I have a Lenovo IdeaPad despite I have a very wide choice of Macs, PCs, Linux, iPad, Android phone at home. It was very well priced, is a Tablet with detachable keyboard/cover-prop. The keyboard is surprisingly good as is the trackpad. I principally use it as an eReader as the tablet is light and quite readable. There are problems with the software and it can be clumsy to download and open files offline, but after a struggle I get there and then reading is fine. I would like to make more use of the IdeaPad for Audio/Video/Music plus basic lightweight productivity and creative work. That is where I struggle because the choice of software is not great, nor is file transfer/connectivity.
Chromebooks can be less expensive than similar performance Windows machines because the OS is lighter and so needs fewer resources. But spec for spec Chromebooks are often more expensive (smaller market?) . Chromebooks need less storage because they are designed to use mainly cloud storage. Chromebooks are often made for school use and so are rugged. Chromebooks can run linux and android apps. So I can use the same android apps on phone and chromebook. Power is not a problem on Chromebooks. But power apps often made for windows. For me the biggest limitation is that Chromebooks cannot run MS Offfice, in particular MS Access,
For me it is the lack of quality equivalents to Mac software and the erratic support for offline work. Plus the struggle with opening and transferring files.
I hate microsoft products. Horrible.. Adobe is bloated crap. I see adobe? Delete delete delete! Been using computers since 1992.. bought a macbook pro "wallet dipper" to get away from windoze.. More shitbook.. Looking at chromebook.
