Hi Coach, awesome video! I was just wondering what are the main benefits for doing the pogo jumps? Is it a warm-up exercise to get the CNS firing? Are you using it to build up calf stiffness and power? Very interested in learning more about the pogo jumps. Thanks for your time.
I’ve been told that a lot of power comes from the little movement your ankle and calf muscles do with the little flexion of the ankle, I’ve done a lot of jumps where you load your ankle (flex it toes up) after you drop or jump and then you land ankle flexed and explode up. Its really hard in the beginning but you get the hang of it quick and notice how explosive that little movement can become when you train it. Not sure if pogos are that or just warmup or both.

Me to. Looks like movement prep for multidirectional speed (neural integration), plyometrics (kinetic linking, production and conduction of force), power (contrast; lifting and jumping), GREAT training.
Here's a question. How does the tibia/femur length ratio relate to training and mechanics? For example, if an athlete has a longer tibia than femur, it seems like the hamstrings must be stronger (and more likely to tear) because there is a higher concentration of weight below the knee. Also the moment arm of the femur is shorter and force production off the blocks would seem to be greater. Love these videos.
Im not an expert by anymeans but ive some really good trainers in the past and train with OTA currently. I dont think these ratios matter for running technique. Your limbs should be positioned the same regardless. What these ratios are useful for are squat depth. People with longer ratios cant get into deep squat positions. Might have a point with the hammies but shouldnt your hams be as strong as possible regardless?

How long was this session and how long were you resting in between exercises? Seems so long that the fatigue you're accumulating means you're not really gunna be working max power and speed, no?

Can I try this with my 9 year old? I know you have a youth training program but I wanna get the speed training one too. My question is that is it wise to start my 9 year old with the speed training program too, he's advanced than most his age and has been doing pyrometrics for going on 3 months.
