I keep my eggshells in a bag, until it gets full. Then I crush them and use the spiky shells around my veggie plants to deter snails, or put them in the compost. I had to move the bag up higher, though, because our 6 month old yellow lab was stealing and eating them. Not joking, he did this repeatedly. He eats the funniest stuff. When he was younger, I’d feed him mild peppers right off the plant, and he’d steal them from my harvest basket. Just a hungry boy, I guess.
I find the whole tech thing so annoying because I truly and intensely hate the people making the products. My phone is breaking down so I think I'll get that fair phone because apparently less slave labor and so on. I'm starting a new job and I think they'll give me a Mac. It'll probably be fine to get the job done. But I'll hate it. Everything moving to subscriptions, nothing built to last, fighting the right to repair. I just wish I didn't have to contribute to the wealth of these disgusting ghouls. I miss liking computers and games and stuff.
Same, it was nice when games and the world in general had a sense of progress. Now games are just how the world operates for most at this point, play a battle royale, spend money on skins and garbage, but never actually make any type of progress in the game, no matter how much time is sunk. Same thing as getting up to go to work and do it all over again for the masses that don't question if that is the best way for them to live, never making any real progress except for someone else.
All that slave labor and the phone is still too damn expensive. Maybe if we used enslaved people as the CFO and CEO it could cut down on the price tag for consumers.
Not necessarily. Hindu Sadhus are lone wander monks, sometimes together in groups or asheams, some very isolated in nature. Some christian monks do have "Klausen" (Karthäuser for example). Secluded sheds of isolated worship. Buddha wandered alone, leaving home if I remember correctly to find enlightenment under a tree.
Tomatoes and eggs and rice are actually in a lot of cultures' breakfast foods, believe it or not. Using ketchup to enhance the tomato flavor is pretty common in those dishes, too.
I really enjoy these videos. I'm agoraphobic and haven't been able to really take care of myself, but watching someone doing stuff to be better in a reasonable way is nice. Having someone do exercises that I can do in my office has been helpful.

White vinegar, black soap, citrus and baking soda; those 4 can do so much of the house cleaning and avoid buying a ton of products (Grandma's tips are real powerful)
walking has helped my insomnia so much! my insomnia is horrible, very medication resistant and i'm not generally into other daily exercise. I walk around as much as I can during my day, but what I consistently do is take a walk at night when it's dark. forces my brain to understand it is nighttime and it's very serene and calm outside. I recommend trying it with no music- there's a lot of nice noises at night to find peace in
I know you probably tried everything in the world. So just my experience: I have orange lightbulbs in the bedroom. They are so warm coloured, I can only read about 5 minutes and my eyes get tired. It somehow tells my brain "uuuhh sunset! Sleepy time!". Maybe worth a try!
There IS convincing people off of mac, I'm one of them! Louis Rossman's videos about how apple blames the customer for years and then finally admits it was their fault was a huge motivator for me. I'm on PC with linux now. I did try Windows but everything has to be internet-connected to the point where using the right-click menu has a delay, I couldn't handle that shit
Fuck man, I've been through some hard time, and this channel really helps me to keep going, so raw and honest, it acctually motivates me to do something.

i was a mac person until i started gaming but for doing creative work there's just something sooo intuitive and easy about the mac trackpad that's just unmatched by everything else
Mm, that point really resonated with me, I recently cut off friends because of major drug problems (half of them are now in rehab 😭) but that's such an extreme example! And I didn't break ties out of disgust or need for personal gain, they are all still wonderful people who I'd love to hang out with again if they got better.
I actually enjoyed the little tech rant. I grew up being a total tech nerd in the early youtube days. There was a guy named tysiphonehelp back then who also had a “tystech” channel that I learned a lot from & began geeking over computer related things and was a huge mac advocate over the windows people back then.
I'm binging your videos rn, so far I cleaned the floor a bit, did some more cleaning of the oven (it's a long term project) and now I'm going to get my package and then go for a run and make myself some good dinner. thank you ❤

As a practicing buddhist the self help "monk mode" is actually closer to the christian ideal of self flagialtion, self denial and the protestant work ethic than any actual karmic practice.
Thanks to *Made with Lau*, we bought a wok and have been doing a lot of fun dishes in it. Sure, a lot of them are fried in oil, but it's remarkable how different they come out than just frying it in a heavy bottom frying pan. Kids proclaim most of them "the best thing ever, make this again tomorrow".
Hey I just want you to know that I listen to the sadboyz podcast a lot because they often talk about their adhd meds and its something that I struggle with a lot. Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one struggling with this stuff so I just wanted to thank you for sharing your experience with it also
Caveat: I am not a Marie Kondo stan and do not support the entire cult/retail empire surrounding her. That said, I did find her book The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up extremely helpful. It was greatly misrepresented by the Netflix show and in the general consciousness in that it doesn't advocate getting rid of anything. The core of the book is to go through your stuff and ask yourself if it serves a purpose and/or brings joy. It's about questioning a consumerist mindset that continually accumulates things, like that ocean garbage patch. Like I say, the book was what it was, and I found it helpful. I know you were just doing a funny riff, so I'm not saying this out of offense, just offering some information that tends to get lost. ♥
I watched the show and found her advice and techniques very helpful. Genuinely curious, in the book if something doesn't bring you joy or serve a purpose what do you do with it besides remove it from your life? As someone who felt deeply, emotionally obligated by a lot of the things I was holding onto, I really found her technique of thanking the object for it's place and service to my life before letting it go very healing and freeing. I watched it years ago, at this point, so maybe I'm just not remembering something, but I liked it and still find that gratitude practice helpful.
@@T.Florenz Part of the issue in the show, as I recall, was that the drama was being heightened for an audience in ways that the book was not. That's not to say that the show was unhelpful, or that it was entirely different. It also seems to have broadly generated a takeaway of 'get rid of everything, no matter what' that simply wasn't there, and that I don't understand. That's also not to say the book is better. From what I understand, the show became a launching point for a line of organizational products, and 'guru' style talks.
You can use the eggshells, grind them up in a fine powder with a coffee grinder machine or I guess a pestle and mortar (dpepending on how hard you wanna go GO HARD!) then choose a smoothie or drink you wanna make and put the powdered eggshells with it. The eggshells are full of calcium and strengthen your teeth! It fixes the enamel!
Monk mode usually refers to cutting out all distractions. Cutting out all the chatter. Cutting out all the free dopamine. Coming back 6 months later a new person.
good morning everyone, just finished making eggs on my new cast iron. they take a while to preheat but they hold heat super well. one of them is a ‘spinner’ though so it doesn’t make good contact. i’m taking it as a sign though that i should make pizza in it instead.
Hey Noah, on push ups or really any kind of push or pull workout, I always try to apply pressure against the muscle for a 4 count, and then explode to the near rest So like, 4 seconds down on a push up to make the yitties start twitching, then explode up to your locked arm position. And don't cut yourself short! Go down deep!
A lot of peoples frustrations about tech can be answered by more support for Linux. And I wouldn't ask people here to switch, but. If you're feeling like you can manage it, you can take a look at the world of ethically produced free open source software
as someone with both an epic gamer windows pc set up and a macbook, I think there’s pros and cons to both. I 100% agree that mac is extremely convenient when you’re dealing with people who own apple products. I use it mostly for school and work, along with my ipad, and having the ability to easily move my work between those devices is super efficient and convenient. however, I love me some games so my PC is great for that. it also worked nicely for productivity when I was stuck at home during quarantine and had no where to go, but now that I’m mobile everyday again, the mac + ipad duo is really nice. I also switched from android to iphone so it definitely makes everything more convenient. I miss many windows features on my mac tho.
Have you seen Century of the Self? It's a series from 2002 that might be of interest. It goes over the history of manufactured desire that was pioneered by Freud's nephew using his uncle's work to create the foundation of product marketing.

The simplified answer to your question regarding monk mode is trauma. People don't know if being in the relationships they are is even healthy for them, so they burn their bridges to find ones where they can practice their core values. Some people are unlucky to be born into families where they cannot be themselves. So they have to find another circle or else they're spirit is going to be crushed.

the egg shells also help encourage earth worms to reproduce if they eat them!!
