- Sally Norton joins Dr. Kevin Stock for a Snack about Toxic Superfoods, notably oxalates, and how “healthy” foods can be wrecking your health.
There is a strong belief that plants are superfoods. However, they can have negative effects on human health! Sally uncovers these mysteries in this Snack as well as her new book, Toxic Superfoods.
In this Snack, Sally discusses:
How responsible are oxalates for the myriad of symptoms that people are having these days?
What are the worst offenders of oxalates?
What would a diet low in oxalates look like?
Are you against high vitamin C supplementation or eating a lot of fruit?
Are oxalates contributing to gut damage?
Don’t forget to check out her book that you can pre-order here

Sally's videos have taught me so much about plant oxalates and their harmful effects. I'm mostly carnivore for about 3 years now (vegetarian for decades before that), and I've noticed that I don't miss veggies at all. I cook for my husband, who still eats them, but they don't even appeal to me.
I often think of how children are typically resistant to eating them, and how parents force them or try to make the veggies more palatable with sauces.
Still unlearning so much at 66! I wonder what's next...
Thank you for the video.
Love Sally, she's been an important figure in bringing oxalates to light.
Same here ! 🙃
My God!!! I just watched a speech 5 minutes ago saying exactly the opposite. Grains, nuts, berries, leaves are wonderful. And now this... I'm completely lost. I wish I could live only with sunlight
Believe Sally. I was plant based for years and am horribly oxalate poisoned. Still dumping 3 years after switching to carnivore.
Maybe Blood type, different blood types do better on certain kinds of food.
She's fear mongering to sell a book.
This is total B.S
@@robbiekeith3528 May you not ever experience the horrible experience of oxalate poisoning
I wouldn’t wish it on the most vicious or idiotic of trolls like you
I WAS PLANT BASED 36 years. After 4 years of a proper human meat based diet I STILL DUMP OXALATES And the symptoms are HORRIBLE
GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOUR PATHETIC SOUL
Just try the different ways of eating and you will know what works for you. For me carnivore.
Definitely want to hear more about oxalates! I am not willing to become a full on carnivore so would like more information on how to navigate vegetables. I was drinking spinach smoothies in the morning and getting sicker and sicker so of course would eat more so called superfoods to get better and was making myself sicker. I have started a low oxalate diet and am already feeling better but there is a lot of confusing information out there .
Good comment and hope you’re feeling better soon! If I was you I would take out one at a time those super high oxalate foods first….then after awhile get her book to see what you are eating that could be still high and eliminate those! I still do chocolate but I have found after going low oxalate I really HATE the high oxalate and bitter dark chocolate. I only eat Lily’s milk chocolate chips that are only like 33% cocoa.
I have learned so much from Sally Norton.
If you listened to all the nutrition 'experts ' out there you would literally end up eating NOTHING. You just have to find what works for YOU.
Toxic Superfoods sold out in fewer than 48 hours after its release here in the UK. The demand was so far beyond what the US publisher could handle that Amazon UK had to suspend taking new orders (as of this morning, they've started accepting orders again but warn of long delays). Fortunately, I pre-ordered my copy in August, and while waiting for that (still), I've started reading the Kindle version. Brilliant book.
I have 7 of the symptoms of oxalate dumping. I have pre-ordered Sally's book 📖 and am waiting for delivery. 🤪🥴
Sally is a mouth breather.
Too bad that it ends so soon. Please delve in deeper with the conversation with Sally K. Norton.
Maybe buy her book when it comes out
@@redowlmoon7733 Yes, what a novel idea!
I'd like to see more on this subject as many don't believe or know that oxalates are a problem.
It's a funny thing. Everything i want to eat seems to be a problem these days. Cheese makes the LDL too high, red meat causes cancer and raises cholesterol, wheat causes glucose spikes with too many carbs., and sugar is a no-no, and now, I have to check on the fruits and veges. honestly, I'm not sure what to eat.
@rivaschertzman3779 Don't despair, read the book, you haven't from your comment. Cheese is on menu, full of calcium, meat is good, lots of fruit and vegetables she says are low.
Love Sally! Every time I listen to her I learn some new little tidbit. So very helpful! ❤
I definitely need the full meal on this one, doc.
This is a wonderful interview! 💝 Thank you so much for having Sally on and having such a deep discussion about oxalates, gut health, and hyperabsorbtion!
I was Carnivore for 5 months and then I had severe oxalate dumping. I have gone back to my previous lifestyle of Keto with an eye toward Keto-vore soon. I was Keto for years prior to finding Carnivore. I don't really like vegetables so Carnivore was a revelation. But, I had tried in the past to be vegetarian - gained a ton of weight, because I was a terrible vegetarian - highly carbohydrate centered. Soldiering on...
How did you feel on carnivore? Did your overall wellness improve?
@@TheoSmith249 Yes. Definitely. I am back to mostly Carnivore now with some veg on rare occasions.
@@MarieLittle-zd5kc that is great to hear.
Did you get any joint pain starting on carnivore? I did and I'm trying to figure out what went wrong. Oxalate dumping perhaps? I'm just learning about it.
@@vertigofall The more you research oxalates and oxalate dumping the more you realize it is not fun. It is a necessary process, however. Watch more of Sally K. Norton or get her book on how to ease the pains. I still have joint pain, especially if I have carbs. It is much better now on mostly Carnivore.
Yes. Deep dive this subject 😮
Great interview! Toxic Superfoods is a great book. My 30 plus years of fibromyalgia is gone since I have dumped oxalates. I think there should be a warning label on high oxalate foods such as almond products, spinach, and kale.
Thank you Kevin. I love all your content. You're so intelligent and entertaining.
Does Resveratrol help kidneys deal with oxalates? When I heard Sally talk about energy and mitochondria I then thought about how resveratrol supplements always made me feel energised.
Someone recommended that I check out this lady. I recently "attempted" the carnivore diet but I only got two weeks in before I started to experience really severe joint pain in both hands, both knees and top and base of my spine. I also developed a small lump on my little finger knuckle. Very weird. I still have the pains 5 weeks on. I have returned to a "balanced" diet but I have left out grains and am pretty low carb. I have no idea what is happening to me. But I have been told this might be oxalate dumping?Any ideas would be most welcome...anyone?
Loved this! Yea do a full meal please.
OK I’m halfway through listen to this for a second time just curious about two things one is chocolate. I’ve been reading it chocolate and it’s natural form such as 85% chocolate or cacao
is good for you, actually very good for you. And what about vitamin C? What about Linus Pauline And his megadoses vitamin C seems like people are still that cause it seems to be successful for fighting off colds and such, and that there was a lot of research behind that.
Love your info.
I would like to hear more about the night shade family.
TY just ordered the kindle edition
Dr. Stephen Gundry on oxilates: not so fast. He says a small square of 100% cacao (spelling) is ok.
Great meat snack Kevin! Thanks. Where can i sign up for the daily bites?
Hey Tyron! Here is the link you can use to sign up for the Meat Health Bites - meat.health/bites/
Thanks Tyron, and sorry about that, we'll get the link put in the description!

Are sweet potatoes high in oxalate?
Is there a Edible Plant that doesn't have Toxicity ?
❤ Toxic Plants Great Podcast ❤
That explains why people in carnivore look like they’re aging backward.
What TEF stands for?
Does pressure canning destroy a lot of the oxalate?
Does crohns have a part in high oxalates
I tried switching to meat based but found that it aggravated my kidneys. I want to be able to stick with it but the affect on my sleep and bladder/urine is unsettling. Has anyone else had this problem. Looking to heal..
It takes time, your body is healing
@@Norman_Gunstan1 I want to believe that but my digestion stopped completely even with magnesium at the end of the day..
When u eat meat u have smaller bowel movements and less often its ok keep going
@@brodie9824 add more fats... eggs, butter, fatty meats and good salt
Very possibly you are experiencing oxalate dumping. Worth doing some research into how to handle that better. It is worth it in the long run, but can be challenging.
“Mediterranean Diet” ‘nough said 😊
Also Roundup is surly in those veggies. So eat up vegans...
Gluten Saponins Oxalates Phytates Leptins Carbohydrates Cellulose
Lectins.
Pity the so-called celebrity chefs don't highlight things like this.
This explains why EVERYA vegetarian looks so old
no body eating a ton of vegies, the amount in a plate will not harm the health. So dont scare people telling oxalate or lectin. etc etc.
Pinoys have better greens.
Bring to lite more about oxalates.
Animal foods nd seafoods on 10% on diet only.
Saturated fats elimination
This is a joke lol. This is why they don’t have any scientific prof of this or any studies.
Can you stop nodding it’s annoying
Fake.
promosm
Sorry Kevin, the constant nodding makes me dizzy & I have to block you out.
Are you sure?
Just listen..don't look.
