    i ve moved from windows to ChromeOS two years ago and never looked back. The OS is a level above the windows buggy mess. Fast, fully secure, fully integrated with my android phone, bug free with seamless upgrages without the need to wait for the software to be installed, truly next level. As for software it runs all my business apps and If I need something realy specialized with the press of a button I can use Linux.

      Nah. It really depends on what Chromebook you get. The low end devices are painfully slow. I do agree about the software updates. Those are generally quick.

      @@JJFlores197 I agree, some of the low end laptops have painfully slow/old processors. I would always choose something in the 400-600USD range.

      @@FCisThePunisher Yes. I work in K-12 IT. The old Chromebooks that were purchased at my district 8+ years ago were painfully slow even when they were new. That's generally why a lot of people, especially school age kids dislike Chromebooks. They have a bad experience with them at school where even logging in can take more than a minute, then minutes to load the school login portal.

    Why do schools push Chromebooks so hard? They limit students.

    • @JJFlores197
      @JJFlores197 5 месяцев назад +4

      Not to play devil's advocate, but Chromebooks are easy to setup and manage from an IT perspective. I work in K-12 IT and we have over 15k Chromebooks. We can very quickly setup and deploy Chromebooks. With Windows devices, it usually would take more than 20 minutes per device to re-image and run all updates and patches. Most of the work students do is web-based so a Chromebook works well in those situations.
      And plus in the US, we're required to install some sort of content filtering system to comply with E-Rate funding regulations. With Chromebooks, we can quickly install an extension that satisfies that need. And the devices are more locked down so it makes it more difficult for kids to try to watch inappropriate videos in class; yes kids have tried to watch fury pron on their school computer.

      Rubbish I ve using both high end windows (surface pro) and high end ChromeOS (pixel book go) and they shit all over the Windows. Fully secure, fast, integrated to my android phone, bug free, I wouldn't go back to a windows laptop even if you were paying me. As for software I run all my business apps easily and if I need something really specialized with the press of one button I have full Linux access.

    • @underconfident_asmr
      @underconfident_asmr 6 месяцев назад

      Wrong. In the hands of someone educated in the land of Linux, you have the full fat Debian repository (plus access to Snap and Flatpak), plus Android, plus the ChromeOS stuff. You literally have three operating platforms on one device. How tf is that bad? These aren't the cheap, locked down nearly useless garbage that schools buy. Of course, all Windows users know is Windows, and think a "real computer" is a gaming PC.

    • @JJFlores197
      @JJFlores197 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@underconfident_asmr Most people aren't educated in the land of Linux though. I can personally assure you that most people who use Chromebooks (excluding power users) have literally no idea what Linux is.

    • @underconfident_asmr
      @underconfident_asmr 5 месяцев назад

      @@JJFlores197 I don't know as to what scale that really goes at this point though on the average I tend to agree, but that does not make anything in that guy's original comment valid, not that it made any line of logic in the first place. My best guess is it's someone who was forced to use one of the locked down cheapshat units schools tend to buy, OR someone who was a little like me and never knew what a powerhouse a decent spec'd Chromebook really is until you actually use one. In fact, up until I jumped ship much earlier this year, I always thought they were nothing but low end devices that do nothing but run a Chrome browser and serve even less purpose without an internet connection. Hoo boy was I deadassed wrong 🙂
