@amyx231 that makes sense. What I've done in the past is use an acrylic medium from the craft store to add the texture and buildability I wanted. It's an experimental process and not necessarily cheaper but as it's not precoloured it's a bit more versatile.

The "resist" is just an expensive version of armorall tire foam spray because it is made with silicone which is hydrophobic and designed to repell water and dirt from the road to keep the car tires looking clean and shiny. It's also really good to use over finished sidewalk chalk drawings because it makes the chalk not wash away in the rain until the silicone spray wears off the surface. This sidewalk in rain invisible graffiti art was done YEARSSSS ago all over the sidewalks of new york.
honestly, the water-soluble paper seems like it would be fun in conjunction with the gaffrey heavy body paints. like, using it as a backdrop or a blueprint while you work with the paint (which almost seems more like squishier modeling clay than paint) and then once the paint's completely dry, washing away the paper and leaving behind just the paint. (also, i have to wonder how the paper would react to the resist spray) god 4.0 looks so GOOD. i mean, i've been here since black 1.0 but even from just video, it's pretty clear that 4.0's formula is just. chef kiss. and those watercolors are so gorgeous i don't even have words

Idea for a helpful series. Id love it if you did a series where each video was a product guide for a different medium. For example a watercolor video would have suggestions for paper, pencils, paint, other tools, hacks, the erasor primer liquid thing in this video etc.
Working with a new medium is so humbling. When I use markers and pencils, I can make it look like a painting. When I use paint, I struggle to make it look like it wasn’t painted by a 5-year-old.
I haven't had one of your videos on my page in a while and I'm so happy it popped up. You also made me wanna go do some fun art and I haven't drawn/painted anything in like a year😅. Happy holidays
If you use a can of tire shine (the aerosol spray that makes tires shine after you wash your car) it has the same effect on sidewalks as “resist” and last for a looooooooong time. I didn’t think it would work and I sprayed “hi :)” on my sidewalk and it resisted the water for at least two years!

Would love to see the gaffrey paint making flowers, rocks, shells, mountains and trees! It is perfect for that sort of thing.
Gaffrey has their own YT video channel and it's awesome to watch! Thanks for alllll these demos :)
I’ve been using the Iuile watercolors for years and absolutely love them. Fantastic on black watercolor paper especially around the holidays.
I'm just wondering can I get them on amazon thanks
@@jennycooke1795 search for Iuile watercolors & they should pop up there for ya.
honestly, the water-soluble paper seems like it would be fun in conjunction with the gaffrey heavy body paints. like, using it as a backdrop or a blueprint while you work with the paint (which almost seems more like squishier modeling clay than paint) and then once the paint's completely dry, washing away the paper and leaving behind just the paint. (also, i have to wonder how the paper would react to the resist spray)
god 4.0 looks so GOOD. i mean, i've been here since black 1.0 but even from just video, it's pretty clear that 4.0's formula is just. chef kiss.
and those watercolors are so gorgeous i don't even have words
That actually looks like it would be good for abstract work with a pallet knife!
Might have to get some and experiment
Thank you for showing us these products😎👍 I am not able to paint much anymore, so watching your video is so fun for me.
if you want more control on your thick paint use piping bag and tips and twist the middle of your bag
When I saw the watercolor palette on the thumbnail I immediately recognized it as Iuile watercolors. They're absolutely amazing!! I wish I could order more from them, but shipping is sooo expensive to the EU 😢
Justin Gaffrey is a painter from Seaside, FL where I used to live. He was a pastry artist (did cake decorating) before he got into working with acrylics. His paintings use cake decorating materials like piping bags and pallette kinves, its beautifully thicc. You gotta see his art.
Because of you I am great at art I am now selling it and I tried make mona lisa and a person bought it thank youuuuuuuuu so much you really helped me thanks ❤❤🎉
Glass artist here, so I don’t do much standard art type work. But lot’s of varied “crafting” stuff along with the glass. There were truly a couple never heard of items here, bravo. NEW SUBSCRIBER.
I have heard of Counter Culture and LOVE their glow products (man do those guys GLOW). I also love the whole back story on the black.
I love gaffrey! Theyre local to me and the family who runs it is so nice! Its definitely a learning curve for the paint tho
The ending of 2024 sucked. I lost my stepmom a few days ago and yes I can agree. This year kinda sucked and wore me out. Hope y’all have a great new year and keep spending time with loved ones bc you never know if a cough, is just a cough.
Have no idea how much I needed a new rae video to help my nerves relax today talk about PERFECT Timing for new upload!!! ❤
4:17 I would use the dissolving paper when I wanted a shape cut out that is difficult with an exacto knife. I’d use wax to block the water from dissolving the parts I wanted & let the rest float away. Happy New Year Rae, I hope we have a better year too 🤞🏻
You’re back again yay we missed you posting videos!
Interesting stuff, as always.
So uh... how many decades does that super-thick paint need to completely dry/solidify? 😬
Idea for a helpful series. Id love it if you did a series where each video was a product guide for a different medium. For example a watercolor video would have suggestions for paper, pencils, paint, other tools, hacks, the erasor primer liquid thing in this video etc.
5:55 that's so accurate 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Working with a new medium is so humbling. When I use markers and pencils, I can make it look like a painting. When I use paint, I struggle to make it look like it wasn’t painted by a 5-year-old.
I still get so so happy when you post! I've been watching your videos since 2017 🥰
My day gets better every time you post! Your videos are so amazing and fun!😀
OMG!! I would love to see a full vid on those gaffey paints! Im sure past the learning curve it becomes second nature
YASSSS THE ART QUEEN HAS POSTEDDDDDD
Your videos are always entertaining to watch!

Yess
I haven't had one of your videos on my page in a while and I'm so happy it popped up. You also made me wanna go do some fun art and I haven't drawn/painted anything in like a year😅. Happy holidays
If you use a can of tire shine (the aerosol spray that makes tires shine after you wash your car) it has the same effect on sidewalks as “resist” and last for a looooooooong time. I didn’t think it would work and I sprayed “hi :)” on my sidewalk and it resisted the water for at least two years!
RAEEEE you have been giving us Christmas presents all month!!! 😃
I now want that watercolor palette!!
Posted 18 seconds ago-honored? The chosen one? I’m not sure but I sure do feel lucky
Idk but I want to eat the thick paint.
I love my dissolving embroidery paper ❤
I just wanted to let you know that you are an inspiration for me. I love your personality and your videos! Everything is so fun and interesting. I started watching your channel 6 years ago and I really hope that you will continue posting more videos many years to come 🥰
Gorgeous watercolors
1:32 Rae , you should , you definitely should.
Five ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ video! I loved the very heavy body paint! Can you put pastry tips on the bag to create different piped designs???
Your art should be in a museum 😮
always so nice to see you Rae!
I love your content, happy to see a new video
I've actually been to the studio of the artist behind the Gaffrey paint. They have some pretty cool pieces there! You can use it with regular acrylic to make different shades and colors. You're not limited to just what you get in the order with those paints, color wise.
you're my comfort youtuber
i love your videos! keep up the good work :)
The little water color balls were pretty neat and your painting was dope af
The watercolor palette is so pretty where did you purchase it? Im a new subscriber im so happy to watch you !! ❤️ This video made my night!
Ma'am...busting out that furry fan to dry the watercolor was so extra and u absolutely know it 😂
Yoooo I love these videos, when I first got serious about art about five-six years ago you were one of my favorite artists to watch.
I always love it when you post. :]
The dissolvable paper is used for embroidery. Also, gaffrey has kits. I tried one and it turned out pretty cool. Made some cool flowers on a canvas. They send piping bags and everything.
you can use dissolvable sheets to transfer pictures or make your own paper soap sheets
That glitter paint was the absolute best ❤
I need that paint set!😍
I literally have been your biggest fan forever!!! Keep going you’re awesome❤❤❤❤
Love the sparkling paint but have only used Colicolours before x
What lipcolor do you use? It looks amazing❤️
Dissolvable paper is used as a support for various projects while they’re being made - when another kind of support / base plate would be impossible or impractical - like tight spaces.
