all the time!! I use it instead of Cocoa Butter, when I use it. Some of my customers love it when I use it, because of their dry skin. I hardly feel the difference, but they say they do. I do a Camomile infusion for one of my salves and I agree with the smell. It is very nice. Your soap is going to be awesome for the skin!
I have never had any soaping issues with Cocoa Butter Cashmere. It is one of my best seller fragrances.
    Thanks for bringing us along.
    Cheers 🤗👍

An increase in the percentage of coconut oil will dry the skin

    • @garyyoung2423

You're right about too much coconut oil drying sensitive skin but you can decrease the coconut oil in any recipe or up the super fat. Try it either way and let us know how it comes out! We are an eczema family so always trying new things but managing gut health and food allergies has been the biggest help.

Hi Ellen… so I made this soap and followed this recipe except I had to sub in mango and Shea for the Kokum and cupaucau and I ran my fragrance through the calculator. When I unmolded it is semi firm and I cut a couple of small bars to test out and there were droplets of oil inside…. It did seem to trace well and set up very good in the mold. What are some possible reasons that this happened or do I need to let it sit longer before I cut the rest of the loaf? Thanks for any troubleshooting tips you may be able to help with. Thank you!

If you changed any of the oils or butters, you'd need to run the numbers thru soap calc, to make sure the ratio is correct. I would do a pH test and see.

Hi Ellen… I don’t have the Kokum or cupuacu butters… to make this a similar luxury soap are there other butters that you would recommend? I have Shea and mango but just thought I’d ask what you might recommend… Thanks very much

Hi again, my soap is still soft after about 2 months, can I rebatch it?

    • @EllenRuthSoap

I would do a pH test and make sure it's not off, then you can rebatch and add more sodium lactate.

TFS…why the deodorized cocoa butter rather than regular cocoa butter? I love love love the fragrance, so if it’s deodorized isn’t something taken out? 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️

Normally I use natural cocoa butter (I love the scent), but this was what they sent me to work with. And it's wonderful, with a neutral scent.

I think I would go with “Koopa-wasu” because it is a Brazilian butter. Guessing from the pronunciation of cachaça. That’s my two cents.

How do you pronounce Cupuacu in English?
// coo-pwah-soo or coo-pwah-coo the second c has the little squiggly line (Cupuaçu ) at the bottom which make an 's' sound
