Suzuki V-Strom 250 Off Road adventure in Transylvania

A few months ago i made a snowy trip with my Suzuki VStrom 250 which ended late in the night and with the help of local people.
Now i had to revisit them, and retry to pass the mountain roads.
This is the video of my second trip.

@@transylvanianrider Agree , I use to ride a 1000cc motorbike , never again . Small bikes are so much better on mountain roads .

I really enjoy your trips and I am fan of your channel. I am thinking of buying the same bike (vstrom 250) or probably go for a bigger engine like KTM 250 ADV (+5 hp) or BMW GS 310 (+10 hp)
Do you think that v strom 250 is powerful enough or a bigger engine could be better ?

A few horse power are not enough to make a objective decision. There are a lot of other criterias to make your decision :)
Try to find a V-Strom for a test ride because it is important to knew what are you buying.
I prefer the V-Strom with lower HP engine, compared with KTM 250 (btw KTM is a NoNo for me) or GS310.
Otherway, if i find a 2019-2020 Honda CB500x at a fair price (as i found my Suzuki) i'l buy it...:)

A question; what modifications did you do on your bike?
Because i am in the market for a bike that has off road capabilities, not motocross ( did that a long time ago, but now i am too old...) but just riding through nature, (forest and unpaived roads, maybe a single track), with my camera taking pictures of wildlife.
I have a few options; Himalayan, CRF300, CB500X and the V-Strom250.
But is it hard to find good reviews of the Suzuki's off road capabilities because most reviews are about the 250SX, whichs is a different version than the European 250, it has a single cilinder, 19"frontwheel and 200 mm ground clearance, 40 mm more than your version!
And when i find a review about the 250 they don't recommend off-road riding with it...
But when i see your videos it seems that this little V-Strom 250 has very good off-road capabilities.
What is your opinion and advice?

Fortunately, I didn't need to make too many changes. If you look at the clips with reviews at 10,000 and 20,000 km, you will see that I only added a crash bar which is essential, I replaced the brake and clutch levers with foldable ones which are great.
It's hard to make recommendations because everyone has a different riding style.
But I can say that for me, the motorcycle is great. You can see in different videos where I was with her. I imagine that in Hungary the off road is not quite as extreme as in our mountains.
On the other hand, all the motorcycles you have on the list are good for something like this. It would be great to be able to test each model and make up your own mind.
If you get to Koloszvar, we can meet to share live, some opinions ;)

Nice ride! What's the total mass for the bike? Is there enough space for the pillion? Interested in buying this one, the Versys-X 300 or CB500x.

I ride very well with my wife (84+56 kg)
First, i was also interested to buy a second hand CB500x but i get a very good offer from a Suzuki dealer from Austria and i prefered to buy a new bike.
I am very happy with the bike and i consider to change it ONLY if it limits me. Until then, i ride hapilly.
Foarte fain, si eu ma gandeam la un Cb500x dar pana la urma cred ca ma voi orienta spre V-Strom de 250 pentru ca nu sunt inalt si prefer sa fie mai usoara. Am auzit ca vibreaza neplacut la turtie mare. Te-a deranjat asta ca incepator?

Hi Vasillis ! It would be better for the off road section but i didn't feel the need too much. I think it is better to ride with caution and not overestimate the tire profile.
When i change my tires, i think i will choose some 80/20.

Where is the off road segment relevant to the machine? I have the CFMoto 150NK which could easily conquer the roads shown in the video.

Hi Mario. I have 10.000km and still have the original IRC tyres. For the next year i will change them but i am unsure what manufacturer & profile to choose. Two days ago i filmed a kind of long term use review and i'll present my opinion regarding the tyres.

Why did you need rescue mate?

The part with the rescue is from another video, made in march 2020. At that time the road was covered with glassy ice and i couldn't return because the ramp was over 10%.
Hi i tried the vstrom 250 off road with mud, it is disaster, front wheel blocked with mud due to small gap beetween wheel and mudguard, motorbike is very fragil, if fall once on wet mud road , brake something , not suitable offroad. Nothing to compare offroad with my previous Djebel 650
