I've been making and drinking spinach smoothies for years. I've also been suffering from kidney stones for years with a terrible temper Hmmmmm. The doctors never once mentioned oxalates go figure. I'll have to start rethinking my entire diet. I feel so stupid thinking I've been eating healthy. Thank you ladies for this information.
@@carlajones8741 We have to look after our own health. Docs have lead many down a dark path of ongoing treatment intentionally. I don't know how they sleep at night. Yes, they are part of a corrupt system but they chose to stay a part of it. They know it is wrong. I have spoken with docs who came over to the wellness side and they told me that they sleep better now. They knew they were in fact "doing harm." It's not all docs all the time- some are still good and necessary like ER and Surgeons but overall, the system is designed to keep you sick and paying- period.
On another talk Sally mentioned that Chia Seeds are also high in Oxalates, turmeric, black pepper, pine nuts also. Thank you Sally I now know why I was so ill with pain 15 years ago for 5 years. 5 gynaes told me I was imagining the pain that I described as broken glass being scraped inside me. The last gynaecologist told me to get Counselling as I was making up the problem, I returned to my car and actually burst into tears. Finally I find a gynaecologist in London who believed me, but she did not tell me it was my food causing the problem. I at the time was eating spinach everyday for 5 years, lots of nuts, peanut butter, celery and beet juicing everyday with turmeric, dark chocolate. My memory was also going - Sally in another talk mentioned that they have found plaques of oxalate crystals in the brain. I truly believe Dementia is not only caused by Sugar and carbs - ie Type 3 Diabetes but also from Oxalates. My depression, negative beating up myself head, anxiety have all disappeared. I can now function and calmly do paperwork and function at work. The fog has lifted. My energy is back. I am now Carnivore and feeling amazing for the first time in my life - 52 years old. My entire 52 years has been a sugar/carb lifestyle with lots of anti biotics as a child.
So how do you know for CERTAIN it isn’t from ditching all the sugar, grains, carbs...? I recently dropped all of that from an otherwise healthy diet & have seen amazing changes already in my pain from osteoarthritis. I’m genuinely curious how not eating a big salad & other veg at my 2 meals/day would be a positive. I do need to finish watching.
So all those people who used to put down spinach and celery, etc as 'rabbit food' were right. ;-) Peanuts - A lot of people think peanuts are best used as hog feed. Rudolph Diesel invented the engine that bears his name to run on peanut oil, not a petroleum product- so there is another good use. The best way to eat many plants seems to be to eat the animals that are designed to eat the plants.
When I came down with an autoimmune disease I began Keto and got off my Prednisone in 3 months and felt great, but, I was still on methotrexate for my RA. I came across carnivore and gave it a go and I was off the methotrexate in 2 weeks. A week later I had a small Kale salad and 2 days later had extreme pain in my hands, back to meat. 2 days later I felt fine, just a coincidence? I waited another week and tried another salad and had the same thing happen in a couple of days. Back to eating meat. About 3 months into carnivore I got a tremendously itchy rash that lasted 3 months and then cleared up and no more problems. So now, a year later, I can had a small salad with no reaction, but I'm not going to push my luck, sticking with meat. Thank you for sharing this video.
Yes I noticed the same I can now eat almost anything that I never dreamed I would be able to eat again. But it is just a test now and then. Feel way too good on carnivore.
2:33 - "...I had poisoned myself by eating (healthful) foods from my organic garden." Wow. She had a degree in nutrition from Cornell University, and a Masters degree in Public Health, among other training and experience in nutrition, and shares that even with all that knowledge, and striving to learn and follow what is a health-giving diet since early childhood, she has long had health problems. Thank you for sharing this- Judy and Sally! Well worth the time to listen and consider this information.
Jefferdaughter nutrition “science” has been basically crap for decades. This has allowed so many new age chalrlatans t step in and fill the void with unfounded nonsense like “be raw vegan so you can absorb the immune system of the plant!” Check out Bart Kay’s channel to see how bad and corrupt “science” has become.
Misinformation brings money, we lost our health care science long ago The good ones trying to bring the truth to lie lose their job. The bad ones keep making money.... It's the truth.
I wonder how many of us started eating these foods we are told are very healthy in large amounts and after a few years ended up with numerous inexplicable health problems. I'm so glad I've discovered the reason now and slowly recovering on a low oxalate diet.
Yes.If anything they might at most mention that sensitive people may have stomach issues and suggest that you would notice issues immediately. And a lot of people are stressing out having iron and calcium supplements yet still have deficiencies while having loads of spinach which is claimed to have all these unique nutritients, which they have but a substance attached to the goods in the food which cause the body to reject it. But I suppose that the reports studied about content of foods does not look into what happens at the cellular level in the body. It's kind of a similar problem like for instance Robert Lustig argues against the notion of "all calories is the same" it's probably similar problem with sources of vitamins and minerals. It's sad, and perhaps a reason of women in menopause often tend to have degrading bone mass.Especially that group tend to be health aware and have a lot of these foods and often reducing dairy despite not actually having problems with neither lactose nor käsein (because they have been taught plant based is best).
I’m 27 and developed neuropathy this year after eating exclusively potatoes and beets as a base for all of my food. I lost my period and couldn’t function at all. It trapped so much metal in my body. I’m so glad I found this knowledge. Not even 10 days on a no oxalate diet and I feel so restored. My pee has been mad cloudy. Even passing calcium chunks but they don’t hurt. I started introducing kimchi once my gut healed up as I had a bad candida infection too, and the fermented foods give me like a euphoria state it’s wild 😂😭✊ at the worst of it I could feel the blood pumping through my entire body.. could feel my heart beat in my legs feet arms and head. Id wake up every 2-4 hours at night extremely warm. don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t find this invaluable knowledge. Vegetables were ruining me
I ate beef for the first time in 27 years yesterday. I’ve eaten fish and seafood all along, but everything else I loved appears to be high Oxalates. I am now going to step down as advised like coming off a drug. I was eating almond flour pancakes! Lots of nuts and nut butters also. I feel so stupid, thinking I was doing the right thing, thank you for this potentially life saving information!
My daughter and I had our bodies go into complete rejection of all foods from making "healthy" spinach smoothies for a couple weeks. We were at 5 weeks on low ox diet inadvertently because the only food our bodies will tolerate were pretty low. This is a nightmare ride. I'm so glad there is information out here and knowledgeable people to help. 🙏
hope you are both doing well now! so glad for you that you found the right information and awesome people like Sally who share this knowledge to help others. Wish you both good health 🙏
Thank you! Glad I stumbled onto this channel (now subscribed), I’ve been ketovore 6 months am gradually adding veggies and noticed vulvar itching, zero sugar in diet am 67 figured atrophic vaginitis…I had been plant based dieter prior and was investigated in 2019 for blood in urine, all negative which was probably oxalate caused. Today, thanks to your video I pulled an Oxalate food chart off internet, wow!!! Oh yeah, was REALLY eating them during my microscopic blood in urine and my current itching is probably from the veggies I was starting to eat again!! Back in my plant based day (with plenty of grains I suffered SO MUCH JOINT inflammation. That all went away when I went ketovore. I can shovel snow! I can bend over and pick up grandchildren!! I lost 40 lbs! I am 67 going on 17 thanks to you tubers like you and Dr Ken Berry who is my beacon of light in a very dark world of physicians-most of which are puppets for big Pharma. Thank you for your channel and for your guest, thank you thank you. The puzzle is slowly being completed👵😁
Two of the most beautiful people in the world. Thanks for all you do. One of my many favorite moments in this video is the quote, "The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance. It is the illusion of knowledge." I will be coming back to this video again and again.
From the time I aligned my food with my vegan boyfriend, I have been more irritable, depressed, have cloudy pee, can’t think straight, anxious, inflamed all over, even when I went back to anti depressants nothing seemed to help, I could not even stretch just everything hurts. I’m going back on my regular diet but smarter by following this. When I was younger I remember my pediatrician wanted me to have 3 eggs a day (now I remember why) . Thanks for this, or I wouldn’t been able to pin point what has been wrong with me.
I first thought that gluten was my trigger food for my RA, but now I know I react so much more to oxalates. I’m sure getting rid of gluten helped, but a carnivore diet is the way to go for me.
This was such a great talk with excellent information. I struggled with kidney pain, cloudy urine, worsening joint pain and such when first going keto. I originally thought it was all due to Lyme disease flare or detoxing my mold toxicity but I now realize that it also was likely due to oxalate dumping! I was having prickly sweat and lots of rashes and skin peeling which I at the time had attributed to candida... I now am convinced it was oxylates as they always had the white grit underneath the blisters as described in this video! So helpful!
Have no idea how I missed this interview with Sally Norton, as I've been collecting them for 5yrs, since going Carnivore. This will make 120. Excellent interview! Even though I have both Sally's books, Toxic Superfood and the Data Companion, I learn something new every time.
This is both depressing and exciting. There's so much garbage out there, yet it's so easy to eat well, with a handful of the right foods. My husband recently remarked that our fridge looked empty, but the more I eliminate the better I feel!
@@demelzapoldark3035 Thank you very much. I'm especially interested in Dr. Ede, as she mentions having histamine issues, which I'm pretty sure I have as well. Of everything I have given up, coffee is the most missed. 😪
I’m so glad I came across this channel and specifically this video. Since going keto for health benefits I’ve been having very bad tingling in my lower back and I’ve been going on in and out of hospital to scan for kidney stones. I’ve only recently learned that all the foods that triggered this tingling sensation are called “oxalates”. Wow! I’ve been contemplating going carnivore just gotta plan how. Thank you for this great episode.
ty so much 4 talking about Oxlates So I have RA I'm 44 and I kinda knew Oxlates = Bad and for a longtime I ate mostly meet n a few vegetables. Then my neighbor was going on about Vegan so I started to doing 100 fruits n vegetables after a while I was like dead and so fatigued and wrist pain jabbing pains....After making almond pancakes I went back to sleep at like 9am....I also had had beet chips....I had figured about spinach was giving me gout...It incredible that vegetables r causing this deblibtation
Every time sally is on I’m watching third video so far since i started carnivore May 10th. 8 blocking stones from 2015-2022… 16 surgeries stent placement and stone removal,And passing others. Thankful that i have very little pain just a a jabbing pain when they pass. I am eating blueberries and Pistachio’s small amount for my lower oxalate berry so the oxalate dumping isn’t all at once. I used to eat alot of oxalate diet all my life. Cashews my favorite among all things nuts.Pistachio’s,peanuts. So good to know it. Making sure to not let it dump all at once.
Wow that was mindblowing indeed🤯🤯 it’s why the reason I started on my carnivore diet this year! Thank you so much for sharing us this valuable knowledge🙌🏻🙌🏻
This explains why I felt great the first 5 days of carnivore, but over the last 4 days, I’ve progressively felt crappy again. But still better than how I felt before I started. Side note, my vulva pain is what has helped me stick to this. So I’m so glad to learn it was probably the oxalates.
@@MOAB-UT they did an ultrasound and CT scan and said I had some sludge, but it wasn’t inflamed and there were no stones. My side has not been hurting at all anymore. I actually feel pretty great except that damn “down there” pain after I pee at night. I thought I would start adding low oxalate foods back in one at a time, but I really have no desire to eat any fruits or vegetables.
@@julybug9795 I would be very careful with Oxalates. They are a reactionary anti-nutrient acid and very bad. The concept of hormesis does not really apply. It is best to severely limit or avoid IMO. Look at the chart online CNR Oxalate Content in Food. It is very helpful. My suggestion would be to consult with a good Functional Medical Doc now about your sludge so you don't end up like me. I am mostly fine now but had to go under the knife. If you had sludge, you are likely at a beginning stage of disease.
@@MOAB-UT I honestly have absolutely no desire to eat anything but meat. Cheese is even losing its appeal. My whole family is “worried about me.” Did you go through that? They don’t believe me that I don’t need plants. I feel soooo much better. Off meds for anxiety, fibromyalgia, and HRT (for menopause). I’m letting them believe this was just an elimination diet to clear out my system. I’m hoping eventually they will see that I’ve been fine without those plant foods they think I need.
@@julybug9795 In time you will likely start to incorporate some other whole foods- most do. No, my family doesn't really care what I eat. I've tried to influence them but it does not work. If you continue to thrive maybe they will learn by your example, but probably not! It's amazing that you have managed to heal yourself. Make sure the meat is grass FINISHED (not just fed- that means it likely had Corn later in life.) Also, research OXALATES and avoid them...though if you are ONLY eating meat- you already have that base covered. Many (not all) plants want to kill us. Oxalates, Lectin proteins, Gluten, etc. I am fairly new to meats. What type do you recommend? Sirloin by me is $16.99/lb. Strip looks better but costs $26.99. All grass Finished from a local farm. I also only cook at 300F for 40 minutes (flipping after 20 min.) This lowers dangers AGEs.
Interesting, this is probably another component to my overall well being since being keto, because I have slowly eliminated things like almonds and even spinach(probably eat these once every few months) while eating this way. Only once in a while I have greens like salad, cabbage, brocolli, sometimes an avocado since I like the taste, but it's mostly eggs, cheese, butter, full fat yogurt and pork or beef. Been lowering oxalates without realising, since I was just feeling better and better without them.
OH MY WORD! I've been on a carnivore diet for 3 months for eczema. 6 weeks ago i had a baby And imidiatly had an eczema flare on my hand that WOULD. NOT. HEAL! lasted 6 weeks. just few days ago i had to grease my hand up and keep it in a plastic bag with a hairtie around my wrist to keep it on, just so my hand would stop bleeding. Well that made my hand sweat a tone! And in three days my hand it about 90% healed!!! It had to have been a major Ox dump!!! That is amazing!
@@NutritionwithJudy did you find that the oxalate dumping eczema flares were way worse than than the flares you had before? . my hands feel like they were burned, they hurt so bad.
My spiritual guide guided me to this video. I am grateful to both you and her for sharing this interesting and useful piece of information. Thank you 🙏
I've been eating carnivore for almost 4 months now...have found that I don't have to wear deodorant anymore...but, this week I started drinking lemon water and low and behold...I know for a fact I'm going thru ox dumping...underarm odor very bad, acne in various areas, anxiety and sadness... With all that said...I'm pretty much feeling great...fat adapted and intermittent fasting... Oxalate dumping is seriously no joke :-)
Are you saying lemon water is good? Good for ox dumping (which im understanding as....helping RID the body of ox build up) But when the body is ox dumping "side effects" such as you mentioned may occur? (I know everyone is different) Bottom line. ..lemon water good?!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I knew I didn't have RA! I can finally heal. I know it's going to be painful and I'm going through it now, But now I'm educated about oxalates 💜🕊️
I got violently ill on cooked spinach in the third grade. I even found it repulsive before eating it and the taste was bitter - it looked gross, it was slimy, and the smell was disgusting - but I thought I should eat it anyway because they served it in school. I forced it down and it didn't stay down. I've never touched it since, and the very thought of cooked spinach to this day disgusts me. Lesson learned.
For everyone’s reference here is the video Dr. Paul Mason - 'How lectins impact your health - from obesity to autoimmune disease ruclips.net/video/mjQZCCiV6iA/видео.html
I gave up sugar and started carnivore 6 months ago. At a recent teeth cleaning appointment the dental hygienist freaked out over the heavy tartar. I said I'm experiencing oxylate dumping and it will take time to clean out my body when I've eaten a diet high in oxylates and lectins for decades including a lacto ovo vegetarian for 4.5 years. No wonder I ended up with Hashimoto's. To slow down the oxylate dumping recently I included 2-3 tablespoons of sauerkraut and 1-2 dill pickles.
FANTASTIC PODCAST 💖💖💖💖thank you for bringing this to us !! I have found it immensely informative and enlightening 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟I think that with all my health issues, this podcast has confirmed that I am having too high diet in Oxalates. This means most of my life (I am 50 yrs old ) I have been eating high oxalate diet. Having said that, past 8 years I have eliminated gluten, dairy, soy, corn, yeast to a large degree, but not completely and this has helped my fibromyalgia, allergies, urinary and faecal incontinence, rash, painful feet, migraines etc to a large degree. Because of my sensitivities and being highly reactive to almost everything I eat, I am seriously considering going carnivore. I’ve tried GAPS snd I am now thinking that perhaps because of oxalates and sulphur sensitivities, that would explain why I could not succeed on GAPS, especially the bone and meaty broths. Could oxalate accumulation over 50 years contribute to possibly loss of muscle mass and skim sensitivity ? Would appreciate any referrals or suggestions. Thanks in advance 🙏
I'm 63 yrs old with extreme osteoporosis. Fractured compressed spine. I've had horrible stiffness and pain, constipation for years. Plus many weird symptoms. I've eaten tons of high oxalates all my life. Awful.
My aching legs I’ve had since a child too...and my first kidney stone I was 18 years old. And I’d get sick a lot as a kid which I can akin to oxalate dumping because there were long stretches of time I was being fed high protein (wild meat). Amazing.
I like the Bornstein quote. The first time I heard it, was supposedly by Mark Twain, who said the problem is "...all the stuff we know, that just ain't so." President Reagan repeated something similar. "Liked"
I had to slow down my oxalate dumping when I went carnivore by including a few non-carnivore foods. Finally I tried giving them up and got tiny white hard bumps on my face that were really hard to get out. This stuff is real!
I have been taking a purslane extract for an auto immune condition which has worked for me but I noticed I got side effects right away. The more Ive researched I believe it's because purslane is high in oxalates and I taking it in concentrated form . I have experienced urinary problems such as pain at the tip of the urethra and the prostate ( male version of the vulva problem lol ) and extreme fatigue , joint aches with stiffness , insomnia , dry mouth , tremors (nervousness) . Its like a cruel joke cause this stuff has helped me with a few conditions but yet has made me feel lots of pain and discomfort from these side effects.
I started getting really sick this year. Actually last year I noticed I was swelling up a lot. Didn't feel good. Constantly eating. I called them mini viruses. I wasn't really sure what they were because I wasn't sick but I didn't feel well. I get a light fever but not really a fever and I started getting rashes. But I was eating very extremely healthy! Fast forward into 2023. I came down with what I thought was Lyme disease even though I didn't have any bullseye rash. At first I was so sick. I knew it had to be some kind of terrible flu. Then my whole core body got really cold and I literally thought I might die. They couldn't tell me what was wrong because all my blood tests were perfect... I had terrible pain in my shoulders and in my arms and then it went down into my legs. I got to the point where I could barely walk.. fatigue was horrible. I thought I was going to have to stop working because I could barely make it to my car and then 10 ft into my business without wanting to rest for half a day. In fact, I spent half the days trying to sleep on my desk.. I forced my doctor to do other tests because my research had taken me to multiple sclerosis but I thought I could not have this! And then he had one test that came back semi-positive for latent Lyme disease. So at least I felt I knew what it was going on. I went to another doctor and he said well. I'm not sure about the line but you do have excessive candida growth and you also have Epstein-Barr. And put me on a regimen for that. Although I did get somewhat better with the candida, I still wasn't good. I still felt lousy. I still had fevers and dizzy spells that lasted weeks. And then I kept coming across the word oxalates. I dismissed it because I figured it was some kind of new wave vegan thing or disease. Lol But when I started researching it I realized this was me! I've taken a lot of things that I was using in my diet. Dark chocolate, nuts, turmeric, green tea, smoothies, black pepper beets and other items..... Last week I was able to walk half a mile. I still have a lot of improvement to do but today the girl at work told me you know you're starting to look healthy! That made me smile😊 Because I knew she was right. The only thing I wish I could do is the carnivore diet but I have a very troubled liver... And I'm afraid that will hurt it even more
I would suggest looking up some videos about the carnivore diet and liver health. From all that I've heard, the carnivore diet is very good for the liver.
@@itzakpoelzig330 I found that the carnivore diet does help...because you're not investing oxalates. But you can't do it long term...at least in my case.
Great to hear Sally Norton's background story in more detail. Had heard about the Vulva Pain Foundation before, but didn't realize that Sally had personally dealt with oxalate consequences in that particular form. Yikes. That's the kind of personal trigger that motivates people to dive deeper (like the health scares of David Diamond, Ivor Cummins, & Dave Feldman with cholesterol).
This was the first time I heard someone else with the same vulva pain I was experiencing! It has gone away since starting carnivore... I just never made the connection that it was oxalates...
50 years of building up oxalate and I jumped right into Carnivore. Wish I would have seen this video first. Thought it was gout but it didn't feel quite the same. Legs felt prickly and itchy. Now six months in and leg itching has gone away but inflammation seems to be jumping from right ankle joint then to left wrist joint. Taking anti-inflammatory to relieve the pain. Not sure what to do? Try and power through or reintroduce small amounts to try and stop the dumping.
Omg!! I’m thinking about all the things I have had over the years!! Bartholin glands lanced and drained, dry eyes, aches joints!! I’m loving carnivore!!
I. Love you women with this convo. I literally started eating right and I've been reading that the most nutritious Foods are literally killing us and I had to read things on anti-nutrients and lectins then I started reading about things like oxalates and phytic acid so everything we've grown on has been wrong most plants do not want us to eat them most fruit when ripe ok because they need a vehicle to reproduce like us and animals through excretion or insects through pollination.... Man I was killing myself eating brown rice and sweet potato because I work out like a dog and I'm like I'm going to eat whole foods to better my nutrition intake...Then I found out oxalates also bind to calcium magnesium and zinc just like phytates and phytic acid Wow I'm hurt my mind is blown...Lol.... But now I'm going eat more meat and rice and some sauerkraut....An continue to intermittent fast....Yes I enjoyed it it makes sense we are made if protein.....An I'll continue low sugar also...Thanks for the video...Take care
@@helenalovelock1030 Hi Helena ..Nah I found out that brown rice can be a detriment to your health .....Its con confusing because brown rice is so health from a nutritional standpoint... But the body can't use the nutrients because of the anti nutrients because t contains...I was training and losing so much weight bit eating 5 times a day...Did some research and I was consuming to many anti nutrients.... White rice doesn't have that cause its refined
@@helenalovelock1030 That's awesome to.. I've been there and the only thing is....Carbs literally give you energy... Protein powers the body but carbs energize the body...I cut carbs and low carb diet an I looked freakin great but had low energy all the time....did some research and too many carbs is bad but some per day is good like starches and veges as carbs...I'm glad you found something that works for you..I hope you have success on your journey.
@@helenalovelock1030basmati rice is okay imo. It is medium GI and it doesn’t have lectins. I will also eat white rice with raw sushi fish sometimes. I avoid all other kinds of rice like the plague because they have lectins.
Thank you so much for such a great video. I had no idea that my keto rush was oxalate dumping. The rush was so bad, I had to stop keto. Now I can make informed decision when choosing my food.
I ate half a jar of peanut butter and had such muscle pain for 7 days in my leg, I was hoping around and non of the natural doctors had no clue what caused it!!! what a expensive degree to know bunch of nothing!
I am 1000000% convinced the carnivore diet is the best human diet possible. I am definitely going to become carnivore as soon as I can get my head around this oxalate dumping I am just a little bit confused when you say gradually get off the oxalates do you mean over a couple of weeks a couple of months or a couple of years I'm not really sure can you please clarify this in one of your next segments much love from the carnivore want to be.
John, I reduced oxalate over a 2 month period, reducing one or two oxalate foods a week. I could things happening odd pains here and there nothing serious though. Feeling Fantastic now, meat, butter, eggs, fish. Like the speakers added a few carbs in the evening, maple syrup rice, or some sweet potatoes.
Sorry to burst your bubble but there is not a single diet for all humans. What’s perfect for you might injure another. Please celebrate your success but don’t for a minute think it will work for everyone. Remember too, your success might be short-lived. None of us will know how successful each of our choices are until we die and look back retrospectively. Lastly, where do carnivores get their antioxidants?
Other animal species have species optimal diets. No one ever says that each individual koala has unique dietary needs, or each giant salamander, or each vampire bat, or each blue whale, or each termite, or each sea gull. All other species that we know of have a clear-cut and typically very narrow species appropriate diet. Less than a million years ago, humans went through a genetic bottleneck which reduced the entire population down to less than 2000 individuals. Then we went through another major genetic bottleneck about 70,000 years ago. The result is that the entire human population is much more genetically homogeneous than are chimpanzees, gorillas, or any of the other apes. And yet, you never hear it suggested that every individual gorilla needs to figure out the unique diet that will best serve him or her. The fact that most humans are floundering in a morass of bad food choices does not mean that humans all have different dietary needs. It just means that most humans are wrong about those dietary needs.
I'm sorry to hear that about pork. If you have ever heard a pig squeal when being killed, you will never want to kill one. I remember from a small child under 5 yoa and it was horrible.
Deep appreciation to Sally K. Norton. However, the question should not be 'Oxalates or sugar?' Or lectins. (See link to Dr. Mason's presentation on lectins, below.) This is literally a situation of 'pick your poison.' The vast majority of the US population is overweight or obese. The vast majority of those people- plus a lot of normal or lean people, are insulin resistant. That means they have Metabolic Syndrome/pre-diabetes, or Type 2 diabetes, whether or not they know they do. For these people, and Type 1 diabetics, consuming sugar or starch (which is just sugar molecules hooked together), Unless these people stop the cycle of increasing insulin resistance by avoiding sugar and starch, they will become more and more insulin resistant, until they are put onto insulin. Insulin injections do not halt the continuing damage caused by the sugar and insulin. This is considered a chronic, progressive disease- with increasing weight gain, amputations, blindness, heart, liver, and/or kidney disease being considered the inevitable result. Even for those without insulin resistance, weight issues or diabetes (the weight issue is usually a symptom of pre-diabetes), sugar is not as safe as we may think. It is addictive. Sugar, and starch (which is glucose molecules linked together), are not needed in the diet at all. They cause damage to tissues via glycation. In this presentation, other dangers of sugar are pointed out: Dr. Georgia Ede 'Mood and Memory - How Sugar Affects the Brain' ruclips.net/video/O8eR0R3sMHw/видео.html Daily eating windows, and short water-only fasts of a few days, or maybe 5-7, ideally under the supervision of a knowledgeable health professional, can help break the insulin resistance cycle. Fasting can also trigger the body to replace damaged mitochondria with new, healthy mitochondria. Continuing to consume sugar and starch with damaged mitochondria may feel better in the moment, but it does not seem like the logical solution, to me. Consult the fasting gurus for more info. Dr. Paul Mason on 'How Lectins Impact Your Health...' ruclips.net/video/mjQZCCiV6iA/видео.html If consuming lectin-containing foods (which are not found only in legumes, like peas and beans), cooking helps. Peeling helps. And not eating the seeds help. Viewing Mason's video will change your perspective on lectins.
Surprisingly constipation not a problem after a short adjustment phase (3 days for me)... I read upping Magnesium would get a person through that issue (and it did). After the 3 challenging days I’ve been blown away by the consistent degree of regularity. Go figure...
I am oxalate, salicylate and histamine sensitive.... not much left to eat. For several reasons I cannot go carnivore. I feel totally overwhelmed! Where and how do I start healing myself?
Being a “non-woo woo” astrologer myself, the mention of oxalate dumping -perhaps- being coordinates with lunar cycle is intriguing. The standard line is that we detox during the waning moon, and build up stores during the waxing moon.

Thank you, wonderful. I have finally found what has been causing my women issues and kidney stones. I thought I was eating low oxalate and my stones were better. I felt so much better eating keto since I am diabetic it is good for me. I never knew that the oxalate issue was much more than the stones. It is my vulva issues as well. I am now aware if dumping which explains why I would feel great then terrible at other times. I plan to use carnivore and fasting to get rid of oxalate.
I'm in the middle of my fat loss journey, so I'm trying to keep the sugar and carbs as low as possible for now, but I think I'll add coconut water on the days we go fishing if it's good for purging the oxalate I'm getting from our salads and turmeric. You can't take away my curry. Keto and fasting are doing wonders for me, but I'll see what adding some oxalate-purging items might do. I've had a pretty varied diet since I was a kid since both parents were great cooks, so hopefully I haven't stocked up too much.
plants have powerful defenses, they can be used for medicine because of that, however oxalates, polyphenols, lectins, tannic acid, arsenic and many other chemicals are in plants ,they use these for defense, also stickers, spikes and stinging mechanisms. i have tried to research these for awhile, i am still learning, bottom line is meat is good. animal based food is much better. I would like to know where i can get the most excellent information on these plant defenses . One thing i have found over and over is this. there is a group of bad people that want us to be unhealthy. they seem to be very powerful, most people cannot comprehend this . this group is very well hidden and has massive ability thru money and clout to do whatever they want. they LIE do your own research like this fine woman, they will try to discredit people like her and worse. we need to spread the truth around because the lies are very prevalent. Dr. Berry is a good one too.
Yes, it has stopped being about health long ago, it's about money.... They lie, they create false papers to prove their lies, etc. Good doctors and scientist keep losing their job/reputation trying to spread the truth and actually HELP people..... It's alllll about the money and the money they make off of sick people.... FACTS.
Hi Sally thank you for the fantastic talk and information. Where can I get a comprehensive list of low Oxalate foods? The ones that I have found are conflicting so Im now confused
Thanks for the interview. I have struggled with oxalate dumping while on keto since March. I had skin removed in April from losing a total of 100 pounds. Exactly what she described, the surgery trauma put me into dumping, kidneys hurt constantly, depressed, joint pain, cloudy urine, all of it. I am convinced oxalate poisoning is real. The past 6 weeks I have been training for a marathon. My sweat has been very itchy with white powder. It's easy to see all over my black Fitbit versa. I gotta lose my addiction to Lily's chocolate and peanut butter...
@@NutritionwithJudy I started right after the video and can already tell a difference. I went from peanut and almond butter to sunflower butter, rid of spinach, chocolate, and a few other things. I started feeling sore but things already are getting better. Biggest thing I notice is my stomach isn't hurting randomly anymore, and I don't get dog tired like I did soon after consuming those high oxalate foods. Thanks again.
Hi Matthew - Have you seen any of Dr. Jason Fung's presentations on RUclips? He has been helping people to lose weight, control or reverse Type 2 diabetes, and help other health problems with nutritional ketosis and/or fasting. He has found that his patients who lose a lot of weight who fast periodically for about 3 days or so occasionally as they are losing weight do not end up with excess skin. This is because fasting, while taking plenty of water, lets the body switch from building tissue to recycling old, damaged, and excess skin and connective tissue. Please see his presentations or website, or his book, for more details, but he does recommend physician supervision for fasts longer than 2 or 3 days. For healthy adults, short fasts should be no problem. You are probably aware that fasting was common in many religions, and still is in others. And of course humans had to deal with times when there is very little or no food for as long as humans have been human. :-) It is interesting how physicians will tell people not to eat for 12 or 24 hours (sometimes longer) before certain medical procedures, but they often think of fasting as dangerous. Many are also afraid of nutritional ketosis, as you know, because they do not understand the difference between triggering fat burning, and ketoacidosis. It would be great if physicians all knew about things like nutritional ketosis and fasting, and could help their patients avoid what may be needless surgery.
Matthew Babel Yes for me it was a NUT (Aquarius) Sensitivity (Scorpio) Aquarian’s get driven nuts by society! And a Scorpion is sensitive to where you are in the desert! Aquarius rules Caffeine, which is in (I didn’t know) chocolate. And Scorpio is sensitivity, another, word for allergy. Choc/Caffeine (Aquarius) Allergy (Scorpio) Really it’s oxalates! I’m an Aquarius Scorpio..
My question is, couldn’t it be just that you don’t have the gut bugs to digest these foods. My concern is that when you eliminate soooo much you lose the gut bugs that eat the foods you eliminate. Why can some people digest things well and others cannot? My head is spinning because different people seem to thrive on different diets.
Hello Dr. Judy . I'm korean and type 2 diabetic and have been on carnival for at least 4 months. I feel so much better, and I can feel my body healing itself. But I just wanted to ask you if you can do it in the korean language. There is so much misinformation in our country.
Im a peanut nut, and even though they are low carb and keep me off sugar, iv given them up. I had cloudy pee last week, im really hoping my body is releasing this.
I remember Paul Bragg recommending taking a tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar in water to remove crystals from the body.He didn't say what those crystals were, maybe it was oxalates. What do you think, could this be a means of dissolving the oxalates from the body?
Interesting to hear from my rheumatologist years ago after diagnosing me with fibromyalgia, that it seems to come upon people, after a major trauma like a car wreck, a major surgery, or prolonged periods of high stress-two of those I qualified for-but at minute 24 im hearing those things can cause oxalate dumping-So maybe I didn’t have fibromyalgia but oxalate issues after all?!!! Tested high for oxalates less than 2 months ago, been carnivore a month and a half after 20 yrs vegetarian then vegan...so far major pain flare ups, feeling like crap, no weight change ( not a major issue but figured id drop some by now) . Am going to tough it out & believe this will finally heal something ive waited to find a cure for, for 11 years...
Most docs just don't know. Not trained in this area much, at all on purpose.
Most docs dont know . Don't beat yourself up. We just have to pick up the pieces and continue on.
They knew they were in fact "doing harm." Got an update on your health today?
Black pepper 😳😱
That’s awesome!
How long did your recovery take?
Wow for 5 years you were eating a Oxalate nuclear bomb 💣, no wonder you felt like compleat crap.
Once I heard about the mitochondria dna 🧬 I threw my almond milk coffee away.!
Feed that to the rabbit. Then eat the rabbit.
Apparently peanuts were used for hog feed till 80 years ago ..
Those people were right but clueless as to why. But kudos to them.
Spinach is not bad for everyone.
My wrist and hand athritus flares up hard if I eat sugars or something high carb.
Very happy for you! I'm so happy that some people with these problems found their way out of the allopathic box!
Space Ghost sugar snd gluten cause high pain for me. So weird but real.
Yes I noticed the same I can now eat almost anything that I never dreamed I would be able to eat again. But it is just a test now and then. Feel way too good on carnivore.
Why bother with a salad?
2:33 - "...I had poisoned myself by eating (healthful) foods from my organic garden."
Wow.
It takes quite a ego to admit to all of that! I just love Sally.
I poisoned myself for 4 decades I should not have calcium or Phosphate foods
Misinformation brings money, we lost our health care science long ago
The good ones trying to bring the truth to lie lose their job.
The bad ones keep making money....
It's the truth.
I wonder how many of us started eating these foods we are told are very healthy in large amounts and after a few years ended up with numerous inexplicable health problems. I'm so glad I've discovered the reason now and slowly recovering on a low oxalate diet.
I'm definitely one of those 😳
Time for a change 👏☺️
Thank YAH for this wonderful information 👍🌹❣️

I was trying to do a lot of turmeric, but I kept getting worse. So glad I saw this
Yes.If anything they might at most mention that sensitive people may have stomach issues and suggest that you would notice issues immediately.
Vegetables were ruining me
They say clearly to go easy. not cold turkey

@1:03:03 "the greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance, it's the illusion of knowledge"
Great discussion.
Thanks ladies
so true!
Your gut bacteria is damaged by drugs. Eggs should be pastured and soft boiled.
I really wish this interviewer wouldn't have interrupted Sally so much.... Aggravating to listen to
Agree!

One day didn’t wanna talk to my neighbor, 110percent. It is mood altering!
I was in pain every single day until 10 days ago when I quit eating VERY Green smoothies.! I'm so thankful!
This explains why I felt great the first 5 days of carnivore, but over the last 4 days, I’ve progressively felt crappy again. But still better than how I felt before I started.
Side note, my vulva pain is what has helped me stick to this. So I’m so glad to learn it was probably the oxalates.
How are you feeling now? Side pain- I had it too. It was my gallbladder.
Make sure the meat is grass FINISHED (not just fed- that means it likely had Corn later in life.)
Also, research OXALATES and avoid them...though if you are ONLY eating meat- you already have that base covered.
My eczema went away 2 weeks into carnivore. One year later it started coming back on a different part of my body. This is a possible explanation.
@@NutritionwithJudy did you find that the oxalate dumping eczema flares were way worse than than the flares you had before? . my hands feel like they were burned, they hurt so bad.

Good for ox dumping (which im understanding as....helping RID the body of ox build up)
But when the body is ox dumping "side effects" such as you mentioned may occur?
(I know everyone is different)
Bottom line. ..lemon water good?!
@@hfactor6429 yes, I would say lemon water is good, but I don't drink it very often...I prefer just regular water🙂
I understood from Sally that lemon/lime water dissolves the oxalate crystals .
Apple cider vinegar.?

Wow, I eat all of that. The TURMERIC, SPINACH, CELERY JUICE, NUTS. Arthritis is in the knees ,lower back, fingers.💁
Thank you! Thank you!
I always wondered why my Indian clients struggled with hair loss....... There’s a huge oxalate connection

Amazing.
This was another great video. Thank you so much for all the information.
I like the Bornstein quote. The first time I heard it, was supposedly by Mark Twain, who said the problem is "...all the stuff we know, that just ain't so." President Reagan repeated something similar. "Liked"
Another great talk. I will listen again, there's a lot to learn. Thanks Judy.
Lol
But when I started researching it I realized this was me! That made me smile😊
Because I knew she was right.
Señora Sally you are so incredibly beautiful explaining all this in a very understandable way. Muchas Gracias from the Mexican jungle.
This content is so refreshing I’m so glad I found you!! :-)
Thanks Judy, you have an excellent interviewing style. Love all your video, but love, love + Sally 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Good video, she was on Tristan's page, too.
Excellent video! Thanks, Sally & Judy!
Excellent interview, great questions Judy!
This was the first time I heard someone else with the same vulva pain I was experiencing! It has gone away since starting carnivore... I just never made the connection that it was oxalates...
My life improved a lot after I found out I was lactose intolerant. I wanna try this oxilate thing.
Thank you so much. I can't begin to tell you how much you just helped me! 💞💞💞
Just goes to show how little these so called experts know. They are just accepting what they are taught without question.
I’m in the same boat, not sure what to do…
I cannot believe how good this video was!! Thanks!
Why rice ?
@@helenalovelock1030 Hi Helena ..Nah I found out that brown rice can be a detriment to your health .....Its con confusing because brown rice is so health from a nutritional standpoint... But the body can't use the nutrients because of the anti nutrients because t contains...I was training and losing so much weight bit eating 5 times a day...Did some research and I was consuming to many anti nutrients.... White rice doesn't have that cause its refined
@@andraelucas2466 I’m not eating any rice or carbs right now literally just meat, eggs and water.
Nadine Malik sane thing happened to me. Mysterious rash turned out to be “Keto rash”. Which is a misnomer. It turns out to be Ox dump.
I ate half a jar of peanut butter and had such muscle pain for 7 days in my leg, I was hoping around and non of the natural doctors had no clue what caused it!!! what a expensive degree to know bunch of nothing!
Its a legume. Very bad.
This is mind blowing!!
wow so good and informative, thanks for taking the time to talk about oxalates .. i had no idea!
Wow! I had no idea! Thanks for making this video.
Wow! Thank you Judy, this interview is very informative.
Deep appreciation to Sally K. Norton. However, the question should not be 'Oxalates or sugar?' Or lectins. (See link to Dr. Mason's presentation on lectins, below.) This is literally a situation of 'pick your poison.'
The vast majority of the US population is overweight or obese. The vast majority of those people- plus a lot of normal or lean people, are insulin resistant. That means they have Metabolic Syndrome/pre-diabetes, or Type 2 diabetes, whether or not they know they do. For these people, and Type 1 diabetics, consuming sugar or starch (which is just sugar molecules hooked together),
Unless these people stop the cycle of increasing insulin resistance by avoiding sugar and starch, they will become more and more insulin resistant, until they are put onto insulin.
Georgia Ede 'Mood and Memory - How Sugar Affects the Brain' ruclips.net/video/O8eR0R3sMHw/видео.html
Daily eating windows, and short water-only fasts of a few days, or maybe 5-7, ideally under the supervision of a knowledgeable health professional, can help break the insulin resistance cycle.
Fasting can also trigger the body to replace damaged mitochondria with new, healthy mitochondria. Continuing to consume sugar and starch with damaged mitochondria may feel better in the moment, but it does not seem like the logical solution, to me. Consult the fasting gurus for more info.
Dr. Paul Mason on 'How Lectins Impact Your Health...' ruclips.net/video/mjQZCCiV6iA/видео.html
If consuming lectin-containing foods (which are not found only in legumes, like peas and beans), cooking helps. Peeling helps. And not eating the seeds help. Viewing Mason's video will change your perspective on lectins.
If you want to write a book go do it.
Thx!
Surprisingly constipation not a problem after a short adjustment phase (3 days for me)... I read upping Magnesium would get a person through that issue (and it did). After the 3 challenging days I’ve been blown away by the consistent degree of regularity. Go figure...
Oops replied to the wrong post sorry... was meant for the question on constipation (obviously)... 😏
Corn salad lettuce is a brassica just like cabbage is. it needs to be cooked to reduce the goitrogens.
This is so good, iwant to see this again, does she have a book?
Yes
I am oxalate, salicylate and histamine sensitive.... not much left to eat. For several reasons I cannot go carnivore. I feel totally overwhelmed! Where and how do I start healing myself?
I don’t understand why you can’t go carnivore what are those reasons?

Thank you, wonderful. I have finally found what has been causing my women issues and kidney stones. I thought I was eating low oxalate and my stones were better.
I felt so much better eating keto since I am diabetic it is good for me. I never knew that the oxalate issue was much more than the stones. It is my vulva issues as well. I am now aware if dumping which explains why I would feel great then terrible at other times.
I plan to use carnivore and fasting to get rid of oxalate.
Thanks very very much, this is the answer to my Pryor.
I would LOVE to know what Sally eats in a week. What’s on her ‘acceptable’ food lists? I cannot find definitive lists of high oxalate foods....
@@NutritionwithJudy I watched that...after I posted this question - sorry. Note to self: next time watch it ALL before commenting!

Dr Gundry has a famous YES NO List that I like
I'm in the middle of my fat loss journey, so I'm trying to keep the sugar and carbs as low as possible for now, but I think I'll add coconut water on the days we go fishing if it's good for purging the oxalate I'm getting from our salads and turmeric. You can't take away my curry.
Keto and fasting are doing wonders for me, but I'll see what adding some oxalate-purging items might do. I've had a pretty varied diet since I was a kid since both parents were great cooks, so hopefully I haven't stocked up too much.
Thank you, so informative!!
Now I know why my pain level and itchy and mood issues happen with almond butter. That stuff is toxic to my body!!! Gives me rashes and everything.
Blackeyed Peas in a pressure cooker are a nono. The "eyes" clog the pressure valve and make blowee Uppee.
plants have powerful defenses, they can be used for medicine because of that, however oxalates, polyphenols, lectins, tannic acid, arsenic and many other chemicals are in plants ,they use these for defense, also stickers, spikes and stinging mechanisms.
i have tried to research these for awhile, i am still learning, bottom line is meat is good. animal based food is much better.
The Trying Low Oxalate Facebook group has a very comprehensive and up-to-date list!
Google it😊
Thanks for the interview. I gotta lose my addiction to Lily's chocolate and peanut butter...
i had the white powder on my hands!!
It is interesting how physicians will tell people not to eat for 12 or 24 hours (sometimes longer) before certain medical procedures, but they often think of fasting as dangerous. Many are also afraid of nutritional ketosis, as you know, because they do not understand the difference between triggering fat burning, and ketoacidosis.
It would be great if physicians all knew about things like nutritional ketosis and fasting, and could help their patients avoid what may be needless surgery.
