OMG! Y'all made me feel so OLD talking about "some girl" Eva Perón. She was the First Lady of Argentina! A whole opera was written about her. Antonio Banderas and Madonna played the main parts in the movie version. Do you know the song "Don't Cry For Me Argentina?" That's from the opera and its sung by the Eva Perón character.

"Some girl named Eva Peron" was the First Lady of Argentina from '46-'52 via her husband, Juan Peron; the movie "Evita" is about her, and was played by Madonna. The song "Don't cry for me, Argentina" came from that.

Eva María Duarte de Perón was the wife of Argentine President Juan Perón and First Lady of Argentina from 1946 until her death in 1952. She is usually referred to as Eva Perón or Evita. She was born in poverty in the rural village of Los Toldos, in the Pampas, as the youngest of five children. Did you not see the movie where Madonna portrayed the part of this historical figure?

Eva Peron was the first lady of Argentina in the early 50s. The people loved her. She's my favorite lady in history. She died at age 32. She was so loved they had to secretly bury her in Europe, italy. They brought her body back 20 years later and buried her in the family crypt. The one you saw there. Her body was perfctly preserved. The crypt was started by her and the president before hand. And her other family members are also in there. There was also a Broadway musical about her called. Evita.

If you ever go to London, I'd love to see a vlog of Highgate Cemetry West.
The East side is cool as well, but the West is fantastic. I am into Gothic and the place facinates me.
It is a lot more overgrown and green than this graveyard, but I find that adds to the atmosphere.
I've never been, but seen very many clips and read a lot about it.
Pére Lachaise in Paris is another facinating cemetry.

"Modern polo originated in Manipur, a northeastern state of India. The Silchar Polo Club was founded in 1859 by British military officers and tea planters, after Lieutenant Joe Sherer saw the locals playing polo and said, “We must learn the game!” From India, polo spread as fast as its enthusiasts could travel, appearing in Malta in 1868, England in 1869, Ireland in 1870, Argentina in 1872 and Australia in 1874." not to bust ant bubbles.

Eva Peron was the First Lady of Argentina. from, I think, 1948 to 1952. She was very controversial. Started out life as a call girl and an actress. She married Juan Peron who was a General. He became president and the two of them were a very famous, very controversial opwer couple. She died of cancer in 1952. The body was eventually hidden so that it wouldn't be stolen while a mausoleum was being built but they body disappeared, or was lost, and eventually recovered in Italy. She is the subject of the musical Evita written by Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice. Madona starred in the movie version.

The story about the girl who was buried alive is actually quite common back in history That is why they hold "wakes" - they stemmed from the days when it was easy to bury people who were actually alive. So the held a "wake" to make sure the dead did not wake up and that they were really dead.

I won't pile on about Evita. Instead, I was pumped that you found the Rapa Nui. Best ice cream that I have ever eaten.

8:38 The modern game of polo is derived from Manipur, India, where the game was known as 'Sagol Kangjei', 'Kanjai-bazee', or 'Pulu.
In 1862 the oldest polo club still in existence, Calcutta Polo Club, was established by two British soldiers, Sherer and Captain Robert Stewart. Later they spread the game to their peers in England. The British are credited with spreading polo worldwide in the late 19th century and the early 20th century at the height of its empire.
British settlers in the Argentine pampas started practicing polo during their free time. Among them, David Shennan is credited with having organised the first formal polo game of the country in 1875, at Estancia El Negrete, located in the province of Buenos Aires.

When y'all showed Eva Peron's mausoleum I was thinking minutes before that "I wonder if she is buried there." There is entire musical about her life.

I believe you have informed yourselves in the mean time about 'a girl'.....lol. So sorry, reminded me of an American tourist, on a flight to Stuttgart, once asking me, if 'The Black Forest will be open today'. Evita Peron was the First Lady of Argentina, beloved by most for her bravery to do what she felt was right. Still love you guys!

Maybe you need to read some books about the country where you are visiting, “ that “ girl was the First Lady.

Maybe it would be better to say this in a kinder way? Just tell them that was the First Lady, no need to be arrogant about it.
