Amazon is super weird about sellers selling things. So if the item is possibly opened, they can’t sell it as new even if it was never used. So some of these “like new” items are probably brand new with minor defects in packaging from the third party seller. Like new in package video games, even if the plastic is barely open or ripped on a corner, most sellers sell them as “like new” so they don’t get dinged by the buyers or amazon for saying it was new
Brick and mortar stores can have the same policy. I once got a brand new PS4 controller sold to me at a steep discount from a games store because the packaging was damaged, and that meant they were unable to sell it as new.
I once got a high end Sailor Mercury figure at a big discount from the like new category on Amazon. Turned out it was never opened at all because the og owner returned it due to being anal over a tiny defect on one of the tiaras (it’s one of those figures with the multiple heads/faces) that most won’t notice unless their face is like uncomfortable levels of up close like to Mercury’s face.
It's really strange, I bought a used Kindle on Amazon from a third party. It listed that it was in not great cosmetic condition, and only cost me $30. Took a gamble, got a perfectly working kindle with a few small scuffs up the back case that buffed out. Still works swell 3 years later lol.

eBay and Mercari are my go to. Mercari is generally cheaper. Check seller reviews first, make sure you can’t find the same image somewhere else and if it’s got a white background and looks like it was swiped off Amazon, generally don’t buy it.
I buy from the Amazon warehouse a lot. I found that if you click on the list of all of the sellers you can read a description under each listing of the condition. They will sometimes even tell you what is missing and if there is any damage and where it might be on the item. It definitely helps in deciding if it is worth the risk. I think a lot of the items are not actually used but have some damage to the packaging from shipping and storage at the warehouse.
Yup when buying books sometimes it will say if its a library book unfortunately not all sellers are honest and add in description the issues, they just copy and paste their may have markings stickers blah blah
@nicole_silvers I buy from Amazon Japan all the time. I usually receive my order in about 3 days! Sometimes, it is faster than things I have ordered with prime shipping from the USA.

Just to clarify, the used products are not necessarily returns. Sellers can mark them as used in some categories. If you look at the listing it should tell you who the seller is. If it's from Amazon warehouse deals, those may be returns but more often than not, they were inventory from a third party seller that was either damaged or previously lost in the warehouse(and later found). It's so amazing to me (as a German) that people are so amazed and for us they're just a normal everyday thing. There's even a thing in German schools where people pick them up from floors or "steal" them from other students because everyone has them and constantly loose them because they're just so common.

The yellow gauche is open! When you did the close up, you can see it's open!
Girl let me tell you, stabilo fine liners are the best. I bought mine in 2012 and not a single one is dried out yet! I own all their highlighters too, some I bought as far back as 2009. Really the best investment I've made in Stationary!
It's so amazing to me (as a German) that people are so amazed and for us they're just a normal everyday thing. There's even a thing in German schools where people pick them up from floors or "steal" them from other students because everyone has them and constantly loose them because they're just so common.
I used to get them from art shops and my mom's college bookstore as a kid in the 80s, they were a trend and they only cost like 49 cents. Now I prefer micron pens because the ink is waterproof but I have a soft spot for all Stabilo
YOUR AT 1.99 MILLION GIRL
I HAVE BEEN WITH YOU BEFORE YOU HAD 1 MIL ❤❤
LOVE YOU RAE
It looks like the yellow gouache was opened, you are indeed quite lucky it didn’t run out!
Ur amazing. I've been watching u since my granddaughter used to watch you when she was about 5 years old. Now I luv watching ur videos and all ur help. 💕🙏🇨🇦
By 3:10 you had said ‘literally’ 7 times. That’s 7 times too many.
I wish the drawing/painting parts of your videos are a little bit longer. I really enjoy your channel.
Amazon said “quality at a discount”
Congrats on 2m followers, and I’m glad to be one of them. Just recently found your channel and I’ve already watch tons of them. Your content is super cool, so relaxing, fun and inspiring (although I am not an artist like whatsoever at all). Thank you!
can we appreciate her metallica shirt and her amazing personality
Awesome! Thank you for showing us this. An additional way to spend my money at Amazon.
Hi Rae, love your videos! Was wondering if you’ve ever run into the brand MondoLlama from target? They’ve got a crap ton of supplies they make like alcohol markers and acrylic paint! Would be cool to see you review them ^_^.
CONGRATULATIONS ON 2MIL RAE❤❤❤ WE LOVE YOU!!!
6:15 Is the yellow open? Maybe thats why?
Omg Rae you are so close to 2 million subscribers I love your channel
I sent back a set of oil pastels that I hadn’t even opened the delivery box more than a tiny cut to slip the return paperwork in, wonder if someone got a good bargain on that . I ordered a set of 72 Paul Rubin’s thinking it was new colours not just the same colours from smaller sets mashed together. Before it was even out for delivery I found out some colours had been renamed in English to confuse me and I in fact already had the complete collection, this what you get for midnight buying spree’s when you don’t do proper research 😂.
I've seen people buy pallets of returns! I wonder if you could find one of art supplies? Anyway, loved the video ❤️
I’ve done the liquidations at Amazon. Those pallets are a mix of whatever has to go.
@@amberarnold3734 I guess it's from other places where I've seen people order pallets with specific themes like makeup
6:19 the yellow gouache in the middle, looked like the seal was completely up. You could see the paint inside.
7:22 they didn’t think to clean it? Gross.
Congrats for 2 million 🎉🎉❤
I bought a 8x10 block of arches used off Amazon for $15 and when it came it was 12x16 with very little damage. So a $60 block of paper for $15
I buy the returned stuff from Amazon all the time! I always go with "like new", "good" and even "acceptable". You can rarely tell it's been used and I hardly ever have any problems and you save a HECK of a lot of money!
How to order those returned products..Idk how
Literally, literally, literally ...
😂 ahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahhaaahahahahahahaahhh😂
I tend to buy mostly secound, "damaged" or "package open", things are usually in almost perfect condition with some hits on the box and at it worst, you'll be missing a small thing that's actually cheaper than how much you saved in the first place.
take a shot for every time she says literally
Rea you are one of my favorites but the way you say literally cracks me up lol
Why does buying returned items sound fun though💀 idk why
Only if you wanna risk wasting your money 😭
I'm literally so glad you literally put a new video out! Literally! But for real; yay 🥰
Literally yeah! 😂
Imagine being that person who had the audacity to return something they they took bits out and used clearly a fair amount 🙃🙃
