For 10+ years I ate a huge spinach salad every day for lunch. My belly would blow up, I’d look 10 months pregnant, feel miserable, but thought this was healthy. I have celiac disease and am allergic to milk. So lots of almond milk and flour. Ate lots of sweet potatoes, chocolate, white potatoes and beans and nuts. My creatinine level was slowly rising, and they’d just tell me to drink more water. I ended up with massive kidney stones and had to have surgery. Every day in the late afternoon (after my big spinach salad), I’d notice this white powder/dust/ crystals on the tops of my cheeks. I’d have to remember to look in a mirror to brush that dust (oxalates) off my cheeks. I never knew what that was at the time. I’ve been carnivore just over a year and have gone through oxalate dumping three times so far- hip/low back pain, joint pain, the dust on my cheeks, crystals coming out my eyes, and cloudy gritty urine. I wonder how many years it will take to get all the oxalates out of my tissues.

Same here! Spinach salads, steamed spinach… name it! 🙄
Nasty kidney stone attack and still didn’t connect the dots! After starting keto lifestyle last August along with yoga and long lake walks I got much better, lost 15 lb immediately, dropped my bp meds and antidepressants, but my arthritis was still there 😏. Weight stalled and bloating was getting insane. Stomach cramps after those bowls of greens (as Dr Berg recommended) got unbearable.
After discovery of Dr Berry and Dr Chaffee I switched to carnivore and everything started changing rapidly! Started loosing fat again (the last 15lb) , got tons of energy,so added Pilates and weight lifting to my routine. Toning up like there is not tomorrow and I AM 61! (Female) Arthritis is almost gone, my hair (OMG my hair) 🙏🏻 grew back and became shiny and healthy. They used to fall off in chunks while brushing! 😖
Now… one or two hairs on the brush every other day or so. My sense of smell, taste and hearing came back 👏👏👏👏👏 And (kinda little embarrassing to admit in my age) but sexual drive is back too! Thank goodness my husband is one of those who seems never going to loose it and I was miserable with that. Not anymore 🤭🤭🤭

Finally! I used to pass kidney stones every year - year and a half. All the 'knowledgeable' ER personnel would do is ask me how much alcohol and soda pop i drank. When i answered that i didnt drink that stuff they would look at me with a smirk on their face and say "yeah...right". I decided maybe being healthier would help so i started with more dark leafy greens, berries, almonds,a square of dark chocolate every night, etc. I started passing stones 6-9montgs apart. I always thought that if there was information for me to not pass stones that at least ONE of the many ER people would have at least commented. I started researching and was FLOORED. If just ONE of the doctors or nurses had even said look up high oxalate foods i would have realized that there was something i could do. It was insinuated to me that just alcohol and soda pop were to blame and surgery was the only answer. I havent passed a stone since!

Lol I just watched a German video from the tvberlin channel, Wie Sie durch Epigenetik gezielte Entgiftungsstrategien anwenden können, all about toxins (not oxalates, mostly glyphosate but also others) but I liked this sentence most: " And this burden on us today is also a creeping burden; every day we eat vegetables, fruits, some carbohydrates, maybe even organic things, yes, if we are already familiar with that. But each of these substances simply contains environmental toxins,...." and the speaker also explains how these toxins travel through the body and damage the mitochondria etc. Interesting! A huge study in Canada has shown that everything except animal products (including eggs!) are contaminated with glyphosate because the animals were designed to deal with it, we're not. ruclips.net/video/wi-IJu-qDQM/видео.html
Edit: here's the study, and I'm quoting their findings, not only about ruminants: "Dairy/Meat:
This was the smallest category, with a total of 22 samples. This included a total of 10 dairy-based products and 12 meat-based products. (See Table S2 for more information on the samples tested.) Glyphosate was not detected in any sample. As expected, whatever the source of the glyphosate, glyphosate was not detected in these products because the animal will metabolize and eliminate the pesticide before it can transfer to the milk or meat."
    Here is the study: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.jafc.9b07819
The highest concentration was found in INFANT food!

I expect you are the one that is doing the research? From my experience, people who do not do research, tend to not accept the hard truths. We all negotiate things, and if you do not do the hard work of researching information, you tend to negotiate more with yourself. At least, that is what I have found.
I have tried helping family. Passing along what I consider critical information for their health. But they prefer to be overweight and sick. As they do not do the research, they feel it is impossible to live a healthier lifestyle.

Heh, when I was trying out vegan, I went very heavy on raw spinach, almonds, cashews, black beans, shredded wheat, wheat bran, and cocoa powder in hot water. Vegan made me fat and puffy. When I switched abruptly to ketovore and then carnivore, I broke out with a few dozen small red bumps on my torso that reminded me of chigger bites, but these lasted almost a year. I assume that was oxalate dumping.

      @_Solaris 4 месяца назад +7

The problem with isolated oxalates though is that they are more physical than chemical.
It's not really possible to detoxify something that doesn't always involve itself with chemical processes (though some oxalates do bind with calcium etc).
Much isolated oxalate dumping is a literal mechanical process, in that those oxalate crystals/shards physically work out of joints, skin etc, and even the eyes for some, leaving them red & painful.
So, fermentation doesn't seem to lower oxalate levels to a noticeable degree (or so I've heard).

I also got rid of everything in our home that wasn't a part of our diet. Including any spices that had sweeteners or or additives. The hardest part is visiting with family when their cousins are eating rice and crap and we don't, but after 4 months they are pretty used to it.
We also found that letting them eat what they want vs a "family meal" helps a lot. My son loves his burgers with cheese and salt and the girls are obsessed with taco meat. (burger, homemade taco seasoning, sour cream, and cheese) I also added in dessert, which I never did before. Once a week we eat ice cream. As for holidays, I let them indulge. My husbands family is from Malta and the aniund of breads and pasta at family functions is insane. I'm trying to teach them that, that is what holidays used to be for. Even from a Biblical history perspective, the ground was “cursed” (Genesis 3:17) because Adam disobeyed his creator. Each successive generation had a diminishing lifespan which accelerated after the flood. It stands to reason that the quality and variety of food was limited by banishment from Eden. I wonder if some plant life even became extinct after being submerged for months in the deluge. Maybe that is why God did not rescind the provision of eating flesh of living creatures after the ground dried up. The evidence is mounting that humans need animals to digest and assimilate most vegetation in order for it to have the best bioavailability. We subsist when limited to eating vegetation. Sin (missing the mark of perfection) is inherent in man since all children born to Adam came after his condemnation, and we die as a result. The diminished quality of our food combined with our fallen flesh is a double whammy, it seems. Consequently, we are vulnerable to the effects of oxylates, as Sally Norton describes beginning around 7:23 in this video.

@@prettyblueboxthat's impossible lol. You end up eating more spinach when you Cook it leading to greater oxalate consumption.

Would this remobilization of oxalates in the body to be cleaned out by the kidneys once you cut out dietary high oxalate foods cause your AST and ALT levels released by your liver to go up? The reason for the question is my AST increased from 21 to 30 and ALT from 30 to 35 once I completely cut out carbs and went full carnivore. Looking for an explanation why that would happen?

awesome video. I have seen more videos of Sally Norton who says to eliminate oxalates from people who have been vegan for many years it takes 7 to 12 years, after 10 years she is still having oxalate discharges... I believe that Sally Norton does not do a carnivore diet but a low oxalate diet with carbohydrates and for this reason between his years of being a vegan and a low oxalate and carbohydrate diet after 10 years he still hasn't solved his problems, I believe that the right path is carnivore diet and 0 carbohydrates and as I have heard many with a maximum of 3-6 months the drains are exhausted because all the ones I have heard on videos solve bone pain and all the dumping problems...

Since I was born through 27 years of eating a species inappropriate diet, I’m surprised my body hasn’t said “fuck you” yet. Crazy how much our body can tolerate crap without going 6ft under.

The oxalate dump that happens on an elimination diet, especially the carnivore diet, is really important to talk about. Because people are not aware and blame the carnivore diet while the body is finally detoxing from the accumulated poisons. Even the “keto flu” may be ox dumping.

You are absolutely correct. I started time restricted fasting and carnivore at the same time. I expected certain physical events to manifest and they did. But I had done lots of research. People think if this is so good for you then you should feel amazing day one and just get better and better each day. Wrong! Your body is used to your habits. Your brain gets addicted to carbs and like an addict wants it's fix. Your digestive tract is completely disrupted. There is a window of time where you will experience challenges if you are caught unaware. But if you understand your body and it's function is not simple like a light switch you understand what is happening and in a matter of a few weeks, give it take, you start seeing amazing results.

@@richardgonzales3562 everyone is different and this statement gets confirmed for me daily in this healing carnivore space. For example, I started feeling amazing immediately, dropped weight, lifelong depression went away, the works. I started slowly intuitively and that was the way to go. I had an 8 month carnivore honeymoon and then i gained weight and more serious oxalate dumping began, chronically. I’ve binged a LOT of oxalates in my over half a century long life, so it’s to be expected. I also dumped ox like crazy before i even began carnivore so i was on board and paying attention. Love the diet, make adjustments as i go and my latest healing strategy is short dry fasts weekly. Amazing for resetting and healing my gut. Byproduct: keeps eating the same thing super exciting.
      Cheers!

I think that people should be careful when establishing what causes otherwise multi-factorial problems. Having studied diet and nutrition for over thirty years, I have seen so many people come out and blame one compound or the other for the gamut of diseases etc.
I would like some more studies before I blame one metabolite again. I've been there done that.
Granted the overloading of diets with processed foods is the main issue for people and not IMO spinach and other green vegetables.

    Hey Doc
It’s ok to only eat burger patties with minimal additives ?
I see they still add some kind of flower to hold them together(tapioca starch)
I bought new type of burger today and contain some types of black pepper, sodium metabisulphite, ascorbic acid, rapeseed oil.
For these i don’t have a percentage but beef it’s 76% of which fat 23%
    Is this good?
I also eat fish, butter and raw eggs, bought also some liver
I don’t like cold meat after being cocked;have any ideea why?
Tried pork and don’t like it, specially the fat that make me throw up. I don’t eat chicken for more than 6 months.
Overal i feel better, carnivore for a week, had few days of low energy, followed by one day toilet issues.
    Now everything is fine

Meat & eggs , you can use milk if you really want carbs but not optimal, a few months and you'll most likely clear all oxalates out of your tissues

Organic has nothing to do with it, it's the plant itself - apparently the way a plant protects itself as it grows but DrGundry has explained how certain ways you cook them can remove alot of the problem. I think peeling & boiling a potato is one way

when it comes to oxalates, its better to take off high oxalate foods (chocolate, spinach, nuts, potato skin) and then slowly reduce the consumption of other foods with oxalates, such as fruits, potato flesh and some plants you enjoy (that are not dangerously high in oxalates). if you just stop cold turkey you get some pretty shitty symptoms for months straight I believe, it's almost like quitting a drug after years of abuse and the drawbacks are extremely bad. It's better to slowly take them off.
